@Whyupgrade thanks mine dose not have jumpers on the board it auto detects. it is a pentium 3 but its one of the smarter mobo's. thank i was just wondering cause i need to get some more horsepower out of my old rig.
I own a dual PIII Tualatin 1,4 GHz computer with 2GB SDRAM and this thing is slow as shit Q,Q it can't even play youtube 480p videos but an P4 2,66 GHz (no HT) can play 720p YT smooth. Can you tell me why?
@theBlackRockSh00ter Are you using a graphics card with the dual p3? If not then that's probably the problem. The on board graphics are likely terrible.
If you are using a card, look into your hard disk speed. That might also be sub-par for youtube performance.
@theBlackRockSh00ter i used to have a sempron 2400 1.67ghz 1GB DDR 400 and geforce 6600GT 256MB, will play 720p fine. 1080p is a different matter though.
VLC player and power DVD take a lot of cpu power, as do others.
i found using windows media player 10 not 11 and a good codec much better performance, try different codecs. i think i used CCCP codec pack. its funny because its communist

question, dose rd ram fit into the same slot as pc-100 ram?

@jr540123 I believe SD RAM will fit into the same slot, you need to set some jumpers on the motherboard though.

@Whyupgrade
Yes I'm using a Radeon 3450 in this system but it doesn't help. The hard drive is an 80GB IDE drive a bit old but okay for this computer

@theBlackRockSh00ter Just check the speed of the disk, run a few read and write tests.
Otherwise I'm a bit stuck for a solution, I've seen Athlon XPs run 720p videos with no trouble. I can only suggest trying other browsers.
