@JohnnyLadd Well spotted Johnny. I suppose the main reason for this was easier note bending. Although it really makes no difference to me what key the guitar's tuned to.

The trouble is that the Fleetwood Mac of today is not the same FM of the Albatross era and they played some cracking tracks, look up Peter Green and Danny Kirwan for more of this type and blues too

its funny that you should reply now cause Im at Albatross point on the south island in New Zealand on holiday. I came here to see an Albatross fly with grace. On a small boat looking out at the island wher they nest and fly over Im reminded of the tune and mentioned it to a kid in charge who had never heard of Albatross by FM. He was excited about it

and I was overjoyed at seeing the bird and the kids response. I wonder how they came about naming it Albatross.
