My mother had a friend who just came out at work. She's a high school teacher, and he felt he had wait until he had tenure to feel safe in coming out. He's been in a relationship with a man for 3 years now and married him over the summer, but he pretended to be dating various women and made up stories about these supposed relationships. Even though he KNEW my mother wouldn't care, he still felt he had to lie to her just in case it got out before he got tenure. Sad.

I want to understand the mindset of someone who employs someone and thinks one of the most important factors is his employee's sexuality. I mean, that doesn't even cross my mind!? How on earth do you get there?
I've had a gay boss before, could you imagine what would happen if he fired me for being straight? People would consider it ridiculous and I'd probably have a good case to take to court.

It isn't so much your stance that makes videos like this important, so much as the way you present your argument. I'm a straight, fiscally conservative (socially liberal) guy who manages people. I want the people who work for me to be highly skilled. Why would I slight myself (and the quality of my team) because of a person's sexual preference? This is my favorite video so far. People (including my own mother) are always saying "oh I don't have anything against gay people as long as they leave that stuff in the closet." having no idea what some gay people go through to hide their sexual orientation. I'm a closeted lesbian and I would know. This really sucks. I can't wait to go to college out of state and be free from ties to my family. It's sad that my family is going to miss out on so much of my life because of their hate and bigotry

I think the modern workplace is very antisexual regardless of the orientation of the employee. We live in a very uptight society were joking, flirting, and just being a sexual person can endanger our careers. That said I was surprised to find out that there wasn't already a statute like ENDA in place at the federal level. At any rate I hope that we can move forward to a point were people can be more open and expressive at work school, and everywhere else for that matter.

Laws do change; they don't disappear, thus having "none left" is improbable. Bigots warn "pandemonium!" when they feel threatened seeing the object of their bigotry striding toward equality. In the case for marriage equality, they've already been proven wrong.
