Jackie is made for life, so fabulous. I did not think anyone especially as young as this could match my favourite Carmen Monarca in Tuscany. Where a man in the audience has tears rolling down his cheek. As translated it means, Oh My Beloved Father.
There are more seasoned mature singers that have better technical control and vocal nuances than Jackie does. But sophistication doesn't always capture your heart the way this little angel does with her pristinely beautiful voice. She can do without all that.
Pls name a seasoned mature singer that perform Operatic arias, pop, Musical theater, Classical Religious Hymns, and even country. Jackie can even perform in french, Latin, Italian and english languages. The only female soprano that can match Jackie repertoire is Rene Fleming (American Opera Star) who has crossover to jazz, rock and pop.
I beg to differ that Jackie has the better technical control to perform these diverse musical genres than any female soprano in the world.

There is great improvement in voice and technique over her performance of this song two years prior, when she was nine. However, her performance of this song at 9 years of age was full of tenderness;was less glitzy or dramatic, and was certainly more moving.

I'm not a big opera fan, and I even don't speak italian... but that doesn't relate to anything of what I just wrote; What I meant, it's just that I have the feeling that she doesn't know what she's singing about: I can't watch her, but I enjoy listenning to her: because of the voice. But an artist is everything. That's my opinion.

The fact that she hasn't experienced some aspects of adulthood is irrelevant.

Not been rejected? Do you remember elementary school? She has enough to at least imagine what she is singing about. There is no shortage of girls that start planning their weddings around her age with no clear idea whith whom, or ever having fallen in love in that way.
Kids love more purely and deeply than adults can remember, and they are familiar with the fear of losing that love.
The one she has absolutely no frame of reference for was Memory. She still sang it well though.

This song is about suicide, desperation, and mainly, a melancholic memory from the girl's father... Jackie doesn't express anything of what she's singing. I don't even know if she's aware of what she's singing about... The girl is astonishing, and her voice is flawless... but it's not only about the voice... songs are meant to be told (and even more in the case of opera and musical). It's not a natural song for her. Listen "Somewhere": Look at her and then, at Barbra, there's a HUGE difference.

Miss Evancho expresses how she feels about the song with her facial expressions and through how she modulates her voice and produces her overtones with pitch perfect execution. As David Foster said, "She becomes one with the music." She has a great delivery of her emotions, and an amazing connection with the audience. By the way, the biggest difference between her and Barbra is....age!
@holywells It's true. This is possibly one of the most touching music pieces ever written, and yes: eyes are the windows to the soul. But the only think I see in Evancho's eyes, it's the window's crystal, because there's nothing inside, (of what it takes to sing this song, I mean),. A song can be soulful, but if its singer isn't, the song just turn out to be musical notes. That's the greatness of performers. What they can tell. I think we should care mor about the lyrics. @iesviladeg Are you aware that this aria comes from a comic opera? While the young girl does say she will jump in the river neither she or the father really believe it. It's not a serious proposition... suicide is not in the wings... the girl is just unhappy about circustances. The hi jinx that follows is the father setting things right.

@cheng269 Try not to feel too bad about it because I think that most of the "dislikes" on Jackie's videos are done by mistake anyhow. It is hard to focus with tears in your eyes, plus there should be a wider space between the "like" and "dislike" buttons. If the pointer is on the THIN center line your choice can actually come out either way. Perhaps YouTube will discover that fact and install a wider space, sort of a "neutral zone," to keep the mistakes down to a minimum. We can hope anyhow!!

@tdeviller Have you noticed, when the audience starts clapping for her in some of her performances, she gets so excited she starts clapping with them. It's the little girl in her that she can't hold back. And yes, she's so cute and sweet, that you can't help but love her.
The two songs from that event with David Foster are my favorite videos on youTube. Unfortunatly the sound quality is not very good (distortions because of too high gain/volume).

However, Jackie has her own Great Performance Concert from PBS for her new CD Dream With Me that is currently available from any record store or amazon.com. Unlike the usual way with PBS, it is being sold at ordinary record stores.
With all the millions of people all over the world that comments on Jackie none can even come close to what we are hearing from a 10/11 year old girl. It is blowing our minds so much there is no words good enough for description. untill now there was no Jackie only what we thought was a Jackie.

Sorry, but the machine is killing this little girl's voice. Hope someone is taking care of that.
Her voice will change a lot until She turns 20 year old, guys takes even longer.
She must know how to breath, she should be aware that in the "bell canto" microphones are an eresy.
I really hope that some one is taking care of all those things in order not to spoill her talent.

This song is about suicide, desperation, and mainly, a melancholic memory from the girl's father... Jackie doesn't express anything of what she's singing. I don't even know if she's aware of what she's singing about... The girl is astonishing, and her voice is flawless... but it's not only about the voice... songs are meant to be told (and even more in the case of opera and musical). It's not a natural song for her. Listen "Somewhere": Look at her and then, at Barbra, there's a HUGE difference.

@iesviladeg It has been said that the eyes are the windows to the soul and that music is the voice of the soul. Miss Evancho expresses how she feels about the song with her facial expressions and through how she modulates her voice and produces her overtones with pitch perfect execution. As David Foster said, "She becomes one with the music." She has a great delivery of her emotions, and an amazing connection with the audience. By the way, the biggest difference between her and Barbra is....age!

@holywells It's true. This is possibly one of the most touching music pieces ever written, and yes: eyes are the windows to the soul. But the only think I see in Evancho's eyes, it's the window's crystal, because there's nothing inside, (of what it takes to sing this song, I mean),. A song can be soulful, but if its singer isn't, the song just turn out to be musical notes. That's the greatness of performers. What they can tell. I think we should care mor about the lyrics. I don't speak italian.

@iesviladeg Are you aware that this aria comes from a comic opera? While the young girl does say she will jump in the river neither she or the father really believe it. It's not a serious proposition... suicide is not in the wings... the girl is just unhappy about circustances. The hi jinx that follows is the father setting things right.
I think your real purpose here is to simply find fault with the singer and to posture yourself.

@iesviladeg Are you kidding? Jackie expresses more emotion than any singer in existence! This can DEFINITELY be seen in her eyes, and through her body expressions. You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about, and are most likely another "opera snob".

@iesviladeg I imagine that most people who don't speak Italian can't understand the words to this song. What they can understand though, is what they hear and see when Jackie performs. And what they hear is one of the most beautiful sounds on earth. So you see...it doesn't matter what the song is about, only the beauty of the sound.

@cheng269 Try not to feel too bad about it because I think that most of the "dislikes" on Jackie's videos are done by mistake anyhow. It is hard to focus with tears in your eyes, plus there should be a wider space between the "like" and "dislike" buttons. If the pointer is on the THIN center line your choice can actually come out either way. Perhaps YouTube will discover that fact and install a wider space, sort of a "neutral zone," to keep the mistakes down to a minimum. We can hope anyhow!!

The two songs from that event with David Foster are my favorite videos on youTube. Unfortunatly the sound quality is not very good (distortions because of too high gain/volume).
Does anybody have one of these two videos or at least one with good sound quality?
Is there a DVD/Blu-Ray available with these two songs?

@bb4aa This is on a Great Performances DVD from PBS and can be purchased from pbs.org. However, Jackie has her own Great Performance Concert from PBS for her new CD Dream With Me that is currently available from any record store or amazon.com. Unlike the usual way with PBS, it is being sold at ordinary record stores.
