I love hunting with my bird dogs. I know a lot of you out there don’t agree us outdoorsmen when it comes to the kill but we have to it’s genetic. @doopeydoh over protecting deer is worse than hunting! if populations are not kept in check by MANAGEMENT hunting tags then serious diseases develop like Cronic Wasting Disease (CWD). in an over protected area in alberta deer developed cwd and mass die offs occoured. the result, all deer in a 100 KM (1mile=1.3 km) radius died from the disease or were put down due to being infected. if you anti hunters win and hunting is no longer allowed animal populations will crash. try hiking in a dead forest

As a frequent Spring and Fall turkey hunter I'm concerned that many people do not have full appreciation of the difficulty involved in a true, fair chase turkey hunt. An unguided turkey hunt can be some of the most challenging hunting around.

Additionally, to say that hunting w/or w/o dogs is unethical is to ignore the tradition of training and hunting dogs, as well as woodsmanship.

I think that an equally good argument an be made that to not hunt is to waste a great renewable resource.

What's wrong with hunting with dogs? If anything, one could argue that hunting with dogs IS civilized. In our primitive state, we hadn't the intellect to use dogs - a much faster and better equipped animal - to our advantage. Hunting with dogs was never a 'downgrade' - it was an upgrade. Dogs are built for the chase take-down. Nature designed canid ancestors for this task, and Humans formed the domestic breed with this purpose in mind. Humans hunting with dogs is therefore, a 'civilized' sport.

Venisonfajitas...I do not use dogs to turkey hunt...many places do not allow fall turkey hunting except on private land. It is a good idea...but I would rather hunt and bust the flock on foot without dogs.

In many state preserves in Florida you can hunt with dogs for hogs and some allow it for deer but that is not the norm...they use gps collars to track and find the dogs as they can get lost on some of the large tracks of land with a variety of terrain like swamps etc.
