i know this has been said to you a thousand times before but my gerbil died after I gave her a bath. So, please don't bathe your gerbil. I mean, I myself was stupid back then, but now I have TWO gerbils instead of one, they live in a tank instead of a cage, and they have a sandbath whenever I feel they need one. And they get lots of exercise. :)
Watching this made me cringe! You should really try a sandbath for your gerbil, it's much better for them and kinder to their skin. They stay pretty clean on their own to be honest so there's really no need to bath them with shampoo. You need to be very careful as gerbils can go into shock when put in water and they should be dryed immediately to warm them up. Give the sandbath a go, it's so much easier and better for your little furry.
Did the shampoo have a picture of a gerbil on it...NO, did it say for gerbils...NO then dont use it. Your thinking of yourself having fun more than the animals health.
That's bad handling. Ur hand actions make the gerbil nervous. Ur darting ur hands this way and that, drawing ur hand away quick and that's scaring the poor thing! Instant dislike without watching the whole video.
Your gerbil obviously does not like this. Most gerbils do not like water plus it is much better to give them a sand bath as everyone is saying. Also, just noticing this at the beginning but you need to do a little more work with your gerbil, as he/she runs away from your hand. They sometimes will but I know if I put my hand near my gerbil or leave the cage open by me, they investigate, run up onto my shoulder and are very social. I don't think she trusts you much, and the bath isn't helping.
Bathing a gerbil is BAD. Get a dust or sand bath which WILL keep them clean. The bedding also cleans a little. If the gerbil doesn't like it, then stop you retard, they only have short life span, so make your gerbil happy for the time you have it.
@narutouzumaki1216 Your gerbils DOES NOT like their wheel, they are just addicted. The tail is an extension of the back, so you can just imagine it yourself how it would be to run with your back bent that way... Plastic wheels are not good either, plastic is very dangerous to gerbils if they chew on it. If it gets inside the gerbils stomach it is deadly for the gerbil. It is better to let your gerbils out of the cage to let them run in a natural way, and you will get a lot happier gerbils!
@MoaEllieTicci they do like their wheel ik this u cant say if they do or not and the wheels im talking about arnt plastic and they cant chew peices off. i let them out 5 times a day for 10 minutes and i let them run around in a wheel :)
This is stupid you could kill your gerbil and you could kill others 2 if people follow this video!! Just go on google and it will tell you not to get them wet!! THINK A LITTLE!!!!

@TheGerbilHelp To clear this up, wettail is caused by eating too many seeds. Its just like diarrhea in humans- do we get it by taking a shower? Nope. Gerbs can however catch a cold from getting wet too often, but a bath every six months or so can help. I have kept and raised gerbs for the past 10 years, I know what I'm saying.
for someone who says they know what they're doing your description states something that 5 seconds on google will tell you is not only wrong but harmful.
It's clear you love your pet and i know you're trying to provide help but make sure you fully explain the possible consequences of doing something that can be harmful or even potentially fatal.
If you strip the oil in their coats away you leave them vulnerable to illness and disease and it can possibly be fatal.
anyone wathcing this as a toturial this IS a valid way to wash a gerbil care is taken not to get water in the ears mouth nose or eyes which can cause infection or possible drowning.
You should only ever wash a gerbil like this if they are wounded as i said earlier or if they have something toxic on their coats which they may ingest when they try and clean it off themselves
you aren't supposed to bath gerbils too often unless there's a reason like one is wounded/bleeding etc they're dessert rodents and keep themselves clean. If you watch your gerbil is trying to escape, they can get really frightened when doing this and will try everything to get out of the water. If you want to bath them provide them with a tub of sand.
@BonBon1216 actually you miss the point i'm getting at and your description is potential harmful to other people's pets if they watch it as a tutorial.
You should NEVER bathe a gerbil or hamster because they are "dirty". they are desert animals and live in dirt and dust. Being dirty is not only normal for them but essential to their wellbeing. their coats contain oils which keep them healthy a dirt bath regulates how much of it there is. washing with water strips this away completely
@BonBon1216 no you obviously don't know what are you doing... you MUST read something about gerbils, bcause it's obvious that you dont know what are you doing!! gerbils take sand bathes, NOT WATER!!

1. Don't bath your gerbil!!! (There are many reasons why not.) Get a sand bath instead and they will fix it theirselves.
2. Don't use wheels.
3. Get him a friend, lonely gerbils are sad gerbils.
4. Buy him a house to have in his cage.

it is not good to give gerbils a bath. and why would you? they don't smell at all!
they clean themselves all of the time, they groom eachother, they bathe in sand and they don't have a lot of urin.
and i can tell by one look that the housing of you gerbil is not appropriate :(
