Honestly, this boss was not very hard for me. Equip Arcanum and counter as often as possible, and Riku goes down easy. It's just a matter of healing when necessary.

i was playing through this game again and i decided to do a kingdom key only run. i beat riku in one try with the kingdom key but i think i was at lv 48. took me a while but i still did it without using a powerful keyblade. long live the kingdom key! lol

Olympia... pretty good Keyblade in my op. Since it can quickly counter and has high atk. However it's so short...- - Riku is hard but not impossible, I played in proud mode and it took me 3 times to beat him.

@akiza01 No. It is explained later that Riku's Dark Keyblade is composed of the Princesses' hearts. Sora has his own heart, Kairi's, and Ventus', so 3 hearts inside him.

Man this was my favaorite fight in KH. Not the final ones in either main game compares to Sora fighting his best friend's possesed body in an epic one on one confrontation in front of a door leading to a world of darkness. Awesome memories!

Glide is your best friend for this fight when he use the move at 4:29 because without it, the boss will be harder without it. you can easily aviod damage from the move (4:29) with gulide since he doesn't go higher then 10 cmoff the ground. I was about 12 when i fought this boss and it was really hard then i relaise that i could have use glide to make it easy. Now I can easliy defeat him. The first time I defeated him i though i was dreaming because i went to bed after i saved after the boss.

@kingdomnobodies works well, that's how i beat riku. One piece of advice: when riku prepares to dp that charging attack that is unstoppable, double-jump then glide it out. Then attack again. Metal chocobo is a good keyblade, naturally i'd prefer ultimablade, but that's probably not possible to get before the battle. Also, the oblivion keyblade is in the room you fight riku in.

From what I can tell, the best way to tell when someone has had a hard time, is how easily they can remember the scene before it now:

Barely remembers = beaten on first or second try.

Basic jist= three to five tries

Can quote one or two lines (my level)= less then eight tries

Can quote the scene= pwned more then ten times

Can ACT out entire scene like you were playing the game itself= ROYALLY RAPED! XD
