Put the pellets in an ice melt sock and not only will it last longer, cut deeper ice channels to drain water, and keep the ice melt on the roof from sliding off, it is approved by the

Canadian Housing and Mortgage Authority.

P.S. I used 'HEAT' brand ice melt, with calcium chloride.

This works GREAT! I filled both my wife's nylons AND a few melt socks, and they cut drainage channels into my ice dams! Took about 2 hours, BUT this is acceptable to me.
