  • Went to an all night jam session at the Karekare surf club with all the doors and windows open and sea breeze blowing in. Awesome vibes there. Really is a Magical Place to play music!

  • One of the top albums of all time. The best CH album for sure. This is a gem I didn't know existed. Thanks for posting it.

  • @Alwaystuned. part one of the documentary i mentioned ...

  • I have recently been to Karekare to really feel the vibe there and it has left a huge impression on me. Thank you for making this documentary available.

  • Their finest album, done!!

  • Fantastic!

  • Great to watch Hessie's high jinks. He was the soul of the band and its funny bone. Incredible drummer. Sorely missed.

  • thanks

  • I can't believe I've never seen this. This is AWESOME! Can't wait to see part 2!

  • Does anyone know where you can get these "making of" videos?

  • Disc golf?

  • This is such a cool documentary to get to see. This is one of my favorite CH records and I think it's very underrated. You've gotta love that gorgeous opening track "Kare Kare", plus "Fingers of Love" is so good too.

  • Magical place, magical album.

  • there is a song called called catherine wheel that is your best. play it

  • One of my fav albums of all time too. Head phones, night time. The perfect private universe album.

  • i agree, and neils peak as a vocalist?

  • Nah, he's still good. This album is very much the start of his sound as a solo artist I think.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I never even knew it existed, and this is one of my favorite albums of all time - I've always been curious about how and where it was recorded after reading little things about it over the years. The songs remain as haunting as ever. They really picked up some of the power of that landscape.

  • Absolutely mind blowing album.

the only way to listen to it is to pump it through the stereo :)

    amazing.

  • This is one of the best albums ever recorded.

  • Nice to know I've been pronouncing 'Kare Kare' the correct way for the last 14 years.

  • uhmmmm...i love this :)

  • This is wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this. I enjoyed it immensely!

  • a perfect album. with a perfect landscape. now i can understand the deep of the musical production in most of the songs in it.

  • Nice one! superb.

  • hexzeros -- thank you so much for this! I agree with kidheadcase; Neil is a f*cking genius!

  • Neil Finn is an f*#%ing genius!

  • Didn't Jane Campion film 'The Piano' in Kare Kare? If so, you can see how moody the place is. Really lent itself to the movie, too.

  • The moodier songs on this album are some of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!! This album is incredible. :)

  • thanks so much for posting this...I've been despearate to see it for years having read about it in "something so strong"

  • Me too...I've got a copy of that book myself and that section in the middle of it which goes into a lot of the drama and tension everybody seemed to feel during those months of recording "Together Alone" made for some particularly intense reading. They really worked *hard* on that album--their beach house location at Kare Kare was no vacation!!

  • What book are you referring to? I've found a couple of bio's on C.H. for sale thru Amazonbooks (USA) at exorbitant collector's prices, although one can easily argue they may be worth it!

  • wow ! where did you get this ?
