Self-taught is probably the best thing, u can learn what u want and have fun at the same time...nonetheless there are some basics that needs to be known, u can find 'em easily on the internet. It's just passion and patience

Se hai appena iniziato a suonare, sarà un lavoro fisico (ma anche di pazienza) abbastanza duro...diciamo che fondamentalmente i fischi si ottengono sfiorando la corda col lato del pollice subito dopo la plettrata (deve essere un movimento molto rapido), ma è più facile a dirsi che a farsi.

It's actually impossible to become a clone of any guitarist, don't care if the guitarist is great or not: each guitarist has his own picking, legato, shreddin style, I just took somethin from him n somethin from otha guitarists (as Bill Peck, Santana) n developed my playin with their exercises, this is what came out...
