@pixarfan97 Most definately. I'm studying CG arts and Animation at UCA and drawing is key. If you can, take life study classes and build up a good portfolio for University interviews.
@pixarfan97 Thats what I want to know, I don't think you do.... But it would be helpful I guess, it's just an opinion sorry I couldn't give you a straight forward answer
@SilverfangX777 Animation doesen't judge people for grades they mainly look for people who have talent and know what they are doing. They also look for very hard workers.
Pretty much all you need to do is be talented with both drawing and animation. It's possible to be one without a degree if you make your own films and someone like pixar see's it and there interested they will hire you for sure. I believe that's what happend to Tim Burton Disney saw his short movies and hired him.
also, Vancouver film School, They Teach 3D and visual effects, classical animations, Character animation and a LOT more, did you heard about DISTRICT 9?, they made that movie, well, the graduates, Transformers, sherlock holmes, and They have a channel on youtube. check it out.

what if you cant draw does it matter? Because i want to become a computer animator
XxjLuma94Xx 8 months ago
@XxjLuma94Xx If you want to learn how to draw, I am guessing you are studying a computer animation major at college.
See if your college has a basic drawing skills class.
I took one and I passed, then the dean recommended that I switch to computer animation as a minor and film as a major.
So I draw much better now thanks to that class.
So even one or two drawing classes during your time in school can make all the difference.
I hope that helps.
Sincerely,
Ryan

@XxjLuma94Xx Plus, drawing is a required skill for a computer animator to have.
At meetings, animators have to do rough sketches for producers and directors.
You don't have to draw like Jim Lee, but having at least some drawing skills is required.
According to the professionals that I have talked to.
Good Luck!

I love drawing but am not sure whether to become a comic illustrator or animator,
heyhohow1 1 year ago 2
@heyhohow1 Your best bet is to go to animation school.
You will learn character design and storyboarding.
This can be used in comics as you will learn sequential art and panels.
The only difference is that in comics there is much, much, much more detail than in your average storyboard!
Still, the same basic principals apply!
This way you can do both comics and animation.
I am a college art/animation student so I know this form experience!
Good luck!
