Gates "profiled" Crawley as a "white" policeman that is going to somehow do him harm. Gates just needed to say "thank you" to the police for looking after his home. And as for the so called President of the United States... If he'd just get off the the "campaign trail" and actually ACT presidential for once, he would have avoided the whole mess. When asked the question about this incident, the Community Organizer in him couldn't resist throwing the Cambridge Police Dept under that bus.

I do understand the meaning. But people in the media and some I know say that Obama showed his true colors because what they see is a black man supporting another black man. With the limited funds that is budgeted for police, and the limited time frames they have to solve crimes, is not "profiling" a legitimate tool for police? A bad cop that abuses their power, is going to do it anyway; whether or not there is a profiling system. And conversely, is it not the smart use of time and funds to narrow the field of suspects for the honest cops? Profiling criteria is compiled using existing statistics; not just pulled out of thin air to pick on certain ethnic groups.

No, Obama's the one that stepped into a simple local arrest that had nothing to do with race except for Gates' outcries against Crowley. Gates refused to comply with the police, then began to raise hell about it OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE and it got to the point of public disturbance. The arrest has NOTHING to do with anyone's race.
