I know it's just an animation, but the critic in me feels the need to say something. Lava with that much dark, cooler material in it would be flowing at about half that speed. Lava going that fast would be much more uniform in its yellow-orange color.

@Maketsup I imagine this is a late comment, but blender can use the GPU. The thing is, is that the ability to access a GPU in the ways needed to render like any 3d program does, are complex and its not as easily developed. The architectures are FAR more varied than the common processors blender is gonna be found on.. Its done by using an external renderer, LuxRender via the LuxBlend plugin. There's others, but that is I imagine the most well known.

This looks too much like water.

Lava flows a lot slower (especially at the surface) because it can't maintain a high temperature, so it's melting and hardening in cycles. I'm not asking you to do the same, but just so you know...
