I'm not aware of any scientific studies on the subject, but in my personal experience, the few Scientologists I've known weren't noticably less well adjusted than were, say, the Catholics I've known.
I lived in halifax, Nova Scotia for about 10 months, right across the street from the North Street Scientology centre. Never met a single well-adjusted person working their corner or side of the street, despite the many times I chatted with them. Whenever asking very basic questions regarding their "system", the talk always (yes, always) evolved into a money matter.
Here's the thing, Scientology swallows-up much more than simple-minded folks (or morons as you say). My nearly year-long exposure to their public activities demonstrated their ability to attract folks of all sorts.

I was in one of their little outreach programs for 10 years. I can tell you things about that place that would curl your toenails. Things have tamed down a bit (I hope) since the selling at gunpoint, assault and kidnapping days, but we are still a jolly bunch of pirates! Yes, I am using inclusive language. the only difference that truthfully sets them apart is the nazi's are a political party and not a "religion" the Schutzstaffel was hitlers personal guards and defenders of the nazi party. Sea org are $cientology's loyalist of fallowers and enforcers, along with bodyguards to their leader. Also each dressed as their own military force without having any real power outside their respective orginizations. At leased it was with the SS till the nazi's came to power.

Sea Org is a such nice facade to some scientologists. But once you're inside you begin see the ugly trap from within. Anyway, one has to be on a some "spiritual dope" to accept a billion years contract! It's appalling these cult activities can go on and on and on. And they will, until they are banned from all countries of the world. Naive scientologists idolize Hubbard's ideology and they're happy as long as they don't see what's sick. I can't imagine Scn will ever reform.

I wouldn't say 'morons' join Scientology; I joined and left. I was vulnerable and they played on my vulnerability. I grew and got out. Some don't. I actually think they should be pittied because alot of these people feel that they don't have the competencies to succeed in life without Scientology. It's essentially a lack of confidence for most and it's a shame for them that they are being exploited by this corporation.

I agree. There's a simple test here--if someone takes money out of Scientology, he's scum. If he puts money into Scientology, he's a moron.
The same applies to other religions though, they're all about cash.

Comparing scientology to other religions only helps scientologists justify themselves and gives them some credibility.
Scientology is a very unique and extremely dangerous cult. Most "religous" people can function openly and independently with people outside their religion. Scientology does not allow that to happen.

Why shouldn't they have just as much credibility as the other religions have? Scientology's beliefs aren't any less moronic than Christianities. One claims immortal souls live inside volcanoes, whereas the other claims that immortal souls are going to live inside a lake of fire.
Plus, I don't see a shred of difference between a Sea Org member and a Christian preacher. Both are all about collecting money. Both should be condemned as con men.

I'm not aware of any scientific studies on the subject, but in my personal experience, the few Scientologists I've known weren't noticably less well adjusted than were, say, the Catholics I've known.

I lived in halifax, Nova Scotia for about 10 months, right across the street from the North Street Scientology centre. Never met a single well-adjusted person working their corner or side of the street, despite the many times I chatted with them. Whenever asking very basic questions regarding their "system", the talk always (yes, always) evolved into a money matter.
