This was one of the best PPV's in WCW history. Hogan had the biggest moment of his career. Then 4 years later @ the same event. Hogan did his last match 4 WCW, Then WCW went completely downhill!
does anybody else think dusty rhodes is like a fake ass JR. i mean i came up on wcw not wwf when u had a choice. the brain and dusty are good but i love jr and the king
How come WWE had guys like Aldo Montoya and Avatar when they could have resigned Scott Hall? It even says that he was going to sign but the WWf wouldnt make him World Champ even check the "Rise and Fall of WCW"
CMdrunk1, Scott Hall was a drunken drug addict who was unreliable and a total screw up, so McMahon rightly made the wise choice not to sign Hall again (McMahon only wanted to keep Nash). Hall messed up Wrestlemania 12 bad by refusing to work Golddust as he was booked to and he kept missing dates, so McMahon told him to go to rehab or he would not be signed again. Outside of the initial little buzz in WCW, Hall did nothing there and was gone for good by 1999 since he is a head case.
i miss these days i remember i was torn cause i wanted razor and diesel in wwf but hall and nash were bad ass in the nwo best storyline ever in wrestling its a shame they screwed it up in the end
@Bigrobowski10 Nash would have actually been smarter to stay in the WWF because he could have had Austin's spot before Austin got it. Nash was doing a cool tweener deal before he left the WWF where he was starting to feud with McMahon in a worked shoot way as Austin later would. Nash made big money for less dates by jumping and had an initial huge impact, but long term he would have done better staying in the WWF. Hogan quickly big footed Hall and Nash in the NWO as the top star.
@MRobert21 P.S. Wrestlemania III actually had less PPV buys than Wrestlemania II...it wasn't as if no one was watching before Hogan had a well-hyped, poorly-performed match with Andre. Don't forget how many "worst wrestler" "award" wins Andre had. He was very large and very likable (probably a great guy) but basically talentless.
@wrestlewes You are wrong about EVERYTHING, but thanks for playing. Who cares what "worst wrestler awards" you moron smarks who know NOTHING about working gave Andre? Actually, Andre was a scum bag and hated person, but he was an iconic wrestler and all time great draw. Pay per view was far more available in 1987 than it was in 1986, so Wrestlemania 3 had far more buys than Wrestlemania 2 did and was a far bigger financial success in every way, which is why it is still talked about today.
@MRobert21 Three things...1. I "start crap" because you're an asshole. You could argue with someone civilly if you knew how. 2. As someone who has studied BJJ for years, I'm pretty sure you're a fucking retard. If you foolishly engaged in a fight with a knowledgeable BJJ practitioner they could pull guard, sweep you, switch to side control and use your shirt to gain leverage as they put you in an arm triangle and made you unconscious ina matter of seconds. Idiot. (tbc)
@wrestlewes You start crap because you are a flaming smark troll who has no life and has nothing better to do. As I have better things to do than mess with flaming smark trolls like you, I will just ignore you on this video after this. You have nothing on topic or intelligent to say, so you rate no further use of my valuable time. Stay hid in your mom's basement or I will kick you in the balls (if you have any) and pull out your eyes while you are dreaming of what goofball MMA hold to use.
@MRobert21 3. I'm basing most of this on Dave Meltzer. The man so influential bookers would change entire cards based on his opinion. The man who started the 5 star system for grading matches. The first person to really be an "insider." The first person to report the details of The Montreal Screwjob. But I'm sure you know more than he does. You are quite possibly the biggest jerkoff I've encountered online. I hope you like yourself bc I doubt anyone else does. Good day.
@wrestlewes Oh yes, the patron saint of you retard smarks - The Meltzer. The man who gets EVERYTHING wrong, then claims all the wrestling bookers change things to fool him and his 5 fan boys. The man who never took a bump or had a match and thinks he can grade how legendary performers do their job. The man who ripped off the 5 star system that has ALWAYS existed to grade restaurants and movies and misapplied it to wrestling. The man who has been totally disproved about Montreal for years.
@MRobert21 The fact you refer to BJJ as "MMA holds" shows your ignorance. You mean bjj or "submission attempts" not "holds." Furthermore, MMA encompasses Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, many other things. You may be the most misinformed and/or ignorant person that's ever tried to speak on the subject. If you know more than Meltzer maybe you should be legendary in the sports entertainment community. Maybe Bill Simmons should have you on his show. I'm done...you epitomize what sucks ab youtube.

Bash at the Beach 1996, number three of my top five favorite wrestling events:
5. WrestleMania 17
4. Beach Blast '92
3. Bash at the Beach 1996
2. Starrcade 1997
1. Starrcade '83
Bash at the Beach 1996 started the New World Order, but it also brought the best action money could buy. And the action kept getting better until 1998.
@AMEwrestling My top 5 favorite wrestling events of all time in order of greatness from best to worst are these 5 here:
1. Wrestlemania 3
2. Wrestlemania 17
3. Wrestlemania 14
4. ECW 1 Night Stand 1
5. Royal Rumble 1992
You will notice that nothing from minor leagues like WCW, TNA, AWA, et cetera makes my top 5 or even top 25 list. Starrcade 1997 had great hype for a miserable show that was a creative flop. Bash At The Beach 1996 had the memorable heel turn, but nothing else was too good
Wrestlemania 3 was a piece of crap. Don't tell me you like it because of Hulk vs. Andre. Only good match was Steamboat vs Savage. Royal Rumble 1992 was not so great with the exception of Flair's tainted win. Starrcade 83 was my favorite because it had great action, blood, violence, and the cage match with Race vs Flair. Starrcade 83 was the goriest of all Starrcades.
@AMEwrestling You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. The guy who carried your sainted Starrcade 1983 (which was just a failed attempt to do what McMahon perfected 2 years later with Wrestlemania) Harley Race was not good enough to even be mid card at Wrestlemania 3 because the card was so powerful. Gore does not equal a great show as it is just cheap heat by the way. Wrestlemania 3 set the North American attendance record with 94,000 fans (about 6 times the number Starrcade 83).
In case you didn't watch Rise and Fall of WCW, the Crocketts paid Vince McMahon $1 million to get WCW back to Jim Crockett Promotions. What did Vince do with $1 million? Put that toward producing Wrestlemania. So before you start talking smack about Starrcade 83, show some respect for Jim Crockett Promotions, they paid for Wrestlemania. Big crowds don't make great events, it's great storylines and true wrestling passion that make great events.
@AMEwrestling You know nothing, so this is my last word to you on this video since you do not rate me wasting my time. The Crocketts did not "get WCW back" as they never had WCW until McMahon bilked them for $1 million in 1984 and nothing about that sale had anything to do with Wrestlemania. Big crowds come to great events and nothing Crockett ever did drew the crowds and money that McMahon did both live and on pay per view. Wrestlemania 3 was global mainstream news and not some WCW hick crap
Are you telling me that the Crocketts didn't try their best? Yes they made mistakes because Crockett was crossing lines without knowing how to attract events. You lost this argument, goodbye.
@WELCOMETOHAVOK I ignore all you flaming smark troll losers who just try in vain to pick fights with me when you have nothing interesting, intelligent, or on topic to say just like I am going to ignore you now on this video here after this.
@comicbookfan19 I guess being a comic book fan explains why you can not spell, capitalize, punctuate, or use the English language properly (you must look at comic books just for the pictures). I certainly know more about wrestling than you do you retard, but even if I did not know wrestling, at least I can spell words like ONLY and VINCE, so I have you beat by a mile on the evolutionary chain. Wrestling has ALWAYS been sports entertainment and McMahon coined that term in 1985, you know nothing
@comicbookfan19 Wrestlemania 3 was the greatest event of all time that wrestlers and fans talk about today because it made wrestling mainstream. You prove how little you know by praising Wrestlemania 10 and 12 that did little business and Wrestlemania 11 that was a catastrophic disaster that almost bankrupted the WWF. McMahon beat WCW because he is a genius and his entire life is wrestling, so he was never going to surrender to a greedy leftist corporation. Austin was 0 before McMahon made him
@comicbookfan19 The only things you are right about are that McMahon is the greatest promoter ever and he made wrestling mainstream with Wrestlemania 3. Andre had actually done many jobs in his 15 years in wrestling before Wrestlemania 3, but the genius of McMahon hid that. McMahon took the best wrestlers from WCW and made them, stars like WCW NEVER could, so he always had the best wrestlers. Wrestlers and people who know what working is really all about know Hogan / Andre was a great match.
@comicbookfan19 First of all, your so called description of the Hogan / Andre match is totally inaccurate (you forget things like Hogan taking a back drop on the floor for the FIRST TIME EVER in his career), so you make yourself look like a fool. Second, you are just the generic know nothing smark who thinks working is how many times a wrestler falls down and how many flippy dippy spots there are, which is NOT working. Hogan was a bigger LONG TERM draw than Austin, who only drew for 4 YEARS.
@MRobert21 that is funny how you say that iam one of them guys that just like the flippers which is laughable if you knew me at all you would know how wrong you are . i hate people who are just flippers . i like wrestliers who can do it all .
working is a combination of charisma strength speed submission and high flying.
sting could talk he was strong used submision and could high fly which is what made him great same with micheals and flair.
@comicbookfan19 I know you because you are the generic, comic book loving, McMahon hating, flaming smark troll like all the others who WRONGLY thinks working is how many times a wrestler falls down, how many flip flops a wrestler does, and how many weird looking MMA like rest holds a wrestler applies (since you have NEVER had a real fight to know nobody would do that stuff in a real fight). As you have NOTHING on the topic of the video or intelligent to say I am just ignoring you on this video.
@MRobert21 i hate mma for that very reason i have been in plenty of fights
oh i hate mcmahon because saying someone is the best at what they do is a clear sign of hate . i also hate micheal jordan sting and nirvana when i say they are the best at what they do . oh and i will take this as a clear yes on the cena question .
@MRobert21 So you had some valid points in your argument with the comic book fan...but do you have to be such an asshole to strangers? really? People might even listen to you if you showed them any sort of respect. And if you don't care if ppl listen to you, why are you typing in the public forum?
And wtf is this about MMA "holds" that can't happen in a real fight? I'm not sure what you're referring to but if you don't think BJJ is applicable, you clearly don't understand martial arts.
@wrestlewes All you flaming smark troll retards start crap with me (as you are now out of the blue), so I mock you and put you all in your place. Unlike you anonymous twits, I would do it to your faces too if you were not just a bunch of cowards hiding in your mom's basements. I am sure you have never had a real fight or else you would know all those goofy MMA holds are unrealistic and never happen in a real fight. In a real fight you are just as tough as your eyes and your balls.
Dusty Rhodes is an all time great talker in the wrestling business, but doing commentary is different than cutting promos, so Dusty is not as good at commentary. I give WCW credit for stealing Hall And Nash after McMahon made them stars (WCW had them both before that and had no clue what to do with them), stealing their gimmicks the WWF created, and lying for a couple of months and pretending they still worked for McMahon (a law suit stopped that) to make WCW's 1 and only hot angle ever.
@rayrayALA Saturn and Raven in WCW were the opposite of hot and they never drew a penny. Saturn and Raven were so bored with being meaningless mid carders that they each gave up big money to walk out on WCW (Raven went back to the bingo hall in ECW and Saturn rode the coat tails of the more talented Guerrero and Malenko to get to WWF).
@MRobert21 during this time STAURN vs RAVEN was something almost all wcw fans liked to see, They had the best matches, yes they were midcarders, but their feud brought about the end of the flock. It was great, i know me and everybody else i knew talked about these 2 midcarders when they had their feud.
@rayrayALA Big deal, you and the few fellow smarks still watching WCW at that time marked out for your web heroes Raven and SATURN working each other (for the millionth time). A HOT ANGLE is an angle that draws money and produces ratings, which is the opposite of Saturn and Raven messing around for the amusement of smarks. The whole Flock angle never drew anything and WCW was happy to rid itself of Raven's over inflated contract since he never meant anything outside of the bingo hall.
@MRobert21, LOL please your crackin me up, coming at me with the smarks comment, no little buddy maybe you should learn what a smark even is, i'm talking about shit that was true, a HOT ANGLE is alot of things that was in wcw, even saturn vs raven, NWO was the best, but not the only one, me knowing that FACT doesnt make me a smark, it means i have more common sense and perspective than you
@rayrayALA YES, you are just another generic internet smark trying to put yourself over by marking for crap that drew NO MONEY and nobody watched much less liked. Since you are off the topic of this video and have nothing interesting to say, I am just going to ignore you on this video after this last comment. The ONLY HOT ANGLE WCW had in its final 15 years of existence was the NWO because that was the ONLY angle that drew money and created new fans (unlike this side crap you smarks love).
@MRobert21 LOL, seems to me you're the smartmark, thinking you know so much, i actually watched this WCW, and knew what was hot and what was not, saturn vs raven was hot. Not as hot as nwo, but it was hot. My point has been proven, you're the mark who knows NOTHING about anything. Fuck you and whatever you THINK you know, because you're just full of shit. case closed, im not even gonna read what else you try to say, i'll just keep giving it thumbs down until i cant see it anymore.
@romeroisking I really liked Rey in WCW.. WWE Rey blows hard ass . And, I always loved Jericho in WCW.... WWF/WWE Jericho not as awesome. By the way... this is coming from a hardcore WWF fan who didnt love WCW.
@AgentEJA REALLY?? THIS is bigger than Wrestlemania X-7, which ended the attitude era, airing the same year as Vince bought WCW? THIS more important and historic than THAT?...okay.
This was the biggest ppv EVER! i always enjoy psycosis entrance msuci

sting could talk he was strong used submision and could high fly which is what made him great same with micheals and flair.
you just like the big guys.
you like cana right.
comicbookfan19 1 year ago
@comicbookfan19 I know you because you are the generic, comic book loving, McMahon hating, flaming smark troll like all the others who WRONGLY thinks working is how many times a wrestler falls down, how many flip flops a wrestler does, and how many weird looking MMA like rest holds a wrestler applies (since you have NEVER had a real fight to know nobody would do that stuff in a real fight). As you have NOTHING on the topic of the video or intelligent to say I am just ignoring you on this video.
MRobert21 1 year ago
@MRobert21 i hate mma for that very reason i have been in plenty of fights
oh i hate mcmahon because saying someone is the best at what they do is a clear sign of hate . i also hate micheal jordan sting and nirvana when i say they are the best at what they do . oh and i will take this as a clear yes on the cena question .
oh and if your ignoring me then i guess i win.
comicbookfan19 1 year ago
@MRobert21 So you had some valid points in your argument with the comic book fan...but do you have to be such an asshole to strangers? really? People might even listen to you if you showed them any sort of respect. And if you don't care if ppl listen to you, why are you typing in the public forum?
And wtf is this about MMA "holds" that can't happen in a real fight? I'm not sure what you're referring to but if you don't think BJJ is applicable, you clearly don't understand martial arts.
wrestlewes 1 year ago
@wrestlewes All you flaming smark troll retards start crap with me (as you are now out of the blue), so I mock you and put you all in your place. Unlike you anonymous twits, I would do it to your faces too if you were not just a bunch of cowards hiding in your mom's basements. I am sure you have never had a real fight or else you would know all those goofy MMA holds are unrealistic and never happen in a real fight. In a real fight you are just as tough as your eyes and your balls.

I was at this event back in 96,we sitting next to the camera man,it was awesome, until the crowd rioted, then it got real fun

this is why mondern day WWE needs a competiton like WCW. when they compete, it brings the best out of both companies.

dusty rhodes is so overratted as a talke he is just a rambiling fat fool
CODEBREAKER1988 2 years ago
Dusty Rhodes is an all time great talker in the wrestling business, but doing commentary is different than cutting promos, so Dusty is not as good at commentary. I give WCW credit for stealing Hall And Nash after McMahon made them stars (WCW had them both before that and had no clue what to do with them), stealing their gimmicks the WWF created, and lying for a couple of months and pretending they still worked for McMahon (a law suit stopped that) to make WCW's 1 and only hot angle ever.
MRobert21 2 years ago
@MRobert21 saturn and raven had a hot angle
rayrayALA 1 year ago
@rayrayALA Saturn and Raven in WCW were the opposite of hot and they never drew a penny. Saturn and Raven were so bored with being meaningless mid carders that they each gave up big money to walk out on WCW (Raven went back to the bingo hall in ECW and Saturn rode the coat tails of the more talented Guerrero and Malenko to get to WWF).
MRobert21 1 year ago
@MRobert21 during this time STAURN vs RAVEN was something almost all wcw fans liked to see, They had the best matches, yes they were midcarders, but their feud brought about the end of the flock. It was great, i know me and everybody else i knew talked about these 2 midcarders when they had their feud.
rayrayALA 1 year ago
@rayrayALA Big deal, you and the few fellow smarks still watching WCW at that time marked out for your web heroes Raven and SATURN working each other (for the millionth time). A HOT ANGLE is an angle that draws money and produces ratings, which is the opposite of Saturn and Raven messing around for the amusement of smarks. The whole Flock angle never drew anything and WCW was happy to rid itself of Raven's over inflated contract since he never meant anything outside of the bingo hall.
MRobert21 1 year ago
@MRobert21, LOL please your crackin me up, coming at me with the smarks comment, no little buddy maybe you should learn what a smark even is, i'm talking about shit that was true, a HOT ANGLE is alot of things that was in wcw, even saturn vs raven, NWO was the best, but not the only one, me knowing that FACT doesnt make me a smark, it means i have more common sense and perspective than you
rayrayALA 1 year ago
@rayrayALA YES, you are just another generic internet smark trying to put yourself over by marking for crap that drew NO MONEY and nobody watched much less liked. Since you are off the topic of this video and have nothing interesting to say, I am just going to ignore you on this video after this last comment. The ONLY HOT ANGLE WCW had in its final 15 years of existence was the NWO because that was the ONLY angle that drew money and created new fans (unlike this side crap you smarks love).
MRobert21 1 year ago

Behold, the most historic and important PPV event in wrestling history!
AgentEJA 3 years ago 26
@AgentEJA would you say moreso than Survivor Series 1997?
Necrocide187 10 months ago
@AgentEJA REALLY?? THIS is bigger than Wrestlemania X-7, which ended the attitude era, airing the same year as Vince bought WCW? THIS more important and historic than THAT?...okay.
LKSPR13 7 months ago
@LKSPR13 X-seven wasn't as big as WMXIV. and the "Most important PPV in history" Would probably go to Wrestlemania III or Starrcade 86.
