  • I await an Android TV Blur Ray player. In fact Google TV is already integrated in few Blu Ray players particularly this Sony Blu Ray player I was checkin out the other day.

If Android TV could be integrated (properly) into a Blu Ray player then this would be really fantastic for me. I could use Android to run all my cd/dvd/blu ray burned data files including photo's and HD video from my discs...

Oh technology how I love so :)

  • this is like that everywhere in china when you go shopping and the people at the store know very little english. they just will say Yes , Yes Yes to everything you say when they dont understand.

  • WHY IS THIS GUY ALWAYS ON HERE? HE KNOWS NOTHING!

  • @ 01:37, iPazzPort?

  • Unless this is like really really cheap, why would you get this over a Google TV?

  • @zsmorr92 It's really really cheap, it could be sold at $99 if mass produced, and it can do most of the same as a Google TV except HDMI throughput and IR blaster.

  • @Charbax Or spend that $99 for Apple TV.

  • @TalesOfWar Apple TV is closed and extremely boring.

  • @Charbax How is it "closed"? And what's wrong with "closed"? The Apple TV lets you watch your stuff and gets out of the way. This is just another computer connected to your TV like Google TV. For geeks it may be great to browse the net from your TV, but for most people it's rather pointless. You watch TV for a social experience with other people in the room. How social is that when you're checking your Facebook or Twitter half way through a movie? That's what you have phones/tablets/laptops.

  • @TalesOfWar Apple TV does NOT let you watch any video codec such as downloaded movies and tv shows from BitTorrents, Apple TV does NOT support full access to all video podcasts, all video streaming from the whole web, not just limited to partner source that Apple decides to give you access to. Apple TV does NOT allow you to get social features around video, such as chatting, video conferencing, does NOT allow you to pause video, search for something, tweet something, do an imdb search, etc.

  • @Charbax Why would you want to do half that stuff? If you want to chat while watching a TV show or movie, use your laptop, or phone, or tablet, or netbook or one of the many other net connected devices. Regarding Torrented films? DUH, no shit! If you want to play your MKV files, convert them. GTV doesn't play everything either, nothing does. If you want to play more or less everything in existence, connect a PC/Mac to your TV. You can pause video. What makes you think you can't?

  • @TalesOfWar You people amaze me. Why would anyone want a piece of hardware to do less than it is technically able to do? How can you apple fanboys be satisfied with Apple TV having features BLOCKED by software design when there is NO reason hardware not do much more than it is sold as doing? Can't you see this whole thing is a scheme from Apple to sell you more devices? Why doesn't ipad/iphone/ipod have HDMI output? Because Apple wants you to buy a separed Macbook and Apple TV. Makes you happy?

  • @Charbax The iDevices don't play flash because Adobe never came back to Apple with a Flash player that met their standards. Flash is a massive resource hog and rinses your battery like there's no tomorrow. I can use Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, iTunes and a bunch of other stuff on my Mac fine for hours, soon as I start playing Flash content the battery drains like mad. It's up to Adobe to make a better player, when they do, Apple will think about adding it. It hasn't happened yet though.

  • @TalesOfWar Flash does NOT use one % more resources than any other video playback or interactive animation functionality when implemented like it is on Android devices. The recouse hog argument is just a lame excuse. Apple is afraid to loose its monopoly on apps in App Store, they are afraid app developers use Adobe tools to make cross platform apps, and they are afraid consumers use more and more apps on Flash which they would not be able to control as it would be delivered through the browser.

  • @Charbax I don't think Apple care about Flash one bit. They've never said they hated it or made a fuss about it, that was Adobe who cried when the iPad was announced with no Flash support. The iPhone had no Flash support from day one because Adobe didn't create a good enough player, it was heavily CPU based rather than GPU based which is why it uses so much battery. It IS a resource hog, I don't care what you think, or think you think.

  • @TalesOfWar Complete bollocks dude. Flash uses 100% hardware acceleration, no CPU is needed. Flash video in the web browser is just a container, and not supporting Flash video is nothing else than pure evil. Apple wants to remove your choice to stream whichever format, whichever bitrate, whichever resolution of web videos, instead they force you to a crappy low quality 240p HTML5 locked version of everything and telling you they know better what you need to have. Stop defending their actions.

  • @Charbax Flash is of course 100% hardware accelerated, mostly on the CPU. Only 10.1 has added GPU acceleration and it's still not much better. It also took them 4 years to get to that stage despite Apple telling them that's the way to go during the development of the original iPhone. Adobe have nobody to blame but themselves. You have the freedom NOT to buy an Apple device if you're so against how they do things. Most people DON'T CARE though. Most Flash video uses H.264 just like HTML5.

  • @Charbax The Android version of Flash is still a piece of shit, the only reason it works is not because the software is any better, but because the hardware just makes up for the lack of optimised code. Also I find it MASSIVELY ironic how before you were going on about how Apple stuff is "closed" and then champion Flash, which is about as closed as it can get. Adobe and Adobe alone control it. If they don't or can't improve it, nobody can. Since buying Macromedia Flash has become terrible.

  • @TalesOfWar Flash may not be an open standard, but it controls 99% of web video streaming and a large part of web monetization through ads and other features. Not supporting it is nothing else than pure evil on all counts. A company should not be allowed to remove features from a device that consumers pay for. And no consumers in their right mind find it a good thing when a company removes features from the devices they pay big money for.

  • @Charbax Thanks to people like you, most people know it lacks these things, yet they still buy it anyway because it's a good product. It's only on iOS devices that Flash isn't available, even Microsoft and RIM don't offer Flash support on their mobile platforms (granted RIM is on the playbook which uses a different OS), for the very same reasons Apple don't. It's a poor experience and the plugin is poorly made. Flash had its place, when standards weren't widespread over browsers, now it's dying.

  • @TalesOfWar People are not buying Apple products anymore. Android dominates smart phone sales. In less than a year since Nexus One, Android now dominates all smart phone sales worldwide and iPhone/iPod touch share is rapidly shrinking. You are supporting a sinking ship. You just keep on feeling satisfied by apple telling you what you may and may not do with your hardware. You just continue supporting their closing down on your devices abilities and features, you love apple, gove them more money.

You just continue supporting their closing down on your devices abilities and features, you love apple, give them more money

  • @Charbax Yes Apple is a "sinking ship". They're the 2nd most valuable company ON THE PLANET, their shares have only been going up over the last 5 years. Android devices are outselling iOS? I SHOULD FUCKING HOPE SO. iOS is on 3 (4 with ATV, not quite the same) current general products being sold, THREE. Android is on literally HUNDREDS of devices being sold by dozens of companies from prices ranges of fuck all to more than iPhone, so I should hope they're selling more. Something is wrong if now.

  • @Charbax iPods/Pads/Phones don't have an HDMI connection because they don't have the room for one, and what's the point? It's a PERSONAL media player. If you want to play stuff to your TV, get an Apple TV or use the cables you can get to plug it in. Not just Apple sell them, there's plenty of 3rd party makers of these cables that connect your iDevice to a TV is that's what you really want, but most don't, so they don't bother. If you don't like Apple, don't buy it, don't preach to others not to.

  • @TalesOfWar Every other manufacturer in the world now includes HDMI outputs on ALL devices, including phones, tablets, everything. Saying there is no space for HDMI (micro, mini or normal) on ipad, iphone, ipod touch, is complete bollocks. Saying there is no space for a standard USB host port is also bollocks. Seriously dude, how can you seriously believe what you write and say it's a good thing Apple removes features from the products you buy from them for thousands of dollars?

  • @Charbax HDMI has a royalty associated with it. Also, why the hell would Apple choose to use someone else's connection when there's literally thousands if not millions (models) of devices out there that use the Apple dock connector to offer this very functionality you claim their products lack? There's no logical reason you'd want or need a USB port on an iOS device, it's library based, you don't access the file system directly and it's NOT a generic computer. USB would make folk think it is.

  • @TalesOfWar Oh wow, you love iTunes it looks like. The worst piece of proprietary closed media system in the history of consumer electronics. HDMI is the friggen standard. USB is the friggen standard. Apple charges you about 300% profit margins on the products they make, especially iphone. The $0.0002 eventual royalty on HDCP for HDMI is a totally bollocks excuse for not including it. Fact is devices like Motorola Atrix 4G will combine everything into one, and Apple will continue with closed.

  • @Charbax It costs around $400 to make an iPhone apparently. So, add to that the cost of distributing them all over the world, the packaging, the insurance, the overhead of potentially defective units or ones damaged in transit, localisation costs, currency conversions, local taxes around the world, licensing different parts that may have different charges and agreements in different countries. You get the idea. They make a lot on them but nowhere near what you think.

  • @TalesOfWar Please stop now. The bill of material of an iphone is below $150. They sell them for about $600 through carriers. They make about $450 profit per iphone. Stop supporting such business model. And you know, it will not last. Thanks to competition from the Android market, Apple will quickly loose their profit margins and their company valuation will collapse very quickly as iphone is Apple's main source of revenues and profits.

  • @Charbax And as they've shown time and time again, they'll come up with something else to bring in the money. People said exactly the same about Macs, yet they still sell millions and make a big chunk from them despite their being much cheaper alternatives out there. Same with iPods, now phones and tablets. Apple don't follow the industry, they lead it, then others follow them. How many touch screen phones with a user friendly OS and no carrier crapware existed before the iPhone?

  • @TalesOfWar Apple will never find another cash cow like the iphone, never. Impossible. They made unhealthy sums of cash on iphone, much much more than they do on any other product category. Macbook Air may be unhealthilly over-priced, yet a tiny tiny minority of rich PC users buy into that, and that number is lowering, and $199 Chrome OS notebooks will completely kill that. In any ways, Apple's iphone business is over 65% of their revenues and profits which cannot maintain $300+ Billion company

  • @Charbax Ah! So you seem to have the foresight professional analysts of the industry and market traders and so on seem to lack? You're also Steve Jobs from the sounds of things if you're so certain they'll never have anything as successful as the iPhone again. I remember people saying that about the iPod, and how that brought in most of the money they made, then market saturation set in and sales dropped and the iPhone showed up and started it over, then the iPad. I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

  • @TalesOfWar ipad is making a tiny part of profit and revenue, still today iphone is Apple's main source of profit and revenues. If you want to bet a $300+ Billion company on ONES SINGLE product like iPhone, knowing that TONS better, cheaper Android phones are arriving at full speed to the market this past year and are coming even faster and stronger for every week that passes. hey, you are welcome to loose all your money on apple stock if you want. Other smarter people sell when on top.

  • @Charbax It's taken Android this long to catch up to what Apple had a year ago. Phones better than iPhone 4 are just coming to market now, by the time iPhone 5 is here with iOS 5 it'll be another case of playing catch up for Android and the other players in the market. iPad is in it's 1st generation, soon 2nd. It'll start to bring in ever greater profits as time goes by and the platform matures. By the time things slow down, they'll have something else to replace it and make billions with.

  • @TalesOfWar Android taking long to take over? Are you kidding me? It took Android less than 1 year to DOMINATE EVERYTHING. Nexus One was better than iPhone4 already. Since Nexus One showed the way, Android has completely destroyed the iphone in every single worldwide market those new Android super phones have been introduced. Now Android is going the Atrix 4G way, combining all features for the ultimate mobile computing experience all into one $150 device. iPhone is dead.

  • @Charbax Android as a PLATFORM is still playing catch up. Not market share wise. Like I said before, I'd be pretty shocked if Android based devices WEREN'T ahead of iOS considering the sheer number of devices running it. Apple makes iOS devices, nobody else, they have a very small number of devices on the market running it, yet they're still pretty damn close to hundreds of others made by dozens of other companies.

  • @TalesOfWar You apple fanboys need to stop making up excuses for why the iphone quickly loosing market share. It doesn't matter if 1000 manufacturers make Android against iphone. Every potential iphone sale is now replaced by Android sales. That is the reality. And your favorite second largest in the world $300+ Billion company is in very serious trouble defending their unhealthy over-sized market valuation when their absolute MAIN source of revenues and profits is under such big Android threat.

  • @Charbax We'll see. People have been writing Apple off for decades, and look where they are today. Without iOS Android wouldn't exist in the way it does now, it'd be far more like the Blackberry OS like we saw on the original prototypes Google made. Even the phone itself looked like a Blackberry clone. The iPhone is their CURRENT main source of revenue, but that won't always be the case. They'll make something else that will take over, like the iPad. Hate all you will, THAT is the reality.

  • @TalesOfWar Apple never invented anything. They only steal from others and appropriate it as their invention which is nothing else than pure lies. Apple consumers are always cheated. Apple invents nothing. I've had Motorola A920 since 2002, same thing as iPhone, ran symbian back then, but had video conferencing on 3G, 3.5"touch screen, UMTS, app stores, all the features Apple basically copied and repackaged for sales and marketing.

  • @Charbax Apple don't claim to invent anything, they're just the masters of implementation. I bet you the experience sucked compared to the way Apple do it as is often the case with competing products. Even now most competitors don't seem to "get it" and just go for features rather than good implementation. iPhone's didn't have video conferencing because carriers didn't want it. We've had it for years in Europe, nobody ever used it.

  • @TalesOfWar Apple doesn't master implementation at all. They master screwing the customer out of thousands of dollars, that's all they master. Apple is a money machine, nothing else. They make consumers believe that they invent stuff when they in fact don't. Apple is a marketing tool. They make people believe there is no competition. They even try to make actual supposed IT experts like you believe that there was nothing before Apple. What a load of bollocks. Apple is just hot marketing air.

  • @Charbax If a podcast is listed on iTunes, it'll work in AppleTV because it's obviously already in the correct format to be played. Unless you haven't noticed. H.264 is the defacto industry standard format for digital video and audio right now. I don't know anybody who has things in these less common wrappers like MKV unless they've downloaded them illegally. You can also acquire the original 264 encoded file too if you look hard enough and converting them isn't too hard (can take a while mind).

  • @TalesOfWar 99% of pirated movies such as DivX/mp3/ac3/mkv do NOT play on any Apple hardware. Reason? Apple BLOCKS it. Hardware wise, there is no reason those formats don't work. 99% of web video streaming is NOT in iTunes, it's in the UNSUPPORTED Flash video format on the web, which Apple has somehow decided to BLOCK from their devices. There is no technical reason Apple devices couldn't play Flash contents, it's only a software question. How can you think it is good to BLOCK features?

  • @Charbax HAHAHA MP3? Are you kidding me? I have THOUSANDS of MP3's on my Apple devices, they all play perfectly well. AC3 is a form of Dolby encoding for surround sound and is actually used in a lot of movies sold on iTunes. DivX is a competing codec, it's down to DivX to allow Apple to use it. MKV isn't an industry standard, content providers don't want to use it because it means more encoding and doesn't offer DRM (like it or not, it's there). Most web video is H.264 in a Flash wrapper.

  • @TalesOfWar bollocks. DivX/SviD avi files don't play because Apple does not want people to use BitTorrent. MKV is the defacto standard for 720p and 1080p movies on the web. Go to any BitTorrent website and you will find out 99% of HD movies and tv shows are in MKV format. Not supporting it is simply pure evil. How can you find it to be a feature that Apple does not support every feature the hardware is supposed to support? How can you like a company that purposefully removes features?

  • my ps3 is better

  • Looks a little crappy but nice concept

  • Looked brilliant for playing that game?

  • @akashnu We foreigners enjoy speaking English, thank you. You try speak Danish, French, or German for a few minutes and send me the video link.
