Lots of people say the ARWEN scene was rushed, but have they taken a look at the second episode of the new series by STARZ called CAMELOT where Arthur and Guinevere head straight to third base on the eve of her wedding day to Leontes (also known as Lancelot). Is Bradley James a racist? Would he complain about the romance rush if the Guinevere actresses were switched (CAMELOT has a blonde hair/brown eyes beauty in the role)?
I remember when we first met Arthur he was arrogant and cocky but to see him expressing his love and concern for Gwen to Merlin shows a real change in him. He has made a complete change in season 3. When Gwen was going to die in season 3 I could feel the pain and desperateness in his voice and him being so young it shows that love is a timeless and unquestionable thing. So dont question your heart's desires but appreciate that you have something to show you love when you are to blind to see.
I love how Merlin is there like, "ooou shit, this is no good." when Gwen and Lancelot took each other hands. And poor Arthur. His just so in love, its killing him. <3

The scene where Lance leaves is hearbreaking. Gwen is attracted to Lancelot because he is a servant, like her. No one would stop them from being together, and then he tells her (well...Merlin tells her for him) that it cannot be! Gwen thinks that she will always be attracted to men who are out of her reach. Except! Arthur (gotta love Arthur) is willing to break boundaries for her. :)

hmmm. gwen and arthur are obviously true love but this was a time when gwen and arthur saw no hope for their relationship because of their social rank, gwen and arthur both knew this. now as time goes on, they've become more assured of their relationship as they've grown more deeply in love.

It has been nearly three years so I find it hard to think it was rushed personally. Out of interest did ppl make a fuss when Merlin fell in love with Freya and wanted to leave his destiny behind and run off with her after 1 or 2 days? Not critising, just wondering really. Agree that back then after a few weeks ppl knew if they wanted to marry (love) or married for convenience only.

that being said, i think that arthur NEEDS gwen and gwen NEEDS arthur and therein is the key to their love in my opinion and why i would rather her be with arthur. gwen becomes this strong, fearless woman around arthur and arthur gets the correction and humility he strongly needs through gwen reprimanding him. they change one another for the better :)

Cross our fingers that they don't have Gwen cheating on Arthur with Lancelot. Besides, we keep hearing about Lancelot and Gwen love affair that it's becoming too overdone. Finally, we have a love story of Arthur and Guinevere and I hope the writers keep it that way. Personally I never liked Lancelot as I saw him as the third party who destroyed their marriage in the legends without worrying about the fatal consequences that it brought ... fall of Camelot.
How could anyone hate Lancelot? He's chivalrous and noble, plus he saw Gwen first... all the way back in season 1 when Arthur barely knew she existed.

Arthur made me nearly cry when he just stared at Gwen when she was being hugged by Morgana. I could feel his heartache. At the time I felt Gwen was cold toward him but then remembered that Arthur more or less made it clear that they couldn't be in a relationship together. Brilliant acting by all!!
Didn't someone imply in the behind-the-scenes show that the only reason Gwen decided to give in to her affections for Lancelot was because she thought she could never have Arthur? ;-)
I seriously think TPTB should introduce Elaine (aka the "Lady of Shalott") to the series so then Lancelot will have his own love interest and stop interrupting Arthur and Gwen's obvious love affair. :p
@9tailfox2headdragon That's the great thing about remakes. They don't have to let lancelot get in the way of Gwen and Arthur's relationship in the future. I don't mind the jealousy because it forces them to reveal their feelings. But that's it.
Let's just hope Gwen and Arthur are allowed to be happy without lancelot getting in the way. :)
i remeber seeing this for the first time and thinking what a cow gwen is! how could she hold lancelot's hand in front of arthur...my heart just went to arthur...
I really like the contrast with how Gwen acts with Lancelot and Arthur. With Lancelot, she's like a damsel in distress, helpless and weak. But with Arthur she's much stronger, like a queen, as we've seen her speak up and encourage him. I think the dynamics between their relationship and what each have to offer for the other makes it stronger and more worthwhile.

I also love the romance between Arthur and Guinevere. I feel so bad for Arthur. That last scene was heartbreaking.
I always thought Arthur and Guinevere were right for eachother. I hated that the old stories had Lancelot get in the way. I like that this version of Lancelot doesn't want to get in the way and he leaves.
This is just heartbreaking. Colin and Bradley are so cute together, pouring out their hearts to each other (or, in this case, rather just Bradley!) Loving the change of buddy-movie-type banter and these long mourning looks!

"oops too busy (eyesexing) umm staring at Gwen forgot everybody else was there" earth to arthur, focus man, especially the (eyesex) umm stare I'll give her when she turns around to look at me, make sure my lips are pouting, that will give her something to think about, and 0:39 mental note 'breathe man breathe'.

There's a big difference between love and infatuation. Love takes times and experience and choice. infatuation could possibly turn to love if given time to build an actual foundation on things besides passion because passion comes and goes as our happiness and anger with a person fluctuations on circumstance. For something to last there needs to be a choice and an effort. Could Lancelot and Gwen be happy together? Sure. But Gwen and Arthur have a better chance ... and chemistry. :)

I don't understand why people feel the Arthur/Gwen story was rushed. If you watch these Arthur/Gwen scenes (thanks kheldara!) the development of their relationship is really clear. What I don't get is Lancelot and Gwen. I mean one minute he is just a guy she sewed some clothes for and the next she is declaring her undying love for him. I really like Gwen but she is so fickle. First Merlin then Lance then Arthur then Lance and then Arthur again! the woman needs to make up her frickin mind!
I get what you mean about Gwen. But don't forget Gwen was just swept up by the romance of Lancelot being her "knight in shining armour". A/g are just love. they way the balance and complete each other *sighs*. the reason why i also don't like L/G is because Gwen hardly develops. We may see the sweet, shy serving girl. but behind her shell there is a WHOLE other person. And with Lancelot i don't see that coming forward. but with Arthur. *sighs*.
so my point is. Lancelot holds her basically back. Gwen is bloody fucking awesome, but i don't see the girl i love in the show when she is with Lancelot. and besides Lancelot isn't worthy of Gwen's love. He hurt her in the end of the episode. SCREW HIM. I am hoping for series 3 that when he returns that Gwen gives him her piece of her mind (like the ones she gives Arthur) Lancelot sees the IDEAL Arthur the WOMAN> basically Arthur's feelings for Gwen go WAY deeper then of Lancelot's feelings.

the episode started with an Arthur/Gwen looker and it ENDED with a arthur/gwen looker. The episode may be called Lancelot and GUinevere, but there is soooo much strong a/g then l/g. and that just proves that Arthur and Gwen are the ones who are in love.
I don't think in the end they can change that Guinevere will marry Arthur and have an affair with Launcelot. That is the whole basis of all that is to come. It leads to the break in friendship between the two men and the deaths in the battle against Modred. But the characters in this are very young (by our times standards) so they have lots of time to stretch out the love triangle.
I SO agree with TheAngelgirl1992 I'm such an Arthur/Guinevere fan and I really hope that Lancelot stays out of the picture. They hardly know eachother compared to A/G. How many moments and conversations have A/G had compared to G/L? Its obvious who should end up together. Go Arwen!

In the legend Guinevere and Arthur marry, but she betrays him with Launcelot who she loves. She admires and cares for Arthur, but Lancelot is her true love. That is what brings about all the tragedy. It destroys them all and brings down Camelot. Personally, I'd take Arthur despite his arrogance. Yum. :) Of course this rendering is changing so much - Morgana. who Mordred is, Merlin's age, Guinevere as a servant. So who knows what they will do with the story next.

Ahh, I can't wait until they finally really get to be together!. And I hope the writer's of the show never have Gwen cheating on Arthur with Lancelot when they do get together. That would really spoil this great thing the show has going. They should just bring in a new character for Lancelot. And Merlin needs a love interest soon, he's too sweet to be alone.

hmmm. gwen and arthur are obviously true love but this was a time when gwen and arthur saw no hope for their relationship because of their social rank, gwen and arthur both knew this. now as time goes on, they've become more assured of their relationship as they've grown more deeply in love.

i understand ppl saying how both lancelot and arthur's love for gwen seemed forced and really fast but the thing to remember is that that was how things were back in the day. it was basically u saw someone, u loved them within a few days, and u marry them and u r set for life. it's not like today where u take years to fall for someone and get married. affection was strong and fast in arthur's time

It has been nearly three years so I find it hard to think it was rushed personally. Out of interest did ppl make a fuss when Merlin fell in love with Freya and wanted to leave his destiny behind and run off with her after 1 or 2 days? Not critising, just wondering really. Agree that back then after a few weeks ppl knew if they wanted to marry (love) or married for convenience only.

that being said, i think that arthur NEEDS gwen and gwen NEEDS arthur and therein is the key to their love in my opinion and why i would rather her be with arthur. gwen becomes this strong, fearless woman around arthur and arthur gets the correction and humility he strongly needs through gwen reprimanding him. they change one another for the better :)

Cross our fingers that they don't have Gwen cheating on Arthur with Lancelot. Besides, we keep hearing about Lancelot and Gwen love affair that it's becoming too overdone. Finally, we have a love story of Arthur and Guinevere and I hope the writers keep it that way. Personally I never liked Lancelot as I saw him as the third party who destroyed their marriage in the legends without worrying about the fatal consequences that it brought ... fall of Camelot.

Arthur made me nearly cry when he just stared at Gwen when she was being hugged by Morgana. I could feel his heartache. At the time I felt Gwen was cold toward him but then remembered that Arthur more or less made it clear that they couldn't be in a relationship together. Brilliant acting by all!!

@9tailfox2headdragon That's the great thing about remakes. They don't have to let lancelot get in the way of Gwen and Arthur's relationship in the future. I don't mind the jealousy because it forces them to reveal their feelings. But that's it.
Let's just hope Gwen and Arthur are allowed to be happy without lancelot getting in the way. :)

I really like the contrast with how Gwen acts with Lancelot and Arthur. With Lancelot, she's like a damsel in distress, helpless and weak. But with Arthur she's much stronger, like a queen, as we've seen her speak up and encourage him. I think the dynamics between their relationship and what each have to offer for the other makes it stronger and more worthwhile.

I always thought Arthur and Guinevere were right for eachother. I hated that the old stories had Lancelot get in the way. I like that this version of Lancelot doesn't want to get in the way and he leaves.

There's a big difference between love and infatuation. Love takes times and experience and choice. infatuation could possibly turn to love if given time to build an actual foundation on things besides passion because passion comes and goes as our happiness and anger with a person fluctuations on circumstance. For something to last there needs to be a choice and an effort. Could Lancelot and Gwen be happy together? Sure. But Gwen and Arthur have a better chance ... and chemistry. :)

I don't understand why people feel the Arthur/Gwen story was rushed. If you watch these Arthur/Gwen scenes (thanks kheldara!) the development of their relationship is really clear. What I don't get is Lancelot and Gwen. I mean one minute he is just a guy she sewed some clothes for and the next she is declaring her undying love for him. I really like Gwen but she is so fickle. First Merlin then Lance then Arthur then Lance and then Arthur again! the woman needs to make up her frickin mind!

I get what you mean about Gwen. But don't forget Gwen was just swept up by the romance of Lancelot being her "knight in shining armour". The whole dying thing made her do rash things (being death treat makes you do STRANGE things. I seriously didn't like how Gwen was going in this episode. Even though Lancelot is my least favourite character he deserves someone who would love him for who he is and ONLY him, and frankly gwen isn't in love with him, he is second choice rebounds guy for Gwen. the writers openly admit it so...... and the writers said they want to end the love triangle before Arthur and Gwen marry

I don't think in the end they can change that Guinevere will marry Arthur and have an affair with Launcelot. That is the whole basis of all that is to come. It leads to the break in friendship between the two men and the deaths in the battle against Modred. But the characters in this are very young (by our times standards) so they have lots of time to stretch out the love triangle.

In the legend Guinevere and Arthur marry, but she betrays him with Launcelot who she loves. She admires and cares for Arthur, but Lancelot is her true love. That is what brings about all the tragedy. It destroys them all and brings down Camelot. Personally, I'd take Arthur despite his arrogance. Yum. :) Of course this rendering is changing so much - Morgana. who Mordred is, Merlin's age, Guinevere as a servant. So who knows what they will do with the story next.

@kaleyna yeah arthur maybe arrogant, but his feelings for gwen runs deeper then lancelots feelinsg. Arthur sees the woman and lancelot the IDEAL of beeing with her. and he left her so he isn´t worthy of her love. simply as that
