  • This looks more like an upright tani otoshi rather than a scooping throw to me, since the main action isn't uprooting so much as tripping while driving. The step over isn't bad, but you might try to pull your tripping leg out from under into a side control after your opponent starts falling. I use that for tani otoshi and it prevents getting the leg caught under your opponent like it did at 1:00.

  • lower leg attacks seem like suicide, I study at hyland hills here in denver, it would be easy to gain a choke to counter this.

  • I have an important doubt: what is the counter for this throw?

In karatê we use this throw a lot, as you can observe Lyoto Machida using the same technique in several of his fights.

    Would it be a Uchimata?

Congratulations, great adaption of judo for a no gi combat.

  • Poor practice of this sweep, who steps forward with a cross? This should be demonstrated from a Jab side, and started from a boxing stance if to be properly used in mma.

  • this was the only sweep i knew for like 6 years lol naturally it was the shitty almost kung fu like version of this haha. terrible technique. your techniique is fantastic however! excellent explanation. i will use this next time i roll and tell ya how it goes :D

  • this was the only sweep i knew for like 6 years lol

  • this is a fantastic takedown. It is also found in Karate, Tai chi, and Aikido, but I really like how these guys transitioned it on the ground. Kudos!

  • NICE. 100% WORK in Street.

  • ...hm...how is this takedown suppose to work against a person really trying to punch? ....I mean..Im not gonna just leave my arm out there. ...Id snap my punch out there, and ..never really let you in that close.. Just curious, not trying to be a dick.

  • @Kaleidoscoptick I hear what you're saying but boxers slip punches regularly. This is essentially the same thing except the punch is slipped with a setup for the throw.

  • Hahahaha! This is just like the Capoeira Vingativa move... Never thought about it that way... I got someone in Judo practice using this and they were like... "Is that judo?"

  • that was nice .

  • I love Sukui Nague, I didn"t know this variation.

  • Thats a very gentle version of this throw. Other than that, best version I've seen on youtube.
