This great Peugeot Sport car stop in the end of 2010 this carreer in the "Le Mans Series world Champioship" :-(
After 3 years of more victories around the world whose the famous races "Le Mans" in France (the double in 2009) & "Sebring" in the USA (the double in 2010) & especially after a new title for Peugeot Sport of World Champion 2010 of "Le Mans Series" (after a new victory for the 1st time in the last race in... China ^^)
Sad fot us fans of great supersport cars protoptypes
@spartus09 i think all u old timers need to realise these cars r faster than group c sure group was louder and had better top speed but in this day and age braking and suspension and other components counters everything get with the time lmp faster by far than group c
went to watch the 908 at silverstone, sunday 15 th 6 hour race, free tickets from my work ;) it seemed the fastest car on the track, shame one crashed, and i think the other had a technical fault, but we came back in one car and we was killing everything on the track, im suprised how quiet the 908 and r10 actually were, untill a lambo or corvette passed that soon woke everyone up :)
A lmp1 can qualify around spa between two minutes and two minutes one second at best. A 2007 V8 f1 car can qualify in one minute forty five seconds. LMP cars are amazing but they are very compromised in ALL aspects compared to F1 cars. It doesn't matter what course you're at, the F1 car will accelerate quicker, brake harder, turn tighter, and reach a higher top speed than the LMP.
To put this into perspective, the ALMS pole at an ALMS/IRL joint event last year was quicker than the IRL pole, so it shows how much quicker F1 is than everything else, even big single seater series!
yes that too... statistically speaking the LMP1 cars are more aerodynamic particularly the closed cars... but the F1 car is faster due to its low weight
yeah i know that formula 1 cars have more horspower and rev much higher as well but i want to see how a prototype car would stand up to a fromula 1 car...i mean i know it would get beat but just for shits and giggles
actually the LMP1 car would actually keep up with the Ferrari... with the right tunings of course... but the F1 car would kick its ass in the corners... the LMP1 car is just too gawky around corners
What's the name of its successor gonna be? Le 917 HDi FAP? As Porsche wasn't allowed to have a road car named 901, Peugeot shouldn't be allowed to use 908 for a race car. The 908 was a legend this thing can't even dream to be.
A new announcement from Peugeot said they're interested in running ALMS when possible and would be willing to sell a chassis to a team for full time ALMS
wait so is it a possibility peugeot will do alms next year? I was quite dissapointed when i heard peugeot wasnt going to participate in alms this year.
There are some date clashes in LMS, so I'd expect the Peugeot factory team to do Sebring, Petit and Laguna Seca. Possibly Road America.
There are no indications of any interested teams, since LMP2 can compete for overall victories in ALMS, there probably won't be any new LMP1 teams for a while. Autocon is definitely staying with a Creation, so that rules them out. Maybe a Rolex team could get a 908...
What we have to hope about this peugeot? second place, but since 1994 peugeot have not contact with le mans, jaja more than bentley and the others, the french power is growing up(again!)
I beleive Audi will win the 24hrs of le mans due to reliability, but it will be an intense fight to the end. Who knows, they could win in their very first year.
This is amazing, I really hope they make the 908RC to go with this, that would just be like the icing on the cake. Hell, I'd even save the money to get one imported from France!
these things are so freakin fast through the corners and stuff.. really wonder what it feels like to drive such a thing

@Spartus09 - The reason why the LMP diesels don't billow smoke is because they fit them with very, very efficient exhaust filters.
Long live the diesel race engine - the greatest racing advancement since the longtail!

How do they stop them pumping out smoke like ma mommas diseasal ?

wow, it actually makes noise unlike the more reliable Audi R10!
DannyBoySmith1993 3 years ago 4
@DannyBoySmith1993
Somewhat more reliable, anyway. The 980 HDI hasn't had any major reliability problems. Nowadays, reliability isn't a big problem like in the 80s.

@DannyBoySmith1993 Either that or the cameramen are being real quite lol.

I heard that the Peugeot's are faster than the Audi's, it's just the Peugeot's have some reliability issues they need to sort out.

@Jon250F Actually, He heard right. The Peugeot 908 is faster than the Audi R10/R15/R15+. Unfortunately, our reliability sucked at Le Mans.

LMP1 cars are less compromised than an F1 car, pretty much free engine dessnge for example, and more scope in thea aero department.
The difference is LMP1 cars are 900kg, F1 cars around 550kg.Downforce, acording to a recent tech magazine, is pretty much the same.
Last year LMP1 pole at SPA was 2m, but this year that should dorp to 1.57/1.58.
