I think when people hear addiction they think that you are dependent on the substance as well this is not true. Addiction refers more to the desire to do something associated with craving and preoccupation , where as dependence can be described as the user would suffer biological impediment if the substance was stopped like in laxative dependance. You wouldn't say someone is addicted to laxatives because it is not as if they have a craving for them .

you know. i must admit... when i found out about ketamine and the effects... the k-hole... the NDE that is characteristic of it's full effect... i really questioned my faith. the ultimate crux to what held my faith together was not church, the bible, or even prayer (i'd realized i'd been spoon fed all this). it was that of those who've died, been recused, and told stories of the tunnel of light during their NDE. but if a chemical could produce this in the brain?

K is totally non-addictive. You can do it every day for a year and then stop cold turkey without any negative effects.

I have seen people acting like addicts about needing K, but they were morons. I have read more about K than you have read about anything. I also speak from experience. K might be a lot of fun, but it is NON ADDICTIVE!

@jakeolthof Addiction is a hugely elusive term. James points to this in the interview, you can be addicted to something such as TV - yet TV is a non-addictive substance. Perhaps you do not withdraw physically from Ketamine, i say perhaps only because I have not experienced as such but who am i to suggest no one else has?, regardless one can still be very much addicted to its effects, to the way it makes one feel etc.

@TheGregZ  I totally agree addiction is hard to define. I have never talked to anyone who has experienced any negative effects from stopping K. I like to use the term "habit-forming" to explain why people act as if they have a need for something that in fact they do not. Alcohol for example is so addictive that death can result if an addict stops. Heroin w/d does not kill, but does present physical symptoms that for many are quite uncomfortable.

@jakeolthof Its partly becuase we assume if there is a not a scientific grounding for something, if it is not measurable, quantifiable etc, we assume therefore that it has no grounding in reality. This is a fallacy. Just because a Cannabis addiction, for example, is not something that we can sit and study because the body does not shake, sweat or beg for it, does not mean someone is not addicted. Simply waking up every day and feeling a joint is necessary is addiction.

@jakeolthof Cannabis is another non-addictive substance, and yet I have experienced, on some level at least, a Cannabis addiction. Indeed I could, and did, stop cold turkey - but I spent at least a year smoking it compulsively, without really wanting to, before, as Krystal points out, making the decision to stop. I didnt experience a physical withdrawal, but any negative effects? for sure. My life was defined in terms of smoking, i had to rediscover who i was.

I dont see why anyone likes cocaine anyway, its like lets spend a shitload of money to get high for 30 minutes. Paco on the otherhand seems more practical but just as bad. it's an awful drug. Turns people from being best friends into people that are crafty to each other. Makes people unapproachable and angey. It destroys life and friendship. Dealers untimately weaken the purchase because they are not your friends, and you will be mentally hooked thinking the dose is as good as the first.

Cocaine (the good shit) should be only for special occasions and best avoided imo. Anyone with a coke habit you should give a wide birth but that's just my opinion

A lot people I know who snort or take cocaine frequently always claim that cocaine isn't addictive and that they can stop it whenever they want.
