can someone pls translate it for me.... i loooooorrrrve this song, the cinematography and the love between parent and child... any of the versions with subs?
@ForeverInLoveXOXOXO WOW! TY so much for the translation!! They couldnt be more perfect! " You A flower given by God" *sigh* And this one is hilarious.." You are my wealth , you are my poverty" Ha Ha..I think every loving parent can relate. Thanks Again.
I watched this movie at theater in Zurich, Switzerland. Neither me nor the rest of the audience understand Tamil, but the whole audience including me wept in that scene when Amudha met her biological mother. This is the cinematic magic. The audience feel themselve like a part of the movie. Salute Mani Ratnam.
these dislikes are from some stupid racist. even though i don't understand a single word of this song but i am just amazed by its music. awesome work by A. R. Rahman
madhavan and simran did awesome job !!even d small kid acting was touching and i really felt it during the climax scene.cried so so much!ar rahman and mani ratnam ..this is a stellar perfomance!glad to hear this movie won so many respectable awards indeed they deserve it..Magnificent!Chinmayi's and jaya chandran's voice rocks!
Great Movie. Now I understand why there are so many Sri Lankan Tamil people in every foreign country where I go. The military war is over but i don`t think it`ll be better for Tamils in Sri Lanka. The Sinhalese have to give them equal rights and threat them like they would treat human beings!
This song has kind of an eerie vibe, and is depicted rather darkly, and yet it conveys a father's love for his daughter beautifully. That's the magic of Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman. I just wish Mr. Ratnam would go back to his older style. Raavan was okay, but he was obviously so caught up in creating something "epic" and visually stunning that he ignored all the aspects which create a truly touching and beautiful film like this one.
mmmmm I'm an American who has fallen head over heels for this song! A love song to a child? I wish to sing this to my babies..They also love the visual. Video so captivating, same goes for the moms version. A great family movie..I will recommend.
@thamil007 Who said it was a flop? It definitely wasn't a flop. As per wiki, the film went on to win six Filmfare Awards South, six National Film Awards, and Best Film awards at six international film festivals.
The Buddha statues were never worshiped. Buddha himself was never worshiped. His statues were an image for the disciples who never had the opportunity to be in his physical presence. Therefore putting up statues meant his omnipresence....omnipresence of the guru...
mathavan's acting in this movie was simply amazing. I wonder if he got any awards for this movie. Knowing our industry, they will b giving acting awards for movies like Thirupachi. Seriously.

(the chorus basically translates to : My heart feels happy when you kiss me on the cheek)
Oru Deivam Thantha Poove -- A flower given by god.
Kannil thedal enna thaaye -- Whats the look of search in your eyes oh mother? (calling your child mother is common in Tamil culture)
Vaalvu thodangum iddam nee thaney -- You are the starting point of my life
Vaanam mudiyum idam nee thaney -- You are the point where the sky ends
Kaatrai polla nee vanthai-ye -- You came like the wind
ForeverInLoveXOXOXO 6 months ago 4
(Cntu 1)
Swasamaga nee nindraiye -- You stayed/stood like oxygen (in my life)
Marbil odum uyire -- oh the life that runs in the heart/chest
Ennathu Selvam neeye -- You are my wealth
Ennathu Varumai neeye -- You are my poverty
Elaithai Kavithai nee -- (I am not exactly sure abt this one) You are the beautiful poetry
Eluthu Pillaiyum nee -- You are also the spelling mistakes
Iraval velitcham nee -- You are the loaned light
Iravill Kaneer nee -- You are the tear at night

Budha was against idolatry, one of the main reason he got disinterested in Hinduism then why are his statues are worshiped?
harphanmaula85 2 years ago
Buddha is not worshiped in the Judeo-Christian or Hindu (pujo) sense, but rather "venerated" as a sign of utmost respect.
