Yes you can say the swim suits hep aide the atheletes but its the same advantage for everyone. Its not like phelps was the only one to be helped by the swimsuits, the technology doesn't downplay at all what phelps did.

Phelps is of the 21st Century, Spitz is from the 20th. Phelps has been aided by the technological advancments in swim suits. Mark swam in the body God gave him. The young Mark Spitz was tough to get to know. Luckily we had some time when he worked as a commentator at the World Swimming Championships in Cali Columbia in '76. We all got to know him and understand the real guy underneath the swimming machine. Phelps is great because it's 2008

You are absolutely right! Both Spitz and Phelps are amazing athletes and now the torch has been passed to the next generation of Americans to hopefully carry on the tradition of excellence. Even thought I belong to the current generation I still admire Spitz for his outsdanting accomplishments. Its also amazing that you actually had the chance to meet Spitz in person.
