People either hate or love these headphones. i love them. Ive been listening to dnb and dub since 96' , so i have a dog in the fight. Sony xb1000 and Pro 900s are comparable in the best bass department. The way i see it , if you listen to bass music with low rumble and 808 bass, xb1000's boomy nature is better. I prefer Pro 900s because i listen to a lot of neurofunk and twisty grindy synth bass. So in my mind, xb1000-rap and low rumble dub. pro 900s - skrillex/kill the noise/neurofunk
Nice unpacking videos, have you ever thought, as you obviously own a few of those babies, to give your personal opinion about the soundquality and the advantages and disadvantages of the unpacked headphone?
Have a set of Pro 550's on the way from b&h. Only bought them because they wouldn't ship ATH M50s to Canada but I think I may have made a better purchase anyway. Replacing some defective M-Audio Studiophile Q40s (which I would strongly recommend against, the cable is of poor quality and they are uncomfortable.) always wanted to try a pair of ultrasones and now I get the chance!
"I like that" Your video's are pretty much telling us that you have alot of money and can afford nice stuff. Close to nothing or nothing at all actually talk about the Spec's, or about the history of the headphones. Everythings "nice"? When your paying a large amount on headphones, they are going to be nice. Jerk.
I wouldn't be too disappointed to find these headphones are Made In Taiwan. All Asian countries except China are good at making products. I find Chinese made stuff is kind of plasticy and flimsy.
I have both and the Pro 900 completely rapes the HD25 in terms of technical capabilities (detail, separation, imaging, etc), but it's got a completely different sound signature. HD25 is very neutral while Pro 900 got a V-shaped freq response.
These headphones need a lot of burn-in before they sound at their best. Mine took about 400 hours to really shapen up. Nevertheless, I'm hard-pressed to believe that these sound worse than the XB1000, when they are properly amped and burned-in. Hope your impressions change over time :P
@derbigpr500 The ultrasones arent allround headphones...At least, if they are supposed to be, ultrasone failed pretty badly on tuning the drivers to be imo. I cant stand these for anything else than some electronic music etc.
@derbigpr500 How can you say that the XB1000 are crap other than bass? You dont even have one. They are probably not as good as these Ultrasones but they are pretty good for the price and are certainly not crap. And it also depends on your music tastes.
@DaveK183 Extra bass is not good. Extra bass means uncontrolled, boomy, muffled bass that ruins the rest of frequency range. Untlike Sony's, Ultrasones give you strong, controlled, tight bass without ruining the rest of the sound. A lot of people who heard these will agree that they have the best bass of all closed headphones on the market.
@DaveK183 Other than having better bass than any XB Sony, Ultrasones will give you excellent mids and highs, tons of detail, amazing imaging and great soundstage that is amazing in closed back headphones. XB700 or XB1000 are not even in the same league as Ultrasone Pro900. They just have a overly boosted, boomy bass. Like a cheap subwoofer.
@derbigpr500 They have better detail, mids and high, thats true. But with bass you are horribly wrong. xb havent overwhelming bass, but very detailed bass.
@DaveK183 Yea I have heard XB500 and XB700. If you think they have detailed bass, then I dont know what to say. You need to listen to some good headphones then to hear what good bass is and what good sound means. XB700 are not even in the same league as Pro900 in terms of sound quality, not even in terms of bass, its just not comparable.. And yes, XB700 have very boosted bass, in fact almost 20 db's above mids and highs.
hi hifiguy, how do these headphones compared to the Sony xb1000? they both have great bass but which one has better mids and highs? which one is better in sound quality and comfortability overall ?
Do you have other Ultrasone headphones? How do these, or any other headphones, compare to the HD 600? I am looking for some headphones with good bass, and good for trance music? Maybe you can help me out :)
I'm pretty sure that you are aware of this, but I think the sound in general improves with time once the headphones are "run in" What's your take on that?
I say this becouse the sound on my Sennheiser got better with time.

@Croozer he buys a lot of headphones, and its expensive. The HD800 are around $1200, the Beyerdynamic T1 is also retails around that area. Not to mention that this headphone probably cost $400-500. Anyways this is an amazing collection man!
