Starr had every right to be angry at Astrid for having sex with Ray, because what Astrid did was incredibly wrong. However, Starr took her rage to the extreme when she shot Astrid. There is no excuse for what Starr did, and even though she was very upset, it does not make shooting Astrid okay. She never should have done it, at all. The woman clearly needs to be locked in a mental institution, placed in a strait jacket and possibly on medication.

@allisonromine In the movie it's hinted that they slept together. Luckily I read the novel. In the novel it's more explicit and their love affair is described in graphic detail. Ray was definitely attracted to Astrid. But Astrid was the one who seduced him and they both secretly begin a brief but obsessive love affair in secret right under Star's nose. Star shoots her in the novel just like she does in the movie but in the novel she doesn't get away with it and gets arrested and convicted.

@jessikagurl101 The flowers are mentioned in the movie, the are poisonous. "Beautiful and deadly" like her mother. Astrid's Mom was leaching the poison into milk. She also boiled it down and painted poison around Barry's house mixed with the chemical from Mexico that increased the body's tendancy to absorb them - Barry dies of poisoning.
