  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • Cannon in D in Marimba !!!

  • 4:30 is so awesome. love it

  • I want to play this piece, but I don't have, nor does my school own a 5-octave marimba. If I brought the low end stuff up an octave, will it be do-able? if anyone has tried, please reply. I might be taking this down to SJVCGP.

  • @percussionluver - It is doable but the bass tones really fill out the piece. It's just like playing the Bach Cello Suites on a 4 1/3

  • why would anyone dislike this

  • She looks really familliar...

  • @sGpMikeF Hi, I bought mine from Steve Weiss Music! It's a beautiful piece :)

  • does anybody know where I can get this music from? i have to get it AWESOME

  • @ocallinpSteve Wiess music

  • @Percnumber1 Steve Wiess Music...

  • Have you learned it with Notes or only from hearing?

  • @Fkay1996 she wrote it

  • that good work and good interpretation, I might give the score

  • Does anyone have the sheet music? i am german and i can't buy them via Internet...-.- too expensive cause of postage and stuff..

Verdammt super, vielen Dank! :)

  • Damn she's good that looks hard as hell

  • @M3ssageT4k3n she wrote it

  • @SHdrummerguy08 its still hard as hell lol

  • magnifique!!

  • beautiful! what mallets are you using?

  • @gloriaa657 Probably her mallets. Encore NM3B or NM4B

  • this is a fantastic arrangement. Is is commercially available anyway? I play marimba at weddings and would love to ad this to my repertoire

  • @Vince4815162342

    Yes. Its on steve weiss.

  • @jtfarrel for germans as well? i am german and i can just buy it at some .com stores... and so the postage and stuff would be very expensive...

  • Wow! One of the most gifted artists/musicians I've heard in a long time! You are so very talented! I couldn't take my eyes off of your work for six minutes and three seconds. Thank you for sharing this with us! I am your number one fan! Two sticks in each hand playing diferent notes and styles at the same time! Wonderful!

  • Loving the slow jam at :51. =P

  • I e

    Any to be like you!!!!

  • inspiring

  • wonderfull! I've played marimbaphone and vibraphone for 10 years. what a waste of time...

  • Does anyone know where the section from 2:10 to 3:03 comes from? The music that I got of this from Honeyrock does not have that, it goes straight to the section at 3:03.

  • @rarogar that is because it is improvised

  • wauw! beautiful!!! i love this song ;d did you arranged this by yourself?

  • @mrsmusicstar I love when people don't read video descriptions...

  • @SHdrummerguy08 Or rather, I should say I love when people assume world-class musicians would have a youtube account named "808stix"

  • wow...

  • good job your really good at whatever you do keep it up and never quit on your dreams cuz they will come true forever

  • SMITH

  • Hey you played with ashley

  • Could somebody send me the music sheet of this piece?

  • @Szakimester no. buy it like I did and support the artist if you like it so much :P

  • If only my arms weren't short :/

  • @MrBerenstain- she arranged this herself. She has notes made but as of 2001-2 ish, she had no full transcription. I asked her after she debuted it in a clinic at U of O when I was an undergrad. She made that music cool again. We talked and joked about many options she had to run with that piece and she almost never plays any music the same twice. She changes solos depending on how she feels at the time. So yeah, improve on classical marimba!

  • @infinity182yahoo that's incredible! thank you for that. you've inspired me to practice more. imagine being able to just change a solo like that because of how you feel. :] what an incredible player.

  • what mallets are those???

  • 1 day I shall be able to play this song... it sounds to beautiful it would we a shame never be able to play it...

  • Looks like Burton grip

  • @DCILBsnare It's Traditional Grip. Top mallet is on the inside and 99.5% of people from Japan play traditional.

  • Oops wasn't on my account!! This is actually me

  • Is it possible to give us tutorials on a simple marimba part?

  • Would you happen to know what mallets she used? I want to try to replicate this exact sound when i play this. Great recording by the way! If it wasn't for this, I would have never heard of this piece.

  • I Adore you! Thank you.

  • Note accuracy on this is a pain. I'm trying to play it on a marimba with big bars and some of the chords I physically cannot reach. I give her a lot of credit for making this appear so easy. She is incredible and I wish I could play this like her. :)

  • is there a way to get the sheet music for this?

  • great!

I'm am playing the Nathan Daughtery arangement for my final exam.

but this one is more beautiful!

and Yamaha marimba's sound f'n awesome!

  • kinda funny how u browse the videos and every marimba is different looking. BTW the vid is awesome

  • What kind of grip are you using? I couldn't really tell but great job on the piece.

  • @arthas63794851

I'm pretty sure she uses traditional. though it is hard to to tell if its burton or traditional from this.

    man I love this...

  • Comment removed

  • @cjsk8r75

Sorry for not clarifying. I definitely do not consider Stevens to be traditional. What I meant is I can't tell between Burton and traditional because I can't see which shafts are over which.

  • @mfsradrumma yea that was my fault to some extent lol. i spoke too soon, i dont actually know all of the grip styles. :/

  • @cjsk8r75 btw it is traditional grip. the inner mallets are above the outer mallets.

  • @mfsradrumma btw it is traditional, if you look closely at her left hand, the outside mallets are above the inner mallets

  • @cjsk8r75

haha it is all good my friend,

    and thank you!

  • @mfsradrumma lol still typed it wrong, outside below the inner

  • do you know what kind of mallets she was using?

  • Man! I wish I was as good as you!

  • Incredible! I'm definitely buying this piece and learning it. Thank you for posting!

  • Comment removed

  • Message me with your e-mail address if you would like this sheet music! It's a wonderful piece that's very hard!

  • @drummr4JC Why don't you support her and her work. You can order this arrangement online.

  • coolest thing in the whole world! love it!

  • Comment removed

  • I think it's incredible that you did the melody at 1:30 with you four mallet while you're doing the bass in your one and two and your harmony with your three. That's hard.

  • @scorpclaw yes it is but your talking about nanae mimura here, not just any other marimbist

  • For everyone else who's looking for sheet music, I bought it from Steve Weiss about 2 months ago. If it's not on their website, call them and ask them about it. Sometimes they may have it listed differently or can find it for you.

  • Really nice. Very good sound, and I like the piece :)

  • What amazing work she did! Tx for sharing!

  • I'm nervous to even post something on this........damn.....just damn

  • Very enjoyable. I wonder how much that fancy marimba costs. Please send me one for free.

  • SOUNDS SOO BEAUTIFUL!! I Truly wish i can play like this she is soo brilliant

  • Where did you buy this sheet music?! It's absolutely gorgeous and I would like to perform it myself.

  • when can i find sheet music for this? this is an incredible arrangement

  • YOU ARE A GODESS!

  • BUAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S FANTASTIC!

  • ohhhh! my keyboard has this mode i was wondering y it sounded so funny...

  • this is Awesome! I want to learn this song now

  • You have a great sound quality!

  • after playing this piece, you will be very good at hand contrary motion. the 6th and 3rd interval in the right and if you aren't already...the octave and 5th in the left. in addition you will definitely be better and reaching and squats.

  • Does anyone know what mallets is she using?

  • this piece is much harder than it looks

  • i recently started playing this and it is much harder than it looks.

  • Does anyone know what mallets she is using in this?

  • I'm George -solveicoagula- from Barcelona (SP) and I've never heared only a person touching so well an instrument like this. And I think is the better "variation" Canon's Pachelbel I know!

Is perfect! All is perfect and beautiful: Miss Nanae Mimura, the marimba and the theatre!! Congratulations and Thank you for this marvellous "Transformation".

    Goodbye and greetings!!

  • Just orderd the music for this cant wait to have a go at it :) , started my own arrangement but fancied having a bash at this.. x

  • Good lord, this thing grooves so well...so sweet (:

  • Wow, you must be epic with chopsticks! Loving your dynamics! Good job!

  • bello!! exelent!! where i can get that music? i want to play that! jejeje

  • cannon in D is one of my favorite pieces, so versatile, and you really proved that,

i like the lo-fi sound, makes it feel very 'real' not all studio'd out.

  • Oh i want to play this so badly now!

  • beautiful

  • ive just heard one of the most beautiful versions of this piece ever

thanks to you ! thank you ever so much !! so hypnotic and relaxed yet exciting and emotional !! full of passion i think id cry if i went to one of your concerts !!!! if you do them that is :D !!!

  • you are one talented woman :)

  • daaannng

i might get this for a solo and im a freshmen in high school lolz

  • well....

this version is defferent from mine

bul i like it better :)

    Love It !!

  • 3:01 to 4:17 had me eating out of my hands.

  • @DrumManTX Unfortunately, in her arrangement that she has published, that section before and during that isnt in it. =[

  • exellent job and great song choice. What kind of mallets are you using. and i cant really see what grip you are using is it burtan?

  • World class is an understatement, this is out of this world for sure, lovely and Divine!

  • Hello great job! I was wondering is this a piece that you can buy or is something that you just took from piano and put it on to marimba? I was wondering this because this would be a fun piece to learn in my spare time. Thank you for your time :)

  • You can. Type in Transformation of Pachelbel's Canon by Nanae Mimura

  • Awesome!!!!!!! bravo!!!!!!!!!!

  • does this require a 5-octave marimba?

  • Nice!! Where can I get the scores???? :-)

  • im still going to marry you miss Mimura

  • süpermiş valla..

  • it is a damn shame you recorded from your camera.

perhaps you can do a subtraction of the running noise, but basically it really gets in the way of this piece. I suggest a portable recorder next time for such an amazement. the zoon h4n allows you to connect two balanced stereo condenser mics. you could set one below and above the marimba and it will be awesome. keep filming and give us a little more keys next time. peace from the west coast canada...vasyLko

  • @aquiferarts brah! you act like I record and post on you tube for a living! I was just a student in the class. If he wanted that kind of recording, my professor would have paid the media production center to record. Be happy got what you got.

  • @808stix still a damn shame. and we can still do things well, even if we dont make money of it.

peace and keep you ear to the music.

  • @808stix I am surly not against a out of the whim recording of whatever you may come across, regardless of quality. I was under the impression that this was a recital and that being in such a nice acoustic spot that microphones would be handy or at the least supplied.... furthermore, i was intrigued and cared to even post, because this is one of the best Transformations of Canon to Marimba.

only if we could do such things as post youtube for a living.... i would go insane. cheers,

  • @aquiferarts It's cool. It was kind of a last minute thing. I was a little more worried about prepping for my master class than getting a trip pod or a good camera.

  • @808stix I thought it was incredible.

  • @808stix Student in a class? Who is your teacher? Zivkovic? that was amazing

  • @aquiferarts i understand your concern for better quality for this recording which it deserves but...i didnt even notice the running noise until you pointed it out. that can be easily overheard if you focus completely on the beauty of this piece

  • Where can you get a mp3 type version of this song? I want it played in the background of my beach wedding. Thank you

  • Where can you get a mp3 type version of this song? I want it played in the background of my beach wedding. Thank you

  • @norwaylin you could hire her to play lol

  • @norwaylin you can download this and then convers it to mp3

  • Dear Nanae,

I love you. One day, when we have wed, there will be nothing more in my life i desire, because i will have you.

    Love,

    JackJack

  • YOU GO GIRL!!!! I have NEVER EVER heard the Marimba played like that!! YOU ROCK!! When did you start playing the Marimba? You are AWESOME!!

  • TenStarsplus !!!! Bravo!!! Fantabulous !!!! A beautiful rendition of one of my favorites!!! If anyone doesn't like the way she improvised on this they need to listen to The Christmas Canon, by The Trans-Siberian Orchestra!!!! They also add their own touch to this magnificent work of art!!! By the way, the lady playing this is a real work of art also!!! She's really a hottie!!!!! Thank you so much for posting this wonderful video!!!!!!!!

  • partie tres bonnie!

  • TenStarsplus !!!!!!!! Fantabulous !!!!! Bravo!!!!! This is one of my all time favorite compositions, and on a Marimba yet!!!!! A hard piece for an orchestra let alone one person!!!! You brought tears to the eyes of this big tough ol' guy!!!! Thank you for posting this wonderful video!!! I love it !!!!!

  • i LOVE this arrangement. does anyone know where i could get sheet music to this. i doubt i would do it justice but would love to learn it for my own private study.

  • @ArkadooKid The sheet music is slightly different but close enough to this video. It is available from HoneyRock I believe. Google the piece and it will come up - I think you can download it for 7-8$

  • really nice. excellent performance :D

  • this piece very great... im using it as my audition piece to get into GSA and its going great... anyone whos plays will enjoy it. its very technical but worth it

  • trop trop beau !!!!!!

  • Incredible!

  • that's really good

  • wow! She's really good! Where can I find a copy of this piece?

  • It was released on her CD Marimba Spiritual

  • Comment removed

  • really beautiful!!! she plays so full of feeling!

i hope she'll come to europe. really beuatiful!!

  • This is pure beauty! This really deserves a professional recording... the sound quality is crap, but still the music dances...

  • me encanta el video!

  • i hate playing with Burton grip but she makes it look so beautiful!!

  • She's actually using traditional grip. Just to let you know, her mallet orientation is reversed....i.e her right hand has her outside mallet under the inside, as opposed to burton grip. Hope this helps :)

  • and graceful!

  • She is a marimba beast! and that marimba is soooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • wats her age? o.o

  • I don't know her exact age, but she is faculty at a conservatory

  • i see... she looks young..

  • The marimba looks exactly like the one my school just bought for 10k two years ago... Its 5 octaves...and its soooo pretty lol

  • That's exactly what i was talking about... listed price

  • Love this vid

FYI, the Yamaha YM-5100AC (which is what this looks like) sells for about $11.4k but the MSRP is $21.7k. So maybe theblackcomp111 is not talking "street" prices.

  • i own one it cost me about 11k new...but it came with the travel cases but the price of wood keeps going up each year so who knows what it will be in the future.

  • the way she moves with the marimba is so beautiful.

  • This piece is amazing and very beautiful. I really want to play this. And to theblackcomp111, I've never seen a marimba cost that much. Prove that you're right.

  • i sent you the link in a message.

  • dude... you're wrong. thats concert series. 22 grand minimum . prove me wrong...

  • dude. . . .seriously this marimba is 14k. 15k max. . .my university has one.

  • @theblackcomp111

$11,495. My friend purchased that same marimba. So no, it isn't 22 thousand.

  • @dbrockbassoon lol owned.

  • nanae mimura still shows why she is my absolute favorite marimba virtuoso EVA!

  • that marimbas worth 22 thousand

  • that is just a yamaha 5 octave its definitely not worth 22 thousand. Probably 15 thousand at most but I would guess around 10 thousand

  • best interpretation i have ever heard... absolutely marvelous

  • can you even call it an interpretation? she kind of arranged this.

  • HEY! this is pretty cool! haven't heard this take on it before....and she just played this in a masterclass? (Btw, it's 'Canon', not 'Cannon') Even does a tribute to the original at 4:28. Thanks for the upload!

  • Oh my god.. sheet music please!! i'm a freshman in highschool and i want to show up the douchebag seniors this year.. please!!

  • tool!

  • Comment removed

  • wait 5.5 octave?! i dont think they come that large...
