Pasted from Web: Shortly after Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother & Gary Rossington's mother died, they got together in Van Zant's apartment & started telling stories about them. Rossington came up with a chord progression, and Van Zant wrote the lyrics based on advice the women had given them over the years. They wrote it in about an hour.Even though the lyrics state,"Sit beside me, my only son," Ronnie was not the only son. He had 2 younger brothers along with one older sister & one younger sister.

Thank You to all of the members of Skynrd, especially Bobby Capps who as far as I know stayed out of the sticky business with Artimus Pyle. I really like Artimus, but it seems that some others had a problem with him. Well FUCK them!!

Both of his daughter's have came forward and cleared Artimus's name. Yeah they both said there mom put them up to it. Because she wanted to get as much money as she could get. I think people from the south feel like Ronnie really understood them. Theres so many people that never have. Were not like some people say we are. Mostly good hearted people with a lot of heart you know strong convictions. I like whatever feels good, but southern rock fits me like no other.

@Gahillbillyusa couldnt have been said any better...its just a different feelin when you listen to southern rock..its puts you in such a mood, more then words...I actually make music myself...hip hop/rap, but I always tell my producer, "Man if I could sing, I'd be makin southern rock"...the genre is so influential and at the sametime takes you right back the the place in your heart you call home...I love being from the South...and I love this song..

most of this footage and the footage that you see of them on the plane was shot with an 8mm camera by their roadie Craig Reed. He recorded a lot of footage of them in the 70's. He even actually has footage of the plane falling from the sky he was shooting out the window after it ran out of gas and they crashed in Amite, Mississippi in 1977.

Ed King WAS there til sometime in `75-he left in 1975- it`s in the vid. That is Ed K sitting there. THIS IS NOT FINAL FLIGHT.
