You may also want to add that drivers can spend the night at most of the scales in Florida without having to worry about being woken up for an inspection. I've done that a few times and I've never been woken up by a officer. There are also bathrooms and a vending machine back there as well.
@stupidcrazyshow because you are the driver......it is legally your responsibillity to make sure your not over wieght......one of the MANY dumb laws that that made up my mind to stop driving....sure do miss it though
@stupidcrazyshow you can and should get your weight verified on a private weigh station if you think you may be close. never trust your paperwork, somtimes you just need to slide the tandems a couple holes.
I love the jakes man. BUT, courteous rules of the roads, NO jakes in truck stops and NO jakes in the rest areas! All the rest area's its been awhile since I've been down 75 and near JAcksonville, but the I-4 says "Avoid Engine Breaking." People are trying to sleep at the truck stops, 2nd if the sign says it and you come blaring in good chance they will pull you in for further inspection. Jake wisely.
This is why I always loved MY PrePass & Drivin' for A Carrier with 1 of the best safety records in the Industry Didn't hurt either, But neither is bein' retired from the Road ! 4 that Matter
@NShighnoser We American truckers have whats called "pre-pass"If you have one on your windshield, and you approach the weigh station, you will get a green light and it will beep on the unit if 1,your weight is good 2. if your company is in good standing with the DOT.get a green light, and you can by-pass an open weigh station. If the red light flashes on the unit mounted on the windshield, must go to the scale station.besides that, you must enter an open weigh station.
@runninnekkid I can hear it too after he takes off and shifting. Maybe the trans is having trouble. There was some grinding on down shifts. Honestly, I love to critique but hate acting like I'm a know it all. I'm listening to the sound of the motor on the upshifts and can't think why it would be grinding, I'd bang em the same way but I never hear grinding. He's loaded for sure it sounds like.
@rchavez290 the vid did not stop... but if you notice, i was in 2nd gear before i stopped, and i also stopped smoothly.. slamming on brakes on the scale is a no-no..
@wereldmen The police will chase you down, and bring you back to the scale, or just give you a fine, and let you keep going. I never did it, so I don't know.
@wereldmen they (police) will come out, run pull you over, and you will be escorted back to the weigh station where they will most likely inspect your vehicle, and ticket the driver.
@BBBYpsi I am in FL right now & got the green light on the first two on I75 & the one on I4 just east of Tampa. Only place I had to pull in was the agriculture & yes all three were open.
In the state of Florida it doesn't matter if your axles go over the limit. They only care that you dont go over your gross weight of 80.000 lbs. This is due to all the trucks that haul fruit in and out of there.
yes. I was 1,200 pounds over on my trailer this week when I went over a scale on I-95 south in Virginia just south of Washington, DC. She told me 1,200, and to shift the weight. I slid the trailer foward 2 holes. went back over scale, and like on this vid, green light came on, and I was gone!

@woodencoasterfan i never sleep in rest areas, or scales.. you are asking for it if you do.. you are on state property, and they can do that...
black34male 1 day ago
You need to ammend your description to say that there are signs stating that drivers must maintain 45mph when crossing over the rolling scales.

Do truckers have to stop at every single weigh station? or do you have to go through one so often, or least one in every state?
Jason

@NShighnoser Depends on the state. West Virginia, for example, seldom
has thier stations open, while states like Ohio,Kentucky and Florida ,they
keep thiers open almost 24/7. Yes i do drive (10 yrs this March)
