Sad in a big way. What Archie says is the truth but today it would be glossed over by being too "Offensive" to minority groups or fags or whatever.

Now its just CSI whatever. Nobody wants to push boundaries anymore.

You have to blame it also on the Reagans and the Moral Majority and the way they went after pornography, illegal drugs and sexual perversions w/ the goal of pushing American culture away from the Sexual Revolution and the Vietnam War era. @mpjgbx Yes, Archie was trying for a promotion to a white-collar, management job and he thought that if he didn't have the grey hair he would have a better shot. He also volunteered for a "donation" the boss was pushing. He found out it was organ-donation, which he was afraid of. He washed out the black hair and told the boss his organs were in bad shape. Hearing this the boss gave Black Elmo the job.

Archie had a hilarious way of validating his bigotry. Whenever some1 asked him a serious thought question, Archie gave you his typical archie-ism that though sounded so wrong, it made sense if you didnt think logically. Either way- hes the best debater ever.

@stringerboi Logic is so hard to judge. Everyone assumes logic is the perfect thought process. Where each different thought you have has X number of outcomes and the perfect thought point would be this list of conclusions and actions taken. Logic it's self is flawed like religion is flawed, no matter where the perfect path of thought is said to be written, human interpretation per person has no duplicate. Logic used was written to show how something wrong can sound right with proper delivery.

In addition: This program showcased our political system to the tee. Archie representing the extreme and illogical right, "Meathead" representing the extreme and illogical left. Edith and Archie's daughter usually represented the middle ground. The common ground? All sides were good people, just a little misguided. Not like today where the side who preaches against hate are the most hateful, while the other refuses to change at all.

If you follow your theories of how we evolved from monkeys then this would not be so far off. Go find a video of chimps' mating rituals and you'll see. Also, this is a sit-com which is short for situation COMEDY. It's not meant to be taken seriously. The only reason this isn't appropriate today is people are way too sensitive. We aren't alive without a sense of humor.

Like I stated I have no problem with civil unions between ayone afiliated in the GLBT community. Most people in the GLBT get offended if it is stated 'they can't help it they were born that way". @CUALL8R I knew at the age of 5 that I was different. Back then I didn't know what it was or what it was called. Speaking from my personal life experience I did not chose to be gay. It's who I am. Once again, straight people don't consciously chose to be straight anymore than gay people conciously chose to be gay. Our sexuality is a part of who we are. "It's a lifestyle choice" is what is being used by many in an attempt to deny equality and not just in marriage.

@CUALL8R Marriage is a social and legal contract between 2 people. Many people chose to have a religious ceremony and that's fine but you can go to any judge in the land and get married. On the flip side, when a couple gets divorced they don't go to a church they see lawyers and go to court. However, back in the early days of the Catholic church the church did indeed bless same sex unions.
