  • I just found that flagging system doesn't work correctly and now I'm here..., but how I see the problem is much bigger than I realized.

I think this is not the real problem - soon youtube will be censured.

  • I admit i dont nor do i plan to make any videos for youtube but i really bet that haveing a viedo flagged is really annyoying, even more anyoying than that person in class that used to make fun of everyone.

  • I agree with you that they don't have time to review flags. This also hurts those that are trying to flag videos that SHOULD be flagged. I have been unable to flag a bullying video...it keeps telling me I need to review the community guidelines, which then force me to watch a banal video about youtube's feel-good policy. Pretty fed up.

  • Flagged. Just kidding dude, I hate assholes like that.

  • Don't bitch your not that fucking importin on here stop acting like you are

  • TheCHRIS215 - Actually, I am though... I'm top 90, world-wide. Stop trolling.

    - Jon

  • I hope you know I am not trolling I like your videos I watch them hell I even am subbed but I'm just saying you acting like ur shane dawson or sxephil and really importin but you're ARENT so dont act like it this seems like bitching and less like a open letter

Love your videos but I am just saying I know u didnt mean to be bitching but that what it sounds like.

    TheChris215

  • TheCHRIS215 - I make YouTube $60,000 a year. I have a right to complain when their website fucks up. They responded to this letter with a personal phone call. Get your shit straight.

    - Jon

  • Good luck. Your videos are cool and no one deserves a 'bad flag'. Trolls everywhere :/ sorry for my english

  • I am just saying that the video is comeing off more as bitching and less as a open letter thats all I am saying maybe u should lose the tone I am just saying.

And btw no need to cuss and also I am not trolling I am commenting on what I think and just because thats not what everyone else things doesnt make it trolling

Anyways thanks for reading my comment

    TheChris215

  • I'm living this problem right now. I got a video flagged and a warning email about showing NUDITY in a video. The video showed a picture of a co-worker.......I'm a teacher....it was a picture of a fully dressed teacher in a school. FLAGGED FOR NUDITY!?!?!? WTF!!!!!!

  • lol

  • SENSORSHIP... Fuck it if you don't like it, Don't watchit. I don't need someone telling me what they think I should see. I flag youtube for being gay

  • GRAMMAR...Properly use it.

  • Did they ever send a note back?

  • Is it a good idea to microwave youtube?

  • Kick some ass John! There is nothin better than comin home from a day of work and watchin u guys fry something with a microwave. If I can do anything to help the good fight, let me know. Quite frankly, I feel that (at least) " Is it a good idea to microwave this?" IS a Youtube series. In fact, It is the only one that I watch religiously. Hope things get better for you all!

  • would be hilarious if this vid would get flagge xD haha

  • Neither have I but I have flag a few people that respon rude and negatively to them but only because they were cussing and went to far.

  • Yahi tried to watch the match one and i could not watch it.

  • I understand the flagging, as an idea. I, myself, have never flagged a video simply because I never thought any video I've seen was so obscene or whatever that it should've been taken down.

But flagging a video just because, without any reason (or you're just an asshole with no life), it just wrong. Youtube isn't just a place where people put up videos of their cats or kids... its a real business.

Hopefully, you'll get this fixed soon.

  • Perhaps flagging should be voted on

  • @PhilosopherSocrates

I could get behind that idea.

  • Ask george bush! he is a pro at false flags.

  • I TOTALLY agree with you. But hearing the e-mail was awkward in some way, but I really hope you'll get some really good help my man. The flag system is a big ball of bull shit!

  • Time to kick some corporate ass, yes?

  • I agree. False flagging is annoying.

    P.S: Cool Def Leppard shirt.

  • I dont know why for almost a year now I still have a ghost video response! Even after a channel conversion done by a sub-contractor in NY! Google dont talk to you.

YT customer service has the same run around as ebay.

  • Flagging is a good public option. However It dosent work.

  • Also, did they reply to your letter yet?

  • I Lel'd :D

  • Yeah my old account got banned a month ago and there is no way to get it back, I only had several thousand subscribers but it really hurt me so I will never upload anything on this website again.

  • bojanglesthetrombone - That doesn't sound like it has anything to do with false-flagging...

    - Jon

  • False flagging is a serious problem that needs to be fixed.

  • dang losing money sucks.

  • Keep up the good work. You guys rock. I'm surprised if YouTube really tries to help you out; #1: They are a monopoly and can pretty much do whatever the fuck they want. #2: You losing revenue saves YouTube revenue. Simple as that. Basically everyone is at the mercy of YouTube... But awesome letter, I'da done the same.

  • it makes me want to flag this video..hahaha

    JK

  • You have my support.

  • Comment removed

  • I know exactly how you feel, at least you have a way to contact youtube though! Us non partners have to sit and hope youtube sorts it themselves without us asking!

  • JOAOAAable - Yes, this is very much true, and I was in your shoes for a very long time.

    - Jon

  • I'm really to hear about it, JP.

I've been subscribing to "Is it a good idea to microwave this?" for a couple of months now, and I can't think of any reason why people would just start randomly flagging all of your vids like that.

I think they're really funny (except for that corny "Because nobody like roasted nuts" tagline, which got old a very long time ago).

The ones where you microwaved Picachu, & Elmo were my favorites.

I hope the YouTube mods get off their lazy butts & fix it soon.

  • Curious question.....On average, how much do you make a week or even a month?

  • dustinhansen56 - Please visit my YouTube channel page, and click the link to watch the "FAQ Video" for the answer to your question. Make sure to read the info in the video's description, thanks!

    - Jon

  • oh and another thing, I study in a catholic school and two guys from my group one day decided to put dog poop in the cafeteria's microwave which was very funny I got to admit and its a small town so everyone found out about it, well they eventually were kicked out but it was the funniest most exciting thing it ever happened in that stupid school, and yes i know i talk too much

  • Hi, I like your videos I really do, I find them amusing but maybe they have been flagged because of the younger audience, everything they see they want to do so maybe if a 6 or 8 yr sees the 400s sodium bulb episode then he/she would take one from their house and do it and thus injuring his/herself or someone else jus like my nephew saw a vid on YT about a kid hitting the Xbox or idk what it was and he wanted to do it, but anyways good luck and good job

  • One I like your shirt two I have the same problem with the apple company it seems as though major companies are taking less interest in helping us out and why you get flagged is beyond me but good luck with this whole problem

  • How can 'nearly 8' of your videos be flagged? Nearly??

  • Tunemansteve - I am not actually positive of the number. It's either six or seven.

But yes, the way I worded it was poor.

    - Jon

  • Dude, that sucks. I'm sorry man. Your videos are great. It's ashame of what YT is doing.

    Nice shirt BTW

  • We do not need a flagging system at all.

It infringes civil liberties on those who are children, and fails to deliver any benefits to those who are children.

  • It seems to me that partner videos should all be subject to review before a flag kicks in. Alternatively, if a video is flagged and the flag is later overturned, the video should reappear on the homepage of subscribed members, and any views that occurred while flagged should result in revenue retroactively. The former would seem to be the better option, however.

  • Well I watched your open letter video and I have to agree that something should be done about flagging. Complete strangers should not have the ability to interfere with you making a living. Perhaps youtube should employ a system that requires multiple unique flags similar to craigslist. I hope this issue gets resolved for you quickly and permanently. Also I took a moment to watch an episode of your show, and I have to say it AWESOME. Keep up the good work. I hope you make a fortune.

  • lectromusic - Glad to hear you're on my side - thanks for the support!

    - Jon

  • I'm with you Jon! :)

  • You would think that partners would get this service as standard, after all once someone becomes a partner it all becomes a money issue.

  • Johnathan Paula,

Your letter was great a straight to the point. I hope something gets done with this and this problem is fixed soon. Youtube is owned by Google so they should have a staff to review every flag.

Keep up the good work with the microwave show, it's my favorite show on Youtube!

    - dq9

  • Well just let the US or UN govt make all the flagging decisions. Like China does. That way all problem is removed? (being sarcastic against NWO / SKYNET).

  • @JPizzle1122 i 100% agree with you. he makes no sense.

  • Well done letter.Good luck.

  • Well mr. JPizzle1122.

    What now!

    - Nik.

  • If this doesn't work, I have a solution:

We all buy Swords and other Weapons, and when Google takes over the world, we start a resistance.

We shall call ourselves "The Knights of Old YouTube"

  • And if YouTube doesnt fix this, you send them a microwave with an airbag in it.

  • With some kind of timing system or trigger so the microwave goes off when they open the box. And some sort of power source.

  • Down and to the point. Great guy, when he's not mindlessly swearing on Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This videos.

  • First off you insulting my intelligence when you clearly don't have any yourself. Why are you complaining about the fact that I say his channel gets enough traffic youtube should make him flag proof? Then talking about a channel's schedule how is that even related? Think before you type won't make a fool out of yourself.

  • there are many problems with youtube that I hope get fixed like the fact that someone just stole my pofile picture.(btw does anyone no how 2 ban a racist guy 4 stealin a profile pic ).

  • You cant get someone baned for having the same profile pic as you.

  • Yeah. Just change your profile picture.

  • I totally can understand your point and position, there has to be a better protection from these false-flaggers. It would be better if the Flag-Button would contain ways, that the flagger HAS TO describe, WHY the video is against community guidelines. The problem is, that no one can pay the people neccessary to check and control all the flags and to search out the false ones. Its just kinda unfair that videos can be flagged so easily...

  • i agree it's good that you stand up for yourself

  • def leppard lol

  • I say this because it needs to be said:

You NEED to get a job as a fallback just incase youtube shits on you.

but great video, i hate false flaggers, they dont realize what they are doing.

  • sexyslimgoody1779 - I don't understand why you think I *need* to get another job.

Do you want to work two jobs? Come on now, lets be serious for a moment.

    - Jon

  • I'm just saying, like as a fallback, I wouldn't be too dependent on YouTube.

A lot of people have 2-4 jobs when they can, where i'm from at least.

  • sexyslimgoody1779 - I still don't see what's wrong with being dependent on your job.

I have to assume everyone in the world is dependent on their job... My YouTube job security is no less secure than any real job. In-fact, it's probably more secure.

    - Jon

  • You know more than i do, guess I'm not one to judge, considering I've never had a job on the Internet.

Enjoy the rest of the week, Jon, and Happy New Year =)

  • And another point, his job here on Youtube is kind of like being a waiter and people don't give tips. People think that servers and waiters make enough money on their regular income, but they DONT. They are living 90% of the tips they recieve from customers. If your waiter was nice to you and gives you what you want (Like Jonathon) then support!

  • I'm suprised a troll didn't flag THIS video...

  • u git my vote dude they culd not do that

  • I hate people who flag it's stupid.

  • LOL, the skull on the table in the back ground, I have the same one. :D

  • I am offended by your haircut. Flag! LOL! Eight videos? Sounds like you have a stalker.

  • The Mug in the Background says a swear word and this must be flagged...LMAO.

Anyway, can't you just re upload a flagged video?

  • You said it man. I admire your courage for standing up for what you believe in. c;

  • why can people just unflag ??? almost like a flag shield, the more people that add to the shield

  • Maybe he just wants to go Official?

  • did you finally get a reply from youtube??

Wished you the best of luck

    -[Roddy]-

  • I am 16, but made this account which says I am 19 so I can still watch videos which have been flagged and people under 18 cnt view them.

  • haha now imagine if someone flagged this video.

  • It would be hella messed up if somebody flagged this.

  • someone should flag this just so youtube will watch it so they can deem it unflag worthy and maybe something will click in their idiotic minds.

  • You adressed a letter to youtube saying what you wanted. They don't win a thing to do what you say. Youtube is huge, it's not one less uploader that will change their money. Why would they care, really? You just make your demands and you are giving nothing back.

  • Aqlor - I'm a YouTube Partner - I pay for their salaries. I am bringing to light a series issue that is site-wide.

Believe it or not, but they do care what I have to say.

    - Jon

  • I was about to tell him that, Jon, I guess you beat me to the punch.

  • Would it be possible for youtube to retroactively credit ad revenue for videos which are found to have been erroneously flagged? Would that fix most of the problem?

  • I like the idea of making partner videos pre reviewed for flags.

    Not bad!

  • i think someone should flag this video (just jking)

  • Eight videos? Seriously? That's more than just an oversight. Good for you Jon: they pulled this shit on you way too often.

  • your so right!!!!! there's NOTHING bad in your vids. ,and the flags should be reveiwed before takeing efect just like you said. good jod :D

  • Ok. Maybe saying "real job" wasn't the correct term. But a job that relies on the inconsistency of people watching your video isn't really reliable. He has been to college, why not put the money, time, and education to good use?

  • DarkVia - I'm sorry... is launching your own media production company and working out of your home-office for more than all of your peers will be making in 5-years not considered "good use".

    STFU dude...

    - Jon

  • 4 of my vids were falsley flagged and were not fixed for days i dont know if it was a joke or for a reason but i reread the comminity gidelines and the didint violate anything i am totally behind you

  • ya. I understand why you are mad. I'm mad at the people who flag it too.

  • i'm behind you dude!

  • Very well done.

  • They'll just screw off and laugh in your face, but when they do, WE'LL screw them harder. I'm all with you, and always have been, Jon.

    --Gabriel

  • I have only seen two flags that belong. And one was considerably wrong as it wasn't a humorous crotch joke by a female comedian, it was a health video for men on how to avoid bad embarrassing encounters. I fully support you and I will soon post a funny picture on facebook about my opinion. Look under Patcheresu or Quinn Holt to whom it may concern

  • IS it possible to make an account flag-proof btw?

  • Why don't we ask Fred that question?

  • Digg this up under the name "YouTube's Flagging System is Broken" Let's try to get some attention.

  • I can actaully see your frastration from the words that has been used for writting a letter to youtube.

I hope that you will get a satisfactory answer from youtube

  • frastration=frustration but that comment was funny

  • The fact that your YouTube videos equals your income makes this flagging shit particularly pissy. He's not just losing views or popularity or time when a video is flagged, he's also losing some of his livelihood. YouTube spends so much fucking time regulating video content, it's about time they start regulating the flagging process properly as well.

  • Pretty stupid of whoever flagged your video man i am a subscriber to the is it a good idea to microwave this, and never have i seen anything bad. Luv the series please keep us posted on the letter.

  • nice shirt dude

  • I noticed that YOU TUBE DOES often stop people from posting what they really feel. What are white men afraid of by allowing people to speak their minds. I say we boycott - YOU TUBE...

  • this guy is awesome *subscribes*

  • You don't appear to be able to solve that Rubik's cube.

  • i like your points . they need to get rid of the flagging system

  • sounds like youtube is losing it's luster.

  • Cool story bro.

  • u got a cool job

  • @thebestdayeversong Thats funny

  • well that sucks

  • Yeah they should review the flag before it takes effect.

  • You are so right

  • it would be funny if someone flagged this vid 2

  • I congrads you on getting your video unflagged. I to think youtube relys to much on the honor system for its flagging. Good luck with your endavor!

  • love the shirt JP

  • Word.

  • wait. /nearly/ eight? like... seven? I do love your channel and am totally behind you but "nearly eight videos flagged"... is kinda off to me. I mean I believe the number, but its either eight or its not... :\ sorry to be a downer :( I do love you though!

  • Interesting ideas for ways to solve the problem..and pretty well worded letter but the 'within 12 hours' thing seems a bit to short. With it being the holiday season a lot of businesses have a smaller amount of workers on at the same time so they may get to the letter past the 12 hour deadline. Though I do hope this problem for you gets resolved.

  • well that is a nice building with all those nice picatures and stuff.

  • @piratesephiroth You're an asshole.

  • dude you care about the episode! when he could lose money that keeps the channel on. seriously!

  • You guys have inspired me. I havent done anything though. I really look up to you having fun and blowing shit it. Major kudos from me. Keep up the good work.

    Thank you.

  • I'm going to have to support you on this one. some jealous hater shouldn't have the ability to take money out of your pocket, and stop people like me from watching your quality videos. hope youtube respondes and fixes up the problem.

  • It is a real job. They earn money from it and its a large amount of money too. So I suggest you get off the internet and actually learn what yor're flaming, alright?

  • lol the whole 18 or older thing? thats why i have a seperate account where im 39, then i can watch the videos that youtube falsely flags... its a good soulution to me

  • wiggwigg12 - Doesn't really solve the problem I'm having though.

    - Jon

  • One more thing, here's a idea for the show.

"Is it a good idea to microwave the flag button?". spoiler alert, yes. :)

  • *whistles* Damn. Do you know who flagged it?

  • Don't just whine at him for no reason; I bet he probably gets paid more than you anyway.

  • I agree with your argument and if I were in your position I'd probably be really pissed off to. I'm not saying Youtube shouldn't take action against this kind of behavior, but I think theres just something a little off with your letter, the tone maybe I don't know

  • For flags, you should have to fill out a form explaining why. If several flags come in, review it, and remove the video.

  • I hope they reply and do something.

It's sad that a few trolls can mess up your income, as well as disabling your viewers like that.

Good luck and Merry Christmas/Other holiday.

  • If they were to implement something as simple as a quick survey for people to fill out on why they're flagging a video, it would likely solve the problem.

The average youtube viewer would probably not bother wasting the time for something they don't really care about flagging.

  • how many people have been tempted to flag this video...?

  • I'll admit. The thought did crossed my mind. But that's a b**** move. Merry Christmas!

  • He has a point, very well spoken guy!

  • wait people make money for vids damn didnt know that. hmm like that hot for words chick says must invetigate. and yes i cant spell for shit

  • It... is a real job.

  • idiot, it is a real, full time job. shees.

  • WTF dude it happend to me it doesen't care.

  • I have think another reason why trolls who false flag videos is because they resent and are jealous & resentful of partners like us who work hard to make a living with our talents on the web to provide great quality entertainment. Oftenly I have seen that both Jpizzle and me receive comments like "get a life" or "get a real job". To be honest, why would this be any less of a real job than a job at the office in person? A world with out entertainment or the arts would be not a world at all.

  • dovetastic - Yeah - jealously is definitely rampant with some of these haters.

    - Jon

  • jonny im gunna get a lout of people to help you get these false flag video probl resolved that be veary nice if u help me by any way and reply to this thank

  • For those of you jealous people telling Jon to get a real job, this is a real JOB! He does way more than these microwave videos, and Ideo Productions is an actual business. They just make money through their partnership with youtube and the ad revenue that is posted to their videos. (You might try listening)

Also, if you look at sxephil, Shaytards, Shane Dawson, they also are partners and make money the same way. (And some of them also have had a problem with flagging)

    Get a Life loosers!

  • So he forced himself into your house and forced you to watch it? You Don't have discretion of what you watch?

  • Ah, here's an idea.

    Add an "Unflag" button!

If it's up to the community to declare a video inappropriate, it should be up to the community to refute this as well.

If enough 18+ viewers vote de-flag, the video gets de-flagged automatically.

I also agree with the "Partners should have flags reviewed before taking effect". There aren't that many high contributing partners like JPizzle are there?

  • To prove a point you should commit suicide, I think that they'll take you seriously! I vote do it.

  • Obviously, you're a dumbass. Maybe you should commit suicide to prove your point.

  • What a fucking kickass job ! , just make videos and get money shit yeah

  • Flagginf videos is for lifeless people who spend all their time on Youtube JUST to flag videos, like the lifeless guy on the comment below... So, I would really like them to just ELIMINATE that stupid function... If a video is "inappropiate" for certain public, they could simply flag what THEY think they should flag (since they actually watch the videos to see if they can be uploaded, they can also determine themselves to flag them or not)......

  • You know what I dound funny, though...? The category for this channel...... yes, ironic, is it not...?

  • how do you make money on youtube?

  • Pat Condell on the other hand never gets flagged and violates the hate speech every video

  • Yea I heard much grief about this from TheAmazingAthiest, another youtube partner, and all his supporters for a good while.

He contacted and despite all the logic and attempt to understand they just ignored him.

In response to this he made his own website to post vids not for the little oversensitive people.

Although the proposition of a seperate flagging system for partners doesn't really help us average people, but i think it necessary for the partners.

  • YOU TELL'EM!!!

  • Man I hope this all gets fixed you guys are awesome and like you said its your job! Thats like someone saying that you embezzled from your company when you didn't and you get like a mandatory no-pay vacation. It really sucks and I just hope people realize that flags actually harm the poster of the video. Like I said I hope this all gets fixed, best of luck and merry christmas

  • I think I have a solution to all of this.Just stay in YouTube for a short time to save money and you can start your own company,or at least make it independent from YouTube,if these problems still continue. That what Fred might do,he's all over public television. Not trying to be against you and telling you to get a job, just trying to tell you that you need to go up a little with your company.

  • Jon, basically everything you said is the issue I have with YouTube's video flagging system, which I've had for a while now, even though I've never personally had an issue with it.

Perhaps a system that would work better would be if instead of the community deciding if the video should be flagged or not, the uploader could decide if it was 18+ or not.

A system like that would also have its issues, but it would completely remove the chance of false flagging.

  • I think the Illuminati are to blame, your microwave related antics are impinging efforts for the new world order, If my calculations are correct you've delayed there progress 50 years.

  • Thats cause youtube. sucks anymore. With big goverment taking over America. And youtube , is in with them.

  • It'd be ironic if this video was falsely flagged...
