It's not supposed to ride around alone. It is a moving platform for infantry equipment. Such robot could be a moving shield and allow soldiers to carry less on their backs. At least that's what military guy on Discovery said. So good luck sticking a bomb to it with 12 marines around it smart-ass.

If they could find it, the point is to limit the militarily's dependence on roads, and make it hard for the enemy to find supply convoys because each vehicle would make its own path. It also would be armed and escorted from the air. Even if you did manage to kill it, that is only one truck instead of the whole convoy, you would still have to find the others.
