@onatdrums87 I really don't know. It has been a while since my Berklee audition. I am sure their standards have gone up quite a bit since then. There are so many fantastic young players out there that this level of playing may be quite common. I will say this. I am sure that there would be a decent chance of acceptance with playing of this level.
whats amazing is how you can rip those bass drum doubles so effortlessly. for me its the most physically difficult movement on the drum set. you've obviously been playing a long time. nice work !
This isn't medium samba, this is fast samba. This is a tough tune, but no where near as difficult as the medium samba, or at least going by the groove notated in the Groove Essentials book.
I can handle the slow samba, and the fast samba, but I just haven't got the chops for riding straight eighth notes at GE medium samba tempo for 3 minutes. It's insane!
by the way it's cool that you can speak your language and also english so well. i'm from Puerto Rico and speak spanish and english and i like you language! haha
If it was me, I'd be doing heel toe, heel toe, but I think he might actually be lifting his foot up and sliding it forward. It's pretty impressive. Samba is fun to play and he does it well.
@justinrinearson I'm nowhere near as good as this guy, but I can do the double kicks at this tempo. Practice it constantly, and if you have a double bass pedal, sell it! I think I learned the coordination by emulating the Bonham kick (Good Times, Bad Times, etc.). The hardest part for me is still working that coordination into the groove. This video's a great example of that...
This drumming is tight...check out the heal toe technique (I'm still practicing that) Every time I see this I learn more. He has versatility and that's more important for any drummer.
sweet... this is the kinda stuff I wanna eventually be able to do. If you have some time, could you check out my video and give me some pointers? The one with the music on top of the drums.
You nailed it!!!! awesome job! im working on this groove myself, it's a toughy though. haha

Do you think that if a drummer played an audition with this level of drumming would be accepted to berklee?

you are a good drummer so that "samba" and a group of 4 semi-quaver in the conduct, correct that error and you will play samba really ok
Nicholas from Brazil
vc é um bom baterista, só que "samba" é um grupo de 4 semi-colcheia na condução, corrija esse erro e vc vai tocar samba de verdade ok

Do you mind running down the mics and recording set-up you used for this? The sound of your drums reminds me a lot of Masterplan-era Weckl.
Nice playing too.
