the leads were pretty good, but i found the rest of the song to be painfully rudimentary. Youre not a bad player, but then again...this is your first original song..so keeping that in mind: great job!

the mixing could have been better as well, I'd suggest going to TGP/rigtalk/harmony central amp forums and posting it up there. A lot of douche bag kids on those boards, but some scattered pros who could really help you make this sound a lot better.

Its just different and original, not all melodeath has to be super-fast paced, there's a lot of melodeath bands that don't blast at 200+ BPM, I love melodic death, as well as a lot of other kinds of metal, but it doesn't bother me when its not fast, because it doesn't need to be at all.
