I did grow up (in West Africa) listening to gospel songs she used to sing has part of a singing group she formed mainly with her siblings (the songs were their native African language). Look up videos by Makoma (the name of the group, also their family name) on YouTube. So at least from my childhood experience I knew she had roots in Congo. Then good internet sources help find more information.

Ik zit al 30 jaar in de muziek maar ik heb nog nooit meegemaakt dat ik tranen in m'n ogen kreeg van een onbeschrijflijk goed optreden als Nathalie telkens weer doet. Wat een geweldig mens is dat.

Dit is niet alleen zingen en dansen, ze stopt er nog iets extra's in waarmee ze de luisteraar aan het nekvel meesleept in haar optreden. Een perfecte artieste dus. Goddelijk!
