I love original Stargate (1994) movie and never was a fan of its TV show (I prefer Babylon 5, Farscape, Earth: Final Conflict, Lexx, The 4400 etc) but being a huge Sci-Fi fan I had to watch this movie. It was interesting to see 2 leading stars from Farscape here - Ben Browder and Claudia Black. They were brilliant. Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Beau Bridges were great too but I still think that they missed a lot of action. Babylon 5 and Farscape made better "supporting" films
Now that the Ori are gone they could technically start using the super gate to conduct exploration in that other galaxy. We wont be seeing that anytime soon, however, since the new show "Universe" is set way off in the middle of nowhere.
Well you have it wrong about the stargate wormholes.
The gate dissembles an object then sends the base matter and the information needed to rebuild the object at the other gate.
If a object were to go through the wormhole without being dissembled then the object would be burned to pieces or frozen, this is because the wormhole might pass through a star or maybe northing and the object would be frozen from the coldness of space.
Wormholes also operate in subspace kinda like hyperspace.
the ori part is wrong. The Ancients who believed in the Ori stayed in the home galaxy of ancients and drove out the science loving ancients out of their galaxy.
Ori, Ancients are the same race. They split and both ascended. Also, the wraith are the Ancients as well. At some point some ancients joined with the eretus bug that gave them regenerative abilities and that look. So those humans are part bugs but have different tech as well. When fighting Ancients, those ancietns went to Earth, our galaxy and many ascended and stopped interfering with lower plane. Ori ancients went to another galaxy ascended and created a religion to suck the will from people.
The ancient eratus bugs evolved into the wraith. Since they took in ancient genetic information they slowly mimic they prey becoming the wraith. I thought it was weird that they slowly became what they ate over thousands of years.
i always liked the difference the stargate-universe made in terms of wormholes (!) through the gate they work almost instantly, but when generated by a ship they are so slow? so does the ship access some other plane of "hyperspace" for its travels than the gate? and if yes, why not build ships that can generate the same kind of wormholes as the gates do ... this is all too stupid
how would you know the wormhole was traversable both ends.
without the gates, the exit could be the size of the eye of a needle, meaning you get blasted out the other end is a super heated stream of... well mostly gas probably.
thats only one of a large spectrum of ways a stable wormhole could kill you.
Actually they did in the last episode of atlantis. But we dint actually see it happen. Besides wormhole drives require too much energy to operate so its not efficient.
Oooh I love the Ori gate design, it's new and original. I SOO wished they had used something like that for the Pegasus gate design, instead that horrible, cheesy, blue LED, vegas-ish, wheel-of-fortune design they came up with. :P
I never said I wanted them to look the same as ori's. I wanted the pegasus gates to look DIFFERENT than they did. Even if they are digital versions of MW gates, they're still ugly and cheap-looking as hell. Show me the schematics that say that an regular, gate-sized ori gate (NOT a supergate) would take more power than a MW or pegasus gate. It could have been segments suppoerted on a central ring instead of floating freely. Even that would have been more original than the crappy blue LED lights.
The Daedalus is the most combat tested and capable of all the 304s. Only the Apollo comes close.
I would include the Oddessy in that list but she lost her best commander when the Alliance highjacked her. And I wonder if her current commander is up to snuff. And large numbers of former crewmembers either have been or will be taken off to crew the Apollo and upcoming General Hammond.
The Oddessy has the asgard core, which is useful now there are no more ori, in the new movies Project Terzo and Project twilight (one for atlantis one for SG-1 not using the Wraith or Goa'uld in the movies) I think they might use the General Hammond
All 304 Battle carriers have been upgraded with the Asgard systems and It wouldnt be hard to beleive that they all have been givin the Asgard core to control there new systems.
Well in "Enemy at the Gate" Carter stated that the ship was almost ready for trials.
That would give Earth 5 304s, Im guessing 2 in the Milky way and 3 in the Pegasus Galaxy.
I never noticed the new one (not apollo) till enemy at the gate, and you forgot the Oddessey needs good protection for the asgard repostiory thingy, plus I knew the prometheus is really weak as the asgard shielding was built into the finished thing as the beaming but wht makes the Daedalus so powerful...?
The Daedalus fights well because her crew is battle tested. They have been fighting the wraith for 3 years and several of the crew did serve on the Prometheus before it was lost,
I personally think its about time we loose the Daedalus ship design's and go for something abit more powerful. The Daedalus is based upon all of SG1's accomplishments. Now with the entire city of Atlantis built upon the ancients pinnacle of technology. It's time to see a bit more powerful ships with Asgard and Lantean technology integrated into the design perhaps even a Stargate aboard.
Cant say i totally disagree with you, but i wouldnt get rid of them all together , Maybe we shall see new ships on the new movies, plus, a stargate needs great gravity of a planet for a stable connection
the oniell or aurora arent more powerful. for 1 thing in the SG1 episode-Camelot- there was an asgard oniell class which COULDNT kill any of the ori ships. the only ship to do that is a 304. for 2 lots of auroras die and ive only ever seen one 302 die....
Actually the O'Niel class ships are probly among the most powerful ships ever fielded by any power. The 304s are close to being the O'Niels equal but they lack the Asgards advance power systems. This prevents the 304s from truely matching the Asgard.
And so far, 1 304 has been lost in battle. All the rest have been beaten up but survived.
It would've been nice if the Asgard left them one O'Neill class ship. Seems like such a shame they destroied everything. I mean couldn't they have left some ships with the Nox [their allies]?
Having a massive Battleship would be agaisnt the Nox's beleifs and views.
Also Thor said he was just able to get the Council to approve passing on all there knowledge to the Humans. I dont think they would have approved Thor handing us a fully working Battleship.
guys the ori ships are huge but its nothing to the daedalus combine technology it posses remember that it has certain technology from the goulds, the asgards, the alterans and human engineering technology..making the daedelus more than a battle cruiser...the wraiths are even fearful of the human cruisers
btw anyone notice that compared to the Ori ships, the Daedalus class ships are tiny (example at end of ark of truth) but when both the ori ships and the odyssey go through, they just fit through the gate? :P:L
Wow, could anyone of you just begin to imagine what this scene would've been like in an IMAX theatre...gosh. The soundeffects, the image. And I already got all exited on my small tv screen...
I love that homage to the first movie. And the homage at the part just before this clip when they start the journey and Mitchell says "Weapons to maximum!... It's a joke." quoting from the episode 200. Made this whole part of the movie just fantastic.

Yeah... But I remember hearing one of the directors say that was a mistake in the movie because you can't see within the event horizon and that they wanted to correct it. Besides, the movie's was overly complicated and took a while. Still loved it but.
I personally love the whole Stargate saga but alas i think you may be reading into this abit too much. Most likely, the director he had a larger budget for this film and thort it mite look cool to show them passing through the event horizon.
Btw the part of the object that enters the horizon is disassembled as soon as it does so, pulling the person back does bring them back out again, sooo it could either mean that the information is stored in a buffer until the whole object passes though ....
You are right the object are stored in a buffer until no parts remain outside the Event Horizon then it sends it. The other buffer reintergrates the matter the way it was received.
yeh they talk abt it in the episode where teal'q stays like s second longer than he should and the ship destroys the stargate he just walked through so he ends up in the buffer of earths stargate
i think my clip of the stargate activation its more cool, it looks better for first thing, and you cann see when oddysey came out the hyperspace!!! ^_^_^!!!
i think that its pretty cool, the similarities, that means that they dont try to ignore or hide the first movie, since i watch it, and it have alot of direrent things, specially the stargate, its completely diferent, in other words, its a low-budget stargate made of plastic and the parts are badly pasted toghether!!! ^_^_^!!!

The TV shows may be over, however, Stargate is not! Books, DVDs, etc. The books are great and I have pre-ordered this movie and can't wait for the next.
I want Sg1 back also, but it is not MGM. MGM still wants to do stargate, hence the movies and their constant petitions for it to be picked up for an eleventh season on another network. The real bad guy is Sci-fi Channel which stopped ordering episodes and cancelled it "not on ratings, but they gave the producers enought time to complete the story line"-whatever that means. All I know is that the Sci-fi channel has garbage on it except Atlantis.
That really is amazing, so nice to finally see a visual effects shot like that :D its been a long time coming! Cant wait to see this! All hail SG-1 :D

We cant even make our own plasma weapons. The Asgard gave us that ability as well as the weapons themselves.

The TV shows may be over, however, Stargate is not! Books, DVDs, etc. The books are great and I have pre-ordered this movie and can't wait for the next.

bring back stargate sg1 Plz MGM

I want Sg1 back also, but it is not MGM. MGM still wants to do stargate, hence the movies and their constant petitions for it to be picked up for an eleventh season on another network. The real bad guy is Sci-fi Channel which stopped ordering episodes and cancelled it "not on ratings, but they gave the producers enought time to complete the story line"-whatever that means. All I know is that the Sci-fi channel has garbage on it except Atlantis.

Yea Sci-fi channel sucks balls. I wish another network like Sky would get the rights to order the show.
