I heard EJ has been working on a Signature Fuzz Face with Dunlop and it's to be released quite soon. Now I'm playing with a Bonamassa Fuzz Face, really nice pedal but yours is just incredible !
@stratmanblues1 How far do you turn the volume/fuzz knob ? It sounds really nice in this clip. I've only had success with an overdriven tube amp, not a clean one so I'm wondering what your settings are ? Or maybe your fuzz face is infinitely better than mine and is probably so !
if you have a silican fuzz try backing the fuzz knob on 7 if its a germ. put it on ten clean amp is the way to go a vintage fuzz face is the ticket i have yet to find one that sounds like them spend the money on a vintage one and vintage fender or marshall will get you there its not cheap i found that whatever hendrix and johnson used is a formula that cant be toped happy fuzzing and good luck
analog sunface is ok there is a mojo with the 60's fuzzface i recomend getting the real thing i told my buddy i will all amps and guitars before i part with the fuzz
Sounds great! The fuzzface really shines through your showman. I thought fuzz faces sounded best through Marshall amps or amps on breakup but it sounds better in my opinion with fender amps. Do you think a Fuzz face would sound good with a Bassman or a Bandmaster (Particularly tweed)
thanks im gonna do one with my vintage marshall thats when the fuzz really shines tweed bassman would rule with a fuzzface twin reverb works well i have a vibrolux reverb that sounds really good
Sounds like more of a distortion pedal than a fuzz pedal. Curious to know what the chain was. Obviously there's the delay. Is the amp cranked? I noticed you hit a switch that was off camera.
What kind of transistors are in your E..J. fuzz face? Are bc183l or bc108s or something else? You were right Eric does have reat taste in picking nice old fuzz faces out. The one I got sounds great and is the best fuzz I have had yet.
I agree that some of the good old silicon fuzz faces can sound very similar to a nkt 275 fuzz face. I dig the silicon because the nkt 275 fuzz;s I had were very temp senitive. I dont have the problems of the sound changing as much with the silicon. Curious if you have ever seen/heard one of his red dallas arbiter fuzz face? I see he uses that blue, red and a gray one fairly consistantly.
Awesome. I just scored one Eric's old fuzz face too. It is a gray silicon one. I have not recieved it yet but will in a couple days. If it sounds half as good as E.J. fuzz face you have I will be very happy. Thanks for making this.
it will sound good he only has good ones he is the king of fuzz tones if he does a show near you go see him talk to him hes a great person you will like the fuzz face
lol no judgement, but you seem like a huge eric johnson fan, your rig is almost exactly the same

WOW! That Fuzz Face sounds incredible! Is there any contemporary pedal that can get close to that? You know, for us mere mortals? :-)

Wow, so lucky to own one of EJ's FFs'. Congrats!

I am pretty sure that EJ uses a 57 stratocaster...not a 55. Please correct me if I am wrong.

hes used a lot of different ones over the years

Very honky on the "Righteous" chords.

I think it sounds more along the lines of a distortion pedal as well. Either way, I like it.

Tommy I have to say that is the best fuzz face I have ever heard. You gotta make vid using your sparkle master built strat and this fuzz face.
phatsound1 2 years ago

mine has the bc 108's so does the blue one you see him using so offen they nail the hendrix tone the early nkt-275 germ is very smooth like a violin
