The most 'anti-racist"? Really? Funny, on half my videos showing me wearing hijab there's some comment about hating certain people because of race/religion or there's some comment about why I'm not Arab.
@andipoetic unfortunately those who comment on your vids asking whyyour not arab, or giving hateful speaches to others are ignorant, and arrogant. =( if only people REALLY followed the religion the way it's supposed to be.
This video brought many memories back for me. No one thought that our marriage would last more than a year. It has lasted 26 years, as of January 1st, 2012. Customs and traditions seperate us, but Islam is the glue that keeps us together. I am a white american convert and he is a pakistani muslim. We live in Pakistan. .
Honestly I don't think this is an issue in most communities in as much it is touted and overanalyzed as one online. "Arabs this...desis that" are just comparisons in ignorance and vanity. I DO think sexism is an issue and oddly enough I think I read a lot of blogs saying "Muslim men are...." but the reality is I know few Muslim women who when looking for a Muslim spouse are actually looking for a "Muslim" spouse vs what their parents think is a great spouse (ARAB-Phalestini-from Zadd Garbiyeh)
If the girl in question was white, I wonder if they would have been more accepting. I heard white female converts are usually married off very quickly by arab and desi men and coveted for their light skin. I think even a white christian girl would have an easier time marrying an arab muslim guy than a black muslim girl. Mixed marriages are not worth the trouble that come with it.
I don't think there is anything wrong wth wanting someone from the same race as yourself if that's what your attracted to and feel more compatible with. It doesn't mean your racist. But if a family dislikes someone you want to marry simply out or colour that's something else
@Missrere1984 Apparently, they say muslim men are allowed to marry Christian and Jewish women, but I don't think it's a good idea for a muslim guy to marry a christian or jewish woman if he wants his children raised as muslims. Also, the quran says those "people of the book" meaning jews/christians that muslim men can marry should be chaste, and the vast majority of them today are not chaste if we are honest.
@Missrere1984 Do you think it is not wrong to reject a potential marriage part becase ot race considering they have good qualities and are also muslim? I think marrying from the same culture makes life easier and might be better, but I am open to a mixed marriage as well, with a muslim of course.
@TheRmxa whats not allowed is a physical relationship, so many parents assume that a physical relationship has been happening and is why lot of parent get upset. Also, the girls parents should be informed too! But you should use wisdom

am from romania and my husband from tunisia, he was bron muslim, i am a revert but we never ever had problems because of the race or of the religion, or because we spoke differents laguages...because there are things more importants then this And we knew how to pass them
But in real life most Muslim families decide on the wife/husband of there child and they're always the same race. Yeahh Islam is not a racist religion but isent not allowing your kids to marry people of other ethnicitys racist in itself. I know my friends older brother had to run away from home to marry the love of his life after his parents refused even though the girl was willing to convert.

And also in a hadith we see that Muhammad gave 2 black Muslim slaves to buy a non-black and non Muslim slave. However it is difficult to find now, because the academic site I was studying stopped the service sharing the hadith (all was translated to English) database.

Islam isn't racist, but the Quaran clearly tells Muslims not to even have friends who are not muslim. This alone makes Islam a backwards way of living your life. Just glad that many muslims don't follow the Quaran fully or else I would have a few less friends...

See Tabari II 11, Tabari II 21, Ishaq 450, Ishaq 374, Mishkat, v. iii, p. 117, Ibn Musa al-Yahsubi, Qadi ‘Iyad, p.375, Tabari II:21, Tabari II:11, Sahih Bukhari 9:87:161, Qur'an 39:60, Qur'an 3:106-107. Also many Islamic scholars are simply nasty to black people such as Ibn Khaldun, Adam Misbah aI-Haqq, Ibn Qutaybah, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi. Though many were horrible to blacks in those times. I am an asian, converted to islam, and I seriously don't feel the any differences between me and the brothers and sisters. Sure I am conscious that i'm not from the same ethnic background than most of them, but I seriously just feel as equal as them, something that I wouldn't feel so much outside of islam. :) It is true that Islam is the most anti-racist and anti-prejudicial way of life. Allah put diversity in this world so we may know each other and learn from each other :)

I know a woman who said the same thing, there is no rascism so I wnat to marry this guy. Parents didn't allow that, but she said Islam thsi and that! so okay.
After a few years her husband suggested a second wife, she thoughtt that he didn't had teh knowledge in Islam and that he didn't know that he couldn't do that without permission of her.
So she divorced him and knew how her parents felt.
@RyuHanamichi She was right in both circumstances. You cant marry without the permission of your first wife, and you need legitimate reasons to remarry, not because you want to experience more women. Islam is not perverted. Had god forbade men to marry more than 1, then when we have wars and famines and crisis, women would be left all alone with no one to take care of them. And if it wasn't a part of the marriage contract, he can't remarry, she has all rights to divorce.

Sadly, there is a lot of racism within Muslim communities. Islam is meant to bring humanity together and many Muslims separate themselves into sects, sub-sects and castes. Many still practice cousin marriages, even those living in USA or UK. Sad

I love this particular cartoon the most...my husband is palestinian and i am korean/german, and his family is very disappointed because they prefer him to marry a palestinian woman from their village. I am glad that there are others who choose to marry out of their race.

I know my friends older brother had to run away from home to marry the love of his life after his parents refused even though the girl was willing to convert.

There were black people and Persians among the first Muslims and I don't recall any hadith saying that they are inferior to Arabs. As for the Turks, they were not even known in the first century of Islamic history. I am not a Muslim and know well some disturbing aspects of Islam, but you are just making things up.

See Tabari II 11, Tabari II 21, Ishaq 450, Ishaq 374, Mishkat, v. iii, p. 117, Ibn Musa al-Yahsubi, Qadi ‘Iyad, p.375, Tabari II:21, Tabari II:11, Sahih Bukhari 9:87:161, Qur'an 39:60, Qur'an 3:106-107. Also many Islamic scholars are simply nasty to black people such as Ibn Khaldun, Adam Misbah aI-Haqq, Ibn Qutaybah, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi. Though many were horrible to blacks in those times. I am an asian, converted to islam, and I seriously don't feel the any differences between me and the brothers and sisters. Sure I am conscious that i'm not from the same ethnic background than most of them, but I seriously just feel as equal as them, something that I wouldn't feel so much outside of islam. :) It is true that Islam is the most anti-racist and anti-prejudicial way of life. Allah put diversity in this world so we may know each other and learn from each other :)

I know a woman who said the same thing, there is no rascism so I wnat to marry this guy. Parents didn't allow that, but she said Islam thsi and that! so okay.
After a few years her husband suggested a second wife, she thoughtt that he didn't had teh knowledge in Islam and that he didn't know that he couldn't do that without permission of her.
So she divorced him and knew how her parents felt.
Only using Islam in favor :(

@RyuHanamichi She was right in both circumstances. You cant marry without the permission of your first wife, and you need legitimate reasons to remarry, not because you want to experience more women. Islam is not perverted. Had god forbade men to marry more than 1, then when we have wars and famines and crisis, women would be left all alone with no one to take care of them. And if it wasn't a part of the marriage contract, he can't remarry, she has all rights to divorce.

It's called fidelity, so when you go out without your partner,each of you can rest assured that they will be truthful because you are held together by an idea, which you both hold sacred, that you fear God and the last day and that He knows what you do in secret and in open, unlike: no one will know so no one can be hurt, that's self deception in Islam. I love this particular cartoon the most...my husband is palestinian and i am korean/german, and his family is very disappointed because they prefer him to marry a palestinian woman from their village. I am glad that there are others who choose to marry out of their race.

I absolutly love you for making this videon MashAllah....it sucks that so many society's and CULTURES are muslim but don't follow the islamic way of life instead focus on there culture and base there lifestyle around that. Like i know my culture i have to marry in my race in my ethnicity in my province (?) same last name good occupation....like my god so many guidelines it is really quite sad. No one appreciates different people or change ! Makes me so mad.

@gbgyf: We don't hate white people, I know many White Muslims who are good friends of mine! You need to distinguish religion & race - they are two different things. And again, you think of religion & race as the same - "first who enslaved black ppl were the arabs" - yes, and they were PAGANS - not Muslims, it was the Muslim Arabs who embraced black people and honoured by allowing the first Black convert to be the first muadhin - he is renown in Islamic history (Bilal)

I know about Bilal, but i also know about the arab muslim population of North Africa, killing, mainly since the begining of 19th century till today, black people from Sudan, Somalia and countries in that area !
