Its not the machine, its the artist behind it, this machine is only around 400$ and you can pump out dope house jams like this KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!
can you only have 5 melody parts? im choosing between this an like an Akai, problem is the Akai MPC's are so much more expensive... thanks for any help :)
This stuff sounds great! the only thing i've never used on emx is the chord osc brcause i only can choose a PCM instrument and can't with synthesized instrument. Am I in the right words?
you create your own rhythms, melodies, grooves, etc. with the EMX, although there are preset patterns that I believe are royalty free, but I'm not sure on that.

depends on what you want it for...if you want to use your own samples go with ESX...if you have a kaosspad or are interested in using something like it...then spend less and get an EMX since you wont need sampling with the kaosspad combo
I got this thing four days ago, and I've learned a lot of the features and how to compose patterns and songs. It was frustrating at first, but once i read most of the manual I'm set. I just need to learn how to make better sounds using the oscillators. Dont buy one without any music knowledge or at least a general idea of note composition. But if you dont like it, these things have high resale value
i would actually just recommend getting an older model of the electribe...i have an EM-1 and its more basic, but very user friendly and ive been using it for a long time. it has less options to it but its limits allow for much more mental creativity on the users part.
I fetched mine from post office like.. 3 days ago and when I first started that thing I was quite confused because I had never used a music making machine but after reading the quick start, some random pages of manual and just basically trying things with trial and error it started to open up very quickly.
By now I could say I have almost all the basic knowledge about it which is required to make some primitive patterns and songs.
Oh yeah. And easiest and funniest way to make some 8-bit / 4-bit like music is to take one synth module, assign PCM+WS oscilator to it. Selecting... was it ravehit6 synth to it, turning the osc edit 1 to full, making some adjustments to eg time and applying ROLL, THAT'S IMPORTANT, and then just playing the synth by the ribbon and that slider next to it. ;D
I toyed around with just this very primitive sound like almost an hour. :D
@freddy247247 , the red one is a sampler wich means u want to put some music in it like the KAOSS PAD. the blue one is a synth wich means you use it to create your own sounds like kaossilator pro.
@travisfrosty i hate people who think like that - sure if you cant afford a great top notch synth a lesser one will force you to push farther - however once you get a better one, then you can begin pushing past its limits as well. i hate electribes - i got the emx and i just think the samples are quite bad. my statement leans more towards the synth engine in it though.

So do you actually create melodies and rhythms with these things or do you just put together loops from a sound bank?

total control modulating synthesis via electromagnetic vibration-sensory response...that means yes. you can do it all...

Electribe EMX-1 is a synth only so it's all original.
