my school choir is singing this in front of the whole school and im on harmony and we split into two in the middle so while one part sings haste haste we sing what child is this! it sounds sooo pretty!
Our choir always used to sing this. Now I'm learning the piano for it, and whenever we sing What child is this, I sing Child of the poor quietly in my choir corner.
I sang this combination with my church choir 6 years ago, with the men doing the counter-melody of Child Of The Poor in the last third of the song. It was tricky, and we haven't done it since. Thanks so much for posting this! Yes, beautiful piano!
Our GLCE2007 choral group did the same song last year at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. It is a beautiful piece.
Biltmore didn't allow cameras but we were able to record the audio. I combined the audio with still shots from a rehearsal just prior to heading to the estate.
THAAAAAANNNNNNNNKKKKKKK YOOOUUU!!! I've been looking for this song forever! However, I can barely hear them. -_-' Do you think you could post the script?
thanks. sry. i'm the piano player and i have to keep the camera at my side which means the piano is almost always too loud. hope u can still enjoy the videos. other videos of choir and choir members at: moojoopoo, motp06, emoteepee, quenchyourkirst, chinkiekittie
thanks for watching our ceiling. hehe. we have more songs. sry i haven't uploaded in a while. other videos of choir and choir members at: moojoopoo, motp06, emoteepee, quenchyourkirst, chinkiekittie
It's strange, how this song and What child is this link together. While "What Child is This" displays Christ's glory, "Child of the Poor" illustrates Christ's humanity...it's sobering to listen to, and it never quite leaves a person...
i sang this song in my school cour... its veary hurd to sing ... becuase we split the two songs up at the end so on half of the group would sing chil of the poor and the other side wouls sing what chil is this .... it got veary confusing

child of the poor/what child is this and the reverse has always been a nice arrangement. however, this video (as with the others) could have done better if the choir could be better heard over the piano. as of now, what I hear are only a few feeble voices.
OMG I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS EXACT ...er... combination? OF SONGS!!! I used to this... combination with my old church and i loved it! But I havedn't been able to find Child of the Poor ANYWHERE!!! and i love it so! Thank you for putting it up here! ^^
This is my favorite Christmas liturgical music piece in church -- two hymns together in one song. The combination of Scott Soper's hymn and a well-known carol is captivating, especially on Epiphany. Thank you for posting this. :)

Assuming you mean the 'Child of the Poor' lyrics:
1. Helpless and hungry, lowly, afraid,
wrapped in the chill of midwinter;
comes now among us, born into poverty's embrace,
new life for the world.
Refrain: Who is this who lives with the lowly,
sharing their sorrows, knowing their hunger?
This is Christ, revealed to the world
in the eyes of a child, a child of the poor.
-too long, I'll have to double post-

2. Who is the stranger here in our midst,
looking for shelter among us?
Who is the outcast? Who do we see amidst the poor,
the children of God?
3. Bring all the thirsty, all who seek peace;
bring those with nothing to offer.
Strengthen the feeble, say to the frightened heart:
"Fear not: here is your God!"
