  • Filmed with iPhone 4s

  • i got the razr and it AWESOME. the iphone4s had tooo many issues

  • Who cares about a locked bootloader? Why is everyone obsessed with that? I've never changed a phone from it's stock OS. Only nerds who like to modify their phone and screw it up would care about rooting or whatever.

  • You said its the bio repackaged. The bio is dual core 1.0 the razor is 1.2 the super am. screen has way better pic. quality I compared them both at Verizon today. I do beleive the razor is a nicer phone because of the screen but all else is.close to bio with storage and 8 meg cam and front cam.

  • 0:40 = My Ex Girlfriend's Vagina.

  • @SAVXD hahaha i lol'd :D

  • im stuck between this and the galaxy nexus.... im just gonna wait and see

  • That's one sleek phone. It'll also be easy to store, since it's not bulky like a lot of other smartphones on the market right now. The 8MP camera is really what sold me on this phone, though.

  • Android phones - Built to last, sexy as hell, does what they claim to do.

iPhones - Completely the opposite + drop it once and you'll be weeping for weeks over broken glass. Basically a very basic phone made to look like a king through excellent marketing.

That's another quick review for all the guys who aren't sure whether to go for the iPhone or an Android. Its not biased when its the truth :)

  • its the first phone that can stream hd from netflix through hdmi to your television it's the real shit

  • It is NOT a repackaged Bionic. It performs way better, and it's 8mp. camera outclasses the Bionic's a thousandfold. The camera's performance is in the same class as the iPhwned 4S's.

  • I have a question for all you in the know people.

I am really into this phone, but in addition to physical aesthetics I am also concerned about the OS aesthetics.

Will this run ICS in the future? If it does, will I be able to use the default theme of ICS that is seen on the Galaxy Nexus? I really don't like this Motorola interface and its kind of a deal breaker for me.

Also. It runs Gingerbread right now. Can I use the default Gingerbread theme?

  • @standardtristan Hi, I believe that Motorola said that the RZR will be upgraded to ICS but you bet they will implement BLUR onto ICS...most likely you will be stuck with BLUR. There is always rooting but I dont recommend it.

    Hope that was helpful.

P.S. I recommend you to look at Windows Phone :) The User Interface is beautiful.

  • @standardtristan This WILL run ICS in the future (as promised by Motorola) but it will most likely come with a new version of Motoblur UI. The Galaxy Nexus comes with stock android (the orginal UI made by Google) and is pretty rare to find in an android phone/tablet these days. However, rooting can give you the ability to give your phone the stock UI but i wouldn't try it unless you feel confident in using technology the backdoor way.

  • The shortest, yet most informative video on RAZR ever! Awesome work Nilay.

  • now all motorola gotta do is throw a charging solar panel directly into the phone and it will be even better :)

  • new motoblur is probably the best android skin. there i said it.

  • i used to own the original razr glad they brought it back in black

  • The best hands on video of the Razr thus far, kudos, will preorder.

  • Is the water resistant coating done by Liquipel technology?

  • Very attractive. And the specs are one of the best.

But feature-wise, Galaxy SII is still unbeatable.

Beautiful sAMOLED Plus (NO PenTile matrix), 2MP front cam, etc.

It's even better than Galaxy Nexus lol. And I'm 90% sure it will be getting ICS as well.

Though personally, I'd get the Galaxy Note.

IMHO, it's the best Android to own.

  • at first I was like, HAH droid razr, have fun dropping that. you'll never use it again. but then he showed that Kevlar material on the back. some dude gave a friend of mine a sample of that stuff when he was at a bar, it's so tough and sturdy. just a millimeter thick and you can barely bend it or pierce it with anything. not only does this phone have that, it has gorilla glass which is practically unbreakable

  • i will probably going with razr. After trying differnt models, motorola does a good job in my opinion. From pics and utube, nexus is a plain looking phone. Not to sharp in the looks department. If u have 2 phones with about the same stats, looks will win. Only advantage nexus has, it will be launching with ics. However, the razr will get this update early 2012. I am not saying nexus is bad. it just may not be calling me. That said, my final decision will be checking these phones out in store.

  • Great looking phone too bad it has moto blur to mess it up. I'm going to have to go with the Galaxy Nexus

  • haha remember when the original razr came out in 2006-07? good times

  • ewww...moto blur

  • Wish they made it 3,7 or 4.0 inch. Whyy do they have to make it bigger and bigger.

  • It can get wet because i heard Liquipel did a deal with Motorola. I think any one can have the splash proof coating.. Just have to send your phone to Liquipel.

  • Galaxy Nexus or Droid RAZR.

  • What if.... --Motorola Press Conference: "The Droid Razr also doubles as a razor for your face, using the slick thin sides its easy to get a nice clean shave, and thanks to the waterproof nano coating you'll never have to worry! Afterwards take a photo and upload it to facebook easily showing your nice clean face and your sexy new Razr. This is truly the ultimate device."-- Yeah wouldn't that be something.

  • wow motorola phones are realy realy great than other brands. nokia is sucks, moto made beautifull models like apple.

  • @victorinoxs true and agree

  • Comment removed

  • i like this tipe of video. sort & obbiective preview. cheers

  • Galaxy Nexus vs. Droid Razr:

    S-AMOLED HD vs. S-AMOLED qHD

    ICS vs. Gingerbread

    Pure Google vs. Motoblur crap

Official dev phone vs. locked bootloader

    Winner: Galaxy Nexus

  • @victorinoxs

Galaxy Nexus has a PenTile display < qHD

Droid is being updated to ICS

    Just root for pure google

    i'd prefer the RAZR

    but that's my opinion

  • @wizzardgamez Yes, Galaxy Nexus has a pentile display, SO DOES RAZR. Don't forget that GN has a 720p HD screen while Razr is only qHD.

Besides, if you live in the US, your Razr will come with a locked bootloader, which means no AOSP ROMs for you; you can forget about the pure Google experience. Rooting won't get you anywhere.

  • @victorinoxs Stop spewing this crap. it's you're OPINION! Don't act like you're god saying which phone is better.

  • I was so sure about me getting an arc s until this beautiful phone came out! not sure what im gonna be using 1 month from now...i love/hate situations like this

  • nice brief video which told me and showed me everything i needed to know in under 1.5 minutes. Cheers

  • I will sell my Atrix for that thin ass phone

  • People are worried about the Razr not having ICS...in my opinion, its better to release it without ICS at first. Let them figure out the bugs and then in early 2012, the Razr will get it as well. Plus there will be plenty of roms with ICS features for people who like to root and flash.

  • @TopShelfRippin

The problem is that it takes age for Motorola to release software upgrades (aka motofail). However this might change because google now owns it.

  • Motorola is getting alive again.

I haven't been interested in Motorola since the Startac.

  • I'm digging the Razr... Really cool look and it does have a very good chipset as well. Really good brief introduction to it by the way..

  • freaking LOVE gorrilla glass on my Atrix

  • Go to Russia!!! Pleas!!!!

  • @iicomet-.Its not that noticeable.

  • aha, first dislike just cause no one disliked the video! lol!

  • the hardware is f..kiNg awesome.

  • design is not that sexy as nokia n9

  • NO matter how thin it is, the little bump on the back of the phone spoils it

  • The galaxy nexus well have ics

  • Kill me......

  • I must get this rather iPhone 4s btw iPhone 4s looks like a compact camera size to me n still bulky n thick -_-"

  • You shold drink Diet coke instead of beer

  • why is it that only Apple and Nokia can make phones out of great materials.

  • SINCE WHEN DID SAMSUNG START SELLING THEIR SUPER AMOLED TECH? (AND IT'S "SUPER AMOLED qHD"?) really ???? :o

  • The Verge has the BEST video production, btw. keep it up dudes.

  • No ICS... No Thanks. Good looking phone though.

  • Looks pretty cool, they should have stuck ICS on it though. Hardware is super impressive.

  • I love the phone. I really want it but I'm not due for an upgrade anytime soon. At least I know there are great things to look forward to. Also, I personally like the hump. People are looking for any way to knock the phone. Typical...

  • thinness is measured by how thick the thickest part is. the thickest part of the RAZR is thicker than the thickest part of the iphone, making the iphone officially STILL the thinnest smartphone on the planet.

  • @AtactHD Don't think your dick is the biggest only because your the biggest asshole on Youtube... What a stupid comment...

  • @AtactHD - So how did apple measure it's thickness on the macbook air? :P

BTW: SGSII is thinner than the iphones.

  • @GrandDanois they measured just how you are supposed to: apple.com/macbookair/specs.html

by the way the thickest point of the SGSII is thicker than the thickest of the iphone STILL making the iphone 4/4s the worlds thinnest smartphone.

  • Is it shipping with Ice Cream Sandwich?

  • @tipoomaster

    Nope, Gingerbread.

  • that was the best review ever !!! quick on point, and covering all of the detail !!! does it have a front face camera? and also is it running ice cream sandwich on it? or not

  • @soroushmghazi gets ics update next year. but it definitely gets it, just gn getting it first

  • @soroushmghazi probaly but with a little motorola tweaks to it hopefully looks like a great phone if you can get it all set up with your computer and stuff what were you thinking about using it for???

  • I will neve understand the "thin phones" craze am I the only one who thinks a thin phone could just snap in half the best thing about this phone is the battery (that will hopefully be in the droid 4) ( droid 4 because I like qwerty keyboards

  • I really hate RAZR for making me feel so poor in high school... but this phone is hot. Why is it only for Verizon :(

  • Seeing it in person, it's striking how thin it is.

  • @TheVerge Seeing a few of your vids...... THATS IT I'M SUBSCRIBING :)

  • @TheVerge, would it have killed the guy in the video to comb his hair, shave, and dress professionally for the video? I feel like I'm watching a slovenly, fast-talking hobo with a head cold. It's disgusting and feels disrespectful to the audience. Anyway, what is the battery life on this phone? How does it compare to other phones? Can we install extended life batteries? Is the phone easy to keep in your pocket? It looks pretty big.

  • I'm not an iPhone fan by any means, but you can't say the Motorola is thinner if it has a thicker hump. That's a horrible design element that Motorola always uses. Other manufacturers have figured out how to make their phones without humps for the camera, etc...why can't they do it?

  • NILAY, you look hungover.

  • Is this thing REAL, i cant belive this is a phone! This is almost thinner then 3.5mm jack! Good job Motorola, i'll be in line for the sexiest phone on the market.

  • I measure thinness, at the device's thickest point. Just sayin'.

  • So how bad is Motobarf this time around, and did they encrypt the bootloader again?

  • Beautiful, but why release the Bionic??

  • Intriguing...I'm not sure if I'm as dead set on the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus anymore.

  • @tipoomaster - I know what you mean, this phone looks better and better.

  • @tipoomaster google owns motorola now ... ice cream smmich is coming to this beast in no time ((i hope so))

  • @tipoomaster i was waiting for the nexus prime too but pretty sure I'll be going with this. So disappointing how the prime is made of plastic!

  • @tipoomaster If you're basing it straight on specs then i would be leaning towards the RAZR too. However, i'm still getting the Galaxy Nexus because i care more about user experience and support by Google. The specs on the nexus are pretty high end for this year (until the quad-core CPU's come out), but the RAZR is just one phone you can't miss when it comes to raw power, but software wise would go to the Nexus.

  • @shockwave2291

True, Motorola's Motobarf software is a bit of a turn off for me, as is their locked/encrypted bootloader. That, and the 720p display on the Nexus have me leaning back that way.

  • @tipoomaster I would go for Razr since it's going to get ICS anyway...

  • so they have done exactly opposite of what apple did - changed the screen and externals while keeping whats inside the same

  • @djangoguru - erhm... Theres only 1-2 months between these phones. So it's more like offering a greater selection than a predecessor.

  • @GrandDanois i'm not saying its worse or better

  • Wow never saw this guy's face before, so didn't put him to look like that.

  • @productfeedback lol been living under a rock for the past few years eh?
