The song is still great and Meg's voice here is very nice. I agree that different countries have different opinions as to what sound fits what, however this versions lacks the soulful heartache that Susan Egan's version brought to the screen. Where Susan's version has a harsher edge, this has a much softer side and seems as though it should have been accompanied by a more classical sound. Meg gets overpowered here by the Muses.

BTW you are totally correct, when they translate the words, they have to fit in time, so the message is the same but the words are totally are different. I always find the "stereotypical" voices of other cultures really interesting. Because they're so different! Meg's voice here is, presumably, a "tough-girl" type voice like Susan Egan's is here--but it's higher and less resonant, it comes through the nose a little more, whereas the American tough girl is pretty throaty and low-voiced. It's so interesting!!! (I'm a nerd.)
