my high school women's choir kicks this groups ass. We sang this, rehearsed it together 4 times, didn't use music in a single concert (our director thinks it makes the choir look un-prepared when they use music at a concert, so we aren't allowed to hold music) and have at most half the girls this has. We sang at Carnegie Hall in New York this spring. win yes?
@krmurphy1222 Carnegie is relative. My choir's been asked to sing there many times, as have many choirs from our area--oh by the way, we're from Texas--and Carnegie always bumps whatever choir for whatever reason, usually an act that can pay better. So, yay for money?
Not to discount the over-all experience and grandeur of your experience, but you did just diss the top singers in my state, so yeah....Congrats though! It still must've been really cool.
@showjumper659 I agree with you when it comes to the Area-audition they are very technical on who makes it to the mixed or men's and women's choir.....I like that we have the blind audition process..I'm a 4 year all-stater from 2000-2003 so I understand the process...not sure if its still the same but when I did TMEA...80% was singing and 20% was sight reading...I knew a girl my senior year who couldn't sight read but she could sing her butt off she made 4th chair sop 1 in my Area
@krmurphy1222 LOL! Right! And the desert is cold in August, ice cream doesn't melt, poop doesn't stink, blowhards don't blow. LOL! I think most people that can read this comments would consider your comment, a comment made by a fool who just doesn't get it and would discard it if offered to you! LOL!
the reason why Texas All-State is good is NOT because of how big the state is. I had a friend in my school choir that was from missouri and she told me that when she auditioned, it was on a recording. The process in Texas is way harder... I auditioned 2 years in a row and I only got to Pre-Area because my sight reading is horrible but I am proud to say that I tried my hardest and I KNOW that Texas is the best! You cannot say that unless you have tried it! :) peace
...you guys do realize that the *only* reason TX All-State is so good is that it's a huge state? I mean it's wonderful and you should be proud, but plenty of other states have fantastic All-State choirs, and they don't have nearly as big a pool as Texas to draw from. Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa come to mind.
Niet, it's Texas has one of the hardest audition processes, it has nothing to do with the size, it's quality, not quantity. To get into the Texas All-State Mixed Choir as either an Alto or a Soprano, you'd better have a damn near perfect sight-singing score, which a lot of states do not even include in their audition process, which I just recently found out...?
@showjumper659 You honestly don't think that has anything to do with size? Texas can only be this selective because it's a huge state. Everything you said is only true because of Texas's size. Were you under the impression that South Dakota has enough singers to sift through a sight reading test? Of course not! There would be three singers left! TX's quality has everything to do with its quantity.
I remember when the girls did this song for tryout and I can sing the saprano1 part with no problem lol ... WELL DONT FORGET I AM A BASS2 / BARITONE LOL
This song is amazing! My choir is singing this for a concert in Avery Fisher Hall this summer with Eric Whitare conducting us. I bet this is going to be truely amazing since this sounds so good!

It actually sounds like every other all-state choral ensemble... just full of divas who dont believe in blending.
