Even the German Inspector General says his soldiers are fat, lazy and under motivated. In Afghanistan the Germans drink 1.7 million pints of beer every year. The British and US armies do not drink any alcohol at all out there.

Having worked with the US Marines in Afgfhanistan I can tell you that they are actually very conscientious about trying to protect the civilian population. Although there are some assholes out there, the majority are working really hard to help.

@TasuBeatZ I have worked with the German ArmyandI am half German myself but although Germany was the most effective army for its size in WW2 it is just a shadow of what it was. Even the German Inspector General says his soldiers are fat, lazy and under motivated. In Afghanistan the Germans drink 1.7 million pints of beer every year. The British and US armies do not drink any alcohol at all out there.

@Outchwork The USA may well have the highest obesety rates in the world but that does not mean that their army is the same and that is what is being discussed. Having worked with the US Marines in Afgfhanistan I can tell you that they are actually very conscientious about trying to protect the civilian population. Although there are some assholes out there, the majority are working really hard to help.

why is Iran, China, and S Korea on this list I actualy have experience with the S koreans and the are well equiped and very diciplined but there army is just to small to be a threat to anybody else, and while the Chinese Army is big it is not that big and they lack suficent airpower Armored and artilery support for an army there size and what the do have is pretty outdated PS china olny has the worlds third largest tank force.

The British Army is without a doubt is the best army in the world. It may not always have the best equipment and technology, but the British army has definitely got the best trained, most skilled and professional soldiers in all the world.
It hasn't lost a major conflict in its five hundred year history and it was the back bone to the largest Empire on the earth ever. The British are too modest when it comes to its armed forces as it likes to keep a low profile.

its pretty obvioud USA then UK, China, France, Russia- numbers mean nothing anymore thats why the UK has been able to maintain its place as second in the world with its military being the worlds most highly trained, with the best intelligence and second best technology. russias military is old and useless while chinas army isnt equipped to any standard.
also allies make a country powerful thats why the links with the anglosphere and europe are so powerful

big armys are so last century ! , a big army eg: (russia , china , india), with bad resources, bad training and equipment , bad intelligence etc etc would in this modern day find it very hard to beat a small , well organised , well equipped , fast moving , advanced country with good doctrine and intelligence eg : Uk , Germany , Japan
then theres the Usa who has the size , advance tech , good training , they have it all , they even have the effective smaller allies that i mentioned

Because we have a small army, but damn we pack a punch - We may not be big but we are already known for our best trained army (SAS, SBS, BSS, Royal Marines etc) Then we have our British colonies who fight with us as Canada, Australia, India and the Gurkas (Thats just the main ones)

India will get more powerful then European nations in the coming decades. India will leap over Europe militarily like China is doing right know. Its really a matter of time. Chinese economic boom started in 70s,India's 90s they are moving at a rapid pace. Definitely China. They both have be superpowers before and will again i am sure.
