This game sucks, it is a step back from the original everquest. The only good thing it has going for it is the graphics. All fans must ask themselves, are you fans because its a good game or because its FF?
What I like the most from the FF is the story lines, and amazingly video graphic! And I also thinks that FF makes the best eye's and hair that I've ever seen! and 1 more thing.. freaking cute girls xD

@TheScottishRocker the online FFs are developed by a different team and published by SE and I agree. The new FFs are aweful but FFXI and XIV are the work of a different group of people.
There is speculation that its been delayed because of 3D and that crazy PS3 move thing with the icecream cones. Theres also talk of the delays being shortened from 6 months to 3.
Im a 360 gamer so imagine how I feel? I dont even have the option of waiting. gotta build a PC.

XIII has a relatively poor story (Im not even interested in the story enough to look up the last few cutscenes online), repetitive, boring combat that cant even be called tactical and for the first 20 odd hours the game shuts you in a corridor.
Sure the graphics are pretty but if thats what makes a good game these days no wonder the industry is going down the toilet.

I have mixed feelings about the game. On one hand I have been a fan of the series for years and loved FF11. Played that for 6-7 years before I left for real life reasons. On the other hand I'm not sure about this new game. They are saying so many things that I'm getting conflicting reports about it. I guess I'll have to wait and see like everyone else.

@DarkRider2k3 , listen up i'ma school you for abit hang tight. RDMs Are support jobs only for leveing and endgame, you may feel free to drop your staff and pick up a sword. your role as rdm with refresh does not hurt it slows down the party. usually rdms with refresh can main heal therefor you cannot melee, you need to refresh mp members, cure, enf, haste, which leaves no time for meleeing, feel free to pick up a weapon but good luck leveling, you wouldn't want to become another Birdhair do you?
@Tidusinai PLD was my 1st 75, but I changed it for merit parties cuz well PLD nvr got any invite for those and our Shell Leader was the head PLD and was well equiped with relic shield and sword, so I changed to SAM for End game and WAR for merits.
@Wavarian WHM didn't really get parties for Merit parties though. They were needed for end games, but the most useful mage was RDM. However, im sure there will be new jobs that will be just as useful if not more in 14.
I hope they make a JPONRY server, when I used to play ffxi it was hard to find a party at night because JP didn't want to play with NA/EU -_-
They should have a few integrated servers too (like it is now) for those who don't care who they play with, but a jp only server would fix some problems...
Of course if it uber easy to solo in ffxiv I guess it wouldn't matter as much.
well FFXI was like that because typically, American players were notorious for... being elitist (u know that monk that has to do top notch damage even if he almost dies every fight), rude (would go away from keyboard alot during party, sometimes never returning at all), selfish/stingy/swindling (if u dont play by my rules then imma force u to do what i say type mentality, like that redmage who dont haste a melee cause he dont like their weapon)... ya Ignorant players really ruined the NAEU rep~
Also i think many people from our side of the globe are ignorant to the lifestyle of Japan.. too many American's a game is just a game... u turn it, on have fun, then leave.. but over there... a game is just valued more. Just because u do something different doesn't mean everyone follows in ur foot steps, I personally enjoyed the unique feature of FFXI where team work actually mattered. But long story short, majority of time i was displeased with the inability for people of my own NATION to be able to ban together to do something so simple as make a party, yet alone do something hard. In fact it always seems that American HNMLS's had to mimic Japanese HNMLS's strategies cause they couldn't think on their own.
It becomes really pathetic when ppl who speak the same language can't get something done more then half are either defiant or just dont givva crap cause they don't care if they waste others time or not. I think this new FF is amazing. But, I still play FFXI... I still have lot's I want to do with the game and so on so forth... My only concern is that FF XIV will (in a sense) kill FFXI? Everyone will leave it to go to the new MMORPG? I guess we'll see. But still, very good to see this coming.
one thing that kept me hooked on ffxi was the amount of content. The second, was it was based around pve, not pvp. I do like the occasional pvp, kind of like they did it in xi, but what I hated about aion for instance was getting ganked while doing pve. I hope they keep the focus on pve still with ffxiv, or I'll be heading back to xi lol

@Nostunna05 I even played WoW, and GuildWars. WoW fun but it aimed more at the younger crowd like middle school, and high school. GW doesnt grab my attention because its not IN DEPTH and there isnt really any diversity.
most of your character design is based on your equipment -_-... yeah, there are a few things that won't change each time you change your equipment such as.... race, hair and face... but pretty much every other aspect of your appearance will change when you change certain pieces of equipment.. which means it would be utterly pointless to allow players to design other parts.
I'm a hardcore player, so I'm glad to hear about more soloable options. Having to group to get EXP is a pain, and sometimes it's just better to solo: going afk, resting, ALT + Tabbing. Yeah, I'm glad soloing is gonna be more happening in FFXIV.
Just hope it doesn't go as far as GW. They overdid it with the soloing thing. Most of the time, it's actually better to go solo instead of going with pt members. They messed up with that
I'm a senior in high school, and my brother just graduated from the local comm. college...next year he's going to attend a college far, far away, and so will I! So we promised that we were both going to buy the PC version of this game and even though we'll be living far away from each other, we'll keep in contact with FFXIV :). We've always been FF nerds together and it's exciting that it's going to help keep us together as we both grow up. Final Fantasy rocks
there was no service and you felt like playing a singleplayergame with mmo-mode. the quests were nice, the traps oldschool and nice, too. but i wouldn't mention the term "quality" with guild wars... it was a better free to play mmo, not more.
I'm 80/20 on agreeing with your comment. Guild Wars gets boring after a while because you can solo almost everything since they added heroes and most of the time I'm just farming or running and if you can run Discord/Sabway, then there are only like 4 areas you can't solo.
But it's pretty fun sometimes when playing with friends. Doing HM missions with your own unorthodox builds is fun.
Looking at it from the outside, GW sucks. From the inside, it's an ok game.

It's really amazing how much they addressed from FFXI, the problem is, they shouldn't be creating a whole nother MMO to address all the problems with FFXI, they should be fixing their original product.
I'm wholly unimpressed with their effort on FFXIV so far, if they really want to make another MMO, they need to bring in something beyond what other MMOs are doing, not improve on a game they didn't fix from nearly a decade ago.
The key word shouldn't be character development, nearly every single MMO ever made is primarily character development, the word RPG means character development in Video game context.
The key word should be tactics, the FF series isn't very action oriented, even though they stepped up the action with ATB before alot of other RPGs. They should be heralding tactical depth of gameplay that makes the gameplay interesting. Everything else is expected and natural for the FF series.
bahamutlkaiser, i dont think you have play mmo before or play alot of mmo. You cant improve something that cant be improve anymore. Ps2 have its limted. Its time to move to next gen. Also, character developement is important. Its boring to see everyone the same. I have high hope for ffxiv.
I played FFXI for over 2 years, and haven't played another since because none of them are good enough. I've studied every MMO and tested them ever since FFXI so I do know what their capable of, and graphics are not a relavent problem.
and the controllers are way to small for ps3, like it was made for lil brats who complain about xbox 360 all day. but i would play ps3 if i could use a xbox controller.

@dudleland its an MMO where as 13is not. its a different game from 11 but i would imagine its connected to 11 storyline wise. and by the way i have been playing 11 and its the best MMO out there, i cannot wait for 14!!!

Additionally 13 is an off-line based (RPG) game while 14 is an online based (MMO) game.
You can't make a connection. The numbers are simply tradition.

I'm so pumped for this game, it sounds like they're really going to make sure that there's not a bunch of grinding and there's going to be a lot of fun quests. I need a new MMO.

I mainly quit for the fact that partying took forever (glad to see they are working on this), but I also got tired of everyone saying "HEY RDM DON'T MELEE JUST STAND BACK"
and someone explain to me how melee damaging an opponent hurts my casting of refresh?

@DarkRider2k3 , listen up i'ma school you for abit hang tight. RDMs Are support jobs only for leveing and endgame, you may feel free to drop your staff and pick up a sword. your role as rdm with refresh does not hurt it slows down the party. usually rdms with refresh can main heal therefor you cannot melee, you need to refresh mp members, cure, enf, haste, which leaves no time for meleeing, feel free to pick up a weapon but good luck leveling, you wouldn't want to become another Birdhair do you?

@Tidusinai PLD was my 1st 75, but I changed it for merit parties cuz well PLD nvr got any invite for those and our Shell Leader was the head PLD and was well equiped with relic shield and sword, so I changed to SAM for End game and WAR for merits.

@Wavarian WHM didn't really get parties for Merit parties though. They were needed for end games, but the most useful mage was RDM. However, im sure there will be new jobs that will be just as useful if not more in 14.

I hope they make a JPONRY server, when I used to play ffxi it was hard to find a party at night because JP didn't want to play with NA/EU -_-
They should have a few integrated servers too (like it is now) for those who don't care who they play with, but a jp only server would fix some problems...
Of course if it uber easy to solo in ffxiv I guess it wouldn't matter as much.

well FFXI was like that because typically, American players were notorious for... being elitist (u know that monk that has to do top notch damage even if he almost dies every fight), rude (would go away from keyboard alot during party, sometimes never returning at all), selfish/stingy/swindling (if u dont play by my rules then imma force u to do what i say type mentality, like that redmage who dont haste a melee cause he dont like their weapon)... ya Ignorant players really ruined the NAEU rep~

Also i think many people from our side of the globe are ignorant to the lifestyle of Japan.. too many American's a game is just a game... u turn it, on have fun, then leave.. but over there... a game is just valued more. I mean i swear I read in some news thing a Japanese guy married his 'pixelated' game girlfriend... Over there the seem to take gaming alot more serious then the NA/EU who seem to just want something to gloat about,since they cant do it in real life.

In Japan ur like a loser if you DON'T play games! But i hate how that is over here, there's other fun things to do than get drunk,go clubbin, smoke weed, phuck, and spend up your money *usually on some hoe* (i don't do any of that).

"American" isn't a race, so im not being racist~ And if you read what I wrote I never once stated every American do ALL of those things, those are some of the top things associated with being "fun" in USA Society... Also I never claimed their wasn't elitist Japanese, but im not going to be ignorant and not mention that there were MUCH more American elitist then there were Japanese. and that's in almost every game. Just because u do something different doesn't mean everyone follows in ur foot steps, I personally enjoyed the unique feature of FFXI where team work actually mattered. But long story short, majority of time i was displeased with the inability for people of my own NATION to be able to ban together to do something so simple as make a party, yet alone do something hard. In fact it always seems that American HNMLS's had to mimic Japanese HNMLS's strategies cause they couldn't think on their own.

I easily got parties with my own people in FFXI. Mimic strategies? me and my friends do all our shit on our own and we got to level 75 and owned dynamis. I think this new FF is amazing. But, I still play FFXI... I still have lot's I want to do with the game and so on so forth... My only concern is that FF XIV will (in a sense) kill FFXI? Everyone will leave it to go to the new MMORPG? I guess we'll see. But still, very good to see this coming.

one thing that kept me hooked on ffxi was the amount of content. The second, was it was based around pve, not pvp. I do like the occasional pvp, kind of like they did it in xi, but what I hated about aion for instance was getting ganked while doing pve. I hope they keep the focus on pve still with ffxiv, or I'll be heading back to xi lol
The gear focus is a really neat idea, I hope it works great =D

Every MMO gets boring after a certain period of time, I played FFXI on and off from since it came out, this is by far the best MMO ive ever played, I played Conquer online, Gunz, all those free MMO and there BORING... FFXI will keep you hook cause its so IN DEPT!

ps: Did ya play Diablo I&II? That would be the ONLY mmorpgs that I payed for.. I think. Final Fantasy really is in depth, and although I haven't played any of their online games, I know that their single player games are. So what you say makes complete sense now.

@Nostunna05 I even played WoW, and GuildWars. WoW fun but it aimed more at the younger crowd like middle school, and high school. GW doesnt grab my attention because its not IN DEPTH and there isnt really any diversity.

That's all very nice, but I guess they didn't learn the most important aspect for many people, who never gave squat about FFXI.
The character design for pcs sucks.
Why couldn't they give players the old, classic class designs with developed customisation?

most of your character design is based on your equipment -_-... yeah, there are a few things that won't change each time you change your equipment such as.... race, hair and face... but pretty much every other aspect of your appearance will change when you change certain pieces of equipment.. which means it would be utterly pointless to allow players to design other parts.

I'm a hardcore player, so I'm glad to hear about more soloable options. Having to group to get EXP is a pain, and sometimes it's just better to solo: going afk, resting, ALT + Tabbing. Yeah, I'm glad soloing is gonna be more happening in FFXIV.

Just hope it doesn't go as far as GW. They overdid it with the soloing thing. Most of the time, it's actually better to go solo instead of going with pt members. They messed up with that

I am. SO EXCITED. For this game.
I'm a senior in high school, and my brother just graduated from the local comm. college...next year he's going to attend a college far, far away, and so will I! So we promised that we were both going to buy the PC version of this game and even though we'll be living far away from each other, we'll keep in contact with FFXIV :). We've always been FF nerds together and it's exciting that it's going to help keep us together as we both grow up. Final Fantasy rocks

there was no service and you felt like playing a singleplayergame with mmo-mode. the quests were nice, the traps oldschool and nice, too. but i wouldn't mention the term "quality" with guild wars... it was a better free to play mmo, not more.

I'm 80/20 on agreeing with your comment. Guild Wars gets boring after a while because you can solo almost everything since they added heroes and most of the time I'm just farming or running and if you can run Discord/Sabway, then there are only like 4 areas you can't solo.
But it's pretty fun sometimes when playing with friends. Doing HM missions with your own unorthodox builds is fun.
Looking at it from the outside, GW sucks. From the inside, it's an ok game.

Guild Wars relies on a continous retail model where they sell you additional content on a frequent basis.
And from their lack of balancing capability and support for their game, I'd have to say it didn't work out too well.

maybe not banning ppl for stuiped reasons such as 5 ppl using the same visa or master card that was rubbish 3 years of gamplay time wasted including rare/ex items and try not to have a raciest team of game masters and probably have ppl that actully play a game where major banning reasons revolves around judgment conducted 4 GM's fully aware of the whole situation FFXI GM system were crap ... imagin buying a kraken club for 30 m from a bazar and giving it back cause the GM says so

It's really amazing how much they addressed from FFXI, the problem is, they shouldn't be creating a whole nother MMO to address all the problems with FFXI, they should be fixing their original product.
I'm wholly unimpressed with their effort on FFXIV so far, if they really want to make another MMO, they need to bring in something beyond what other MMOs are doing, not improve on a game they didn't fix from nearly a decade ago.

The key word shouldn't be character development, nearly every single MMO ever made is primarily character development, the word RPG means character development in Video game context.
The key word should be tactics, the FF series isn't very action oriented, even though they stepped up the action with ATB before alot of other RPGs. They should be heralding tactical depth of gameplay that makes the gameplay interesting. Everything else is expected and natural for the FF series.

I played FFXI for over 2 years, and haven't played another since because none of them are good enough. I've studied every MMO and tested them ever since FFXI so I do know what their capable of, and graphics are not a relavent problem.
