One could train monkeys to perform what these two are doing !! It has nothing to do with Bolero. Just because you are the world champions, doesn't give you the right to choose to dance Bolero to music that has nothing to do with Bolero. Much better choice would have been to dance Argentinian Tango because Argentinian Tango is not danced to the beat of the music as Bolero IS, AND SHOULD BE !! .
@zxcvbnrebus Because a group of people say the are world champions, it doesn't mean they are. Did we the world vote? NO. Here you can see the result of their monkey business. Crap.
I worked for Bruno and Luann in Fort Walton Beach when they became the World Champions in Theater Arts. To the people posting that this is not a Bolero what you have to understand is there are Bolero elements within the routine but ultimately it's Theater Arts. This allows lifts. When I was teaching if you took your foot off the ground you were penalized, so as you can see they did lifts. I wish their Over The Rainbow routine was online. It's the most beautiful routine you would have ever seen
These are great dancers. They did their best. They are ballroom dancers. It's their own interpretation of this music. U'd have a different interpretation of it all. U'd dance it differently for sure. Dance is movement.
This is a bolero exhibition. As such u r allowed to do lifts and many other stuff that u r not allowed do if competing. So keep giving ur opinions. Opinions are similar and different and are based on ur knowledge of the matter. Xoxoxoxo, love, elthinker.
Bruno and Luann are amazing dancers , teachers and choreographers , i had the pleasure to have him as my first choreographer in the Ballroom world . Please dont post comments if you are not quelified , this is an extremely gorgeous interpretation of bolero which is the same music that rumba , not everything has to look the same . This people are great dancers.
dey not doin it the way i knw it.....bolero is different frm rumba... it has a diff technique. i doh knw wat they doiin but it look like ballet instead of latin
Bolero is comparable to the international rumba...the american rumba is faster...bolero is slower and the technique is much different. in bolero, there is more of a tango hold and no cuban motion..there is also rise and fall, like in waltz. but it is 4/4 timing, and quick quick slow
@bairen2002 Sorry, but I couldn't help but notice you said, "there is absolutely no connexion between the music and the dance" I'd like to correct you by saying that ALL dance that uses music, have connections to each other, unless the intention is to contrast. Watch this dance again for example, and look for all the connections between the dancers and the music.

It's like a Rumba, only faster and without the hip action. I didn't really see anything that would make it stand out from the other styles.

I heard the Bolero is just a faster version of the Rumba. True or not true?

The film, Dirty Dancing, is still the gold standard for feeling and artistry. this is very stylized. Not my cup of tea, although very precise.

As with all "dance sport" there is absolutely no connexion between the music and the dance.
They could have played anything at all in the background, and it would have made no difference whatever.
If you played the video without sound, could you tell what rhythm it is?
Plus, I am an old prude. I don't want to see the lady's panties.
