I think we should just use drones. They won't be shot down anytime soon and they sure as hell can take out enemies with ease. Support infantry with drones, it's the way forward.
I'm waiting for the day when they combine this kind of thing with the Big Dog prototype; a 4 legged robot with weapons sytems aboard, that could prompt its handler as to whether to attack a distant target. Say give it a couple of assault rifles with grenade lauchers in "stealth" mode, that machinegun pit is as good as dead, without getting anyone else killed
these gizmos are only going to get smarter and quieter. lets just put the AI software into the polished version so that the US can fight its next war with Terminators.
You say "this is a prototype"... You dont then wanna see the "top secret" models underground hah ha.. Prototype of resupplycrap, Cloned 100 headed cyborg squad would make you say wow! i guess lol (You wont see the secretones until theyre in everyday use OR usa, china, korea plaplaa gets attacked, but china etc has muchmore! advanced robots, and they dont /FLEX with em so you dont even know howmany TYPE-98MBT tanks they have ;))
that's not the point, as you can say that about any military vehicle...
the point is to [prove the technology works then to pump bilions into the tech...
in other words : a new way to kill ppl and to spend our taxes on more innovative ways to kill and waste all that good money - yeehah! for the M.i.K blowing up more cash for a fubar...
ha ha, it will take about 2 minutes for someone to work out the best place to place a bomb is on the back of it as it will return to base to refuel.. Waste, agreed.
To get it unstuck they would just need another one. Or, since there is no one stranded when it gets stuck maybe they just leave it until the enemy comes to salvage it then self destruct when they're swarming all over it trying to pry the m-gun loose.
@MrkBO8 Well, you could place a bomb on any human-operated vehicle too, if the driver's not watching carefully. I'm sure this thing is full of cameras and proximity sensors to prevent exactly that.
@MrkBO8 LOL, yeah run up to the mobile machine gun platform wit ha bomb. Dont mind that full camera and sensor suit that saw you hiding behind that tree 300 meters out... 10 minutes before you saw IT.. Run up to the machine with a bomb, thats fucking hilarious...
It's not supposed to ride around alone. It is a moving platform for infantry equipment. Such robot could be a moving shield and allow soldiers to carry less on their backs. At least that's what military guy on Discovery said. So good luck sticking a bomb to it with 12 marines around it smart-ass.
@MrkBO8 Make it 3 then. I just put random number. It's not uncommon to see infantry move along tanks using them as a shield. They are nice target for a mortar too.
@EnhancedNightmare Actually, infantry moves with tanks to defend the tanks against rocket and anti-tank teams. You should learn a bit about military tactics before you talk about them.
I know that one ... And the thing I said was just words of some US army guy who talked about those robots on discovery I guess he is just as clueless as me. Open up I said this before 100 years ago planes could do as much as scouting now robots can do that. Imagine next 100 years.
If they could find it, the point is to limit the militarily's dependence on roads, and make it hard for the enemy to find supply convoys because each vehicle would make its own path. It also would be armed and escorted from the air. Even if you did manage to kill it, that is only one truck instead of the whole convoy, you would still have to find the others.
Frankly I'd rather drive it myself than spend another billion dollars trying to make a machine do a job that 6 billion poorly-educated humans could easily do themselves.
I think someone doesn't like dealing with human conscience and judgment and doesn't mind spending other people's money finding ways around it.
pos, sorry dudes. that thing does not impress me. who built this pile of scrap. ugh. they probly made this and posted it on the web to bull shit all of us. no way this is for real. anyone ever head of the steal bomber? f-22 raptor? yea, we can do a heck of alot better than this stupid thing.
sounds like a skip on wheels , is a case of hide for 15mins until the batterys run out or just throw a few grenades at it to shut it up so people can sleep , instresting stuff though would be better on tracks but looking at the interface can see it is capable of more then what the eyes can see :) would rather see the hardware being used doubt its a zilog z80 heh
Once the supporting ZOG, NWO infantry has been "dealt with" or suppressed, one man with a 50 dollar sledge hammer should be able to turn this expensive robot into a pile of junk.
The Crusher's got a max payload weight of 8000 pounds. With that much capacity, you could put an erector-launcher based on the NLOS-LS on that thing, or an ASP-30 autocannon turret with eight ATGM tubes mounted to it, and still have room to spare!
it takes a moron grabbing at any excusse to put down bush and america as a whole to beleive the "dumbest" president in america directed the greatest 'cover up' in world history... must i add in only 1 year of being in office...
Not a spy vehicle, it's a combat vehicle. I.E., carrying stuff, people to places that normally would take an actual vehicle that adds another person or two to man the vehicle. And local area, like around a base movement of goods/people.
Wow Espido, maybe you should be putting more time bashing the real bad guys who have no real good intentions of using their WMD. So you're saying development of our defense is bad. Wow, I guess yelling and screaming and throwing sticks and stones would substitue stopping Hitler. Smart!
Cool piece of machinery! The propulsion system is just as interesting: diesel-hybrid, hub motors, no mechanical transmission. Essentially, this 7-ton beast is propelled by a puny 1.9 TDI from a VW Jetta, about 90 hp.

Also, what if the thing gets stuck in mud or other terrain, it will take a whole crew of men out in the open to get the dam thing loose.
Even tanks can get stuck in the mud (look at Korea and WWII footage).
Personally, I'll take a squad of well trained and well armed soldiers over that piece of shit bumper car.

Good point :
1) I love the vehicle who can drive in offroad with combination of camera/computer/laser and radar.
2) good ability
Bad point :
1) 6.5-ton is very huge for a RC vehicle
2) Made lot of noise, for a "spy" vehicle
3) I don't know why, but the idea of Robot who remplaced human in combat i don't it..
