I'm pretty sure they tried to create a sound that sounds like their imaginary T-Rex by mixing sounds of already/still existing animals such as elephants. We all know there aren't any dinosaurs living on this planet anymore. Seems like they didn't succeed really well in mixing (and possibly editing) the sounds together. That's probably why you are able of recognising some sounds.
