If it weren't for your video I would have actually had to call help desk...! Lol. My imac at home has the power button on the right, but the brand new one at work has it on the left side. Thanks for sharing!

This is stupid! I'm (house sitting) at my friends house, and he has one of these things...there is no obvious button that says "ON" I tried every button on the keyboard, pressed the apple logo on the screen, felt all around the edges of it, in the most obvious places for "ON", pressed the mouse, looked underneath...

I don't care if it's obvious to MaC users...this is stupid design....I literally wasted an hour of my life...

What you do is... talk to it in a quiet, relaxed tone of voice, letting your pitch get a little deeper (without being obvious)... and you can make casual contact with its hand, or thigh, and move a little closer, making lots of eye contact... you'll get the hang eventually.

Don't feel too bad. I started out with mac, but I've been using a pc for the past 6 years. I got the imac for Christmas and I came to YouTube hoping to find a tutorial. Thanks for posting your experience. I just turned my Mac on for the first time. I received it 3 days ago. LOL!

make sure the screen of the mac is and connected to the computer and make sure the moniter and computer is on and your elictricty is running

Macs used to have a key to turn them on from the keyboard. I spent $6000 in 1989, largely for that feature. Well, that, and you couldn't pay me to use a Windows machine prior to Win2k.

But it wouldn't have helped you here since the symbol on the power on key was just a cryptic triangle.
