I think even the directors thought so, because they seemed to WANT you to fall for the phantom, with all of the scenes between him and Christine that showed how much he loved her, and her feelings for him as well. And Raoul gets this pitiful scene and then suddenly they're engaged. Like, what? PHANTOM BABY.<3
