that fish is too big for him . it is also too slippery.
they eat insects you goose. You should clean off the crap on the feeding shelf and put a couple of partly killed crickets and woodies on there. alternatively put all that mess on your dinner plate and then put your meal on top and try to eat it without ingesting all the crap as well.pretty hard huh? make sure he has sun light available (not through a window)or an artificial alternative so his bones will actually grow
love the vid man, great music, great looking dragon. i got a pair myself and im PRAYING that they are both either female or a mating pair. two dudes wont last long before something ugly happens. they are the age of yours. things are cool.....for now. anyway, great vid!
just curious but are they the same as bearded dragons? or totally different? my nephew has a bearded dragon and i was looking into getting one for myself ..or something similar. just curious and thanks for the info!
Nice enclosure... Mine is a 55 gal with a custom top kinda like this one. Full aquarium with fish in the bottom, wood frame on top, closed with a place for bedding, basking, climbing, and slide down to the aquarium below. My water dragon will actually dive for feeder fish. Kinda cool. They say your not supposed to feed these lizards an only fish diet though. I like to feed mine at least one fuzzy a week. Crickets and random bugs and lizards in between.
i Just bought mine today, Its name is buddha, ( still kind of young to be very sure of the sex, was told a boy but I know its a little early to tell at 8 months, WILL BE POSTING VIDEOS SOON!!!!! love this one

PLEASE tellme how you kept this little guy alive. Every Iguana I've ever had has died, and now after seeing all of these Water Dragon videos, I want one! What do I need?
I personally own a Bearded and love him to pieces! He sits on my lap like a cat. I used to work at a reptile-only pet store and, In my opinion, if you want a more calm, less jumpy lizard, get a beardie. The water dragons are fantastic though, the only hard part is keeping the water clean, that can get a bit rough in larger tanks unless you have a good filter. With my beardie, he just has a calci-sand filled tank with a smaller removable bathing area, which I have found to be much easier to clean
I either want to get a bearded dragon or a chinese water dragon. I cant decide, what do you guys think? Ive done all my research and i have the space and money and i am going to be responsible. i will give it all the care it needs. Basically, its going to be spoiled. so bearded or water dragon?
i got one of 2 of these guys and had a heatlamp above the tank that they were in and i went to find on of them fried dried stiff from the lamp i was like ohhhh shit!
nice w made the mistake of getting two they got into a fight while i was at school and one ended up on its back which as you might no they cant breath like that....
I was wondering what insects you WOULD NOT feed your water dragon. Mine loves rolli pollis...the ones that curl up in a little ball. He cant eat enough of them, but I was worried cause they do have a thick shell..What do you think?
Thank you very much for your heartfelt and personal comment.
Please don't think of this as self-promotion, but I think you may also enjoy my other video called Iguana Feeding and I'd LOVE to hear your opinion on it.

@ty1977 It used to be.... in fact if you have the mp3 I suggest you mute this video and play that song instead. It was a great song for this video, unfortunately YT shut it down and I had to use audioswap.
2 weeks without food and would die. when you bring them home. u put them in there new cage. then take some paper and tape it to any areas that the dragon can see out of the tank. u can try to feed em but they prolly wont eat. around the 3rd day you can get them to start eating. they just get stressed out very easy. if your dragon dont eat after about 5-6 days i would either call the store and make them exchange it or call a vet. it may have something wrong.
i rescued a baby water dragon from a cat. and my dad has a reptile licsence so he said we could keep him. i have looked on the internet to see what he likes to eat but he doesnt seem to be eating. do u no wat i can do he is only this big
I I
and also is there any way i can get him tame to be handled casue he still runs away and sometimes opens his mouth at me please help :S
Hey. My friend feeds his water dragon lots of rainworms so maybe you could dig up some very small worms for him. They are difficult to tame I think, but remember to be very patient and if you find out what he likes you could bait him with it. Good luck :)
It's mostly a of question of which margin of error they individually allow. Water Dragons are not very forgiving if you've made any mistakes. A green Iguana is esier because you can move it (and the UV lamp + heating) to another room without difficulty. This gives room for equipment adjustments etc. Also, water dragons like living and varied food and they enjoy swimming, but in good water requiring good pumps and filters. Expensive and impractical. A great deal of maintenance is needed.
Yes, they can hunt in water as well. Movingday is not their favorite thing in the world, but they adjust well, the trick is to leave them alone as much as possible until they start enjoying their new surroundings (swimming, eating, even jumping and climbing)
I heard iguanas usually take months to tame down and leopard geckos are often calm as adults. Patience probably is very important :) Thanks, I might get a crested gecko
Thanks. :) I think that a crested gecko would be suitable for me because of food and temperment, etc. Again, thanks for giving me some info about some pets :)

hey dude just a question k i have a water dragon had him for about a month anyways he just finished the shedding phase with his tail shedding and during that time he didnt eat crickets or nething i tried meal worm and coated both in calcium no go however everyday he still made a bowl movment ect. i have put live plants in the tank and have found bite marks in some is it possible hes eating those instead and how can i get him back to eating crickets and stuff im just concerned thanks
depends largely on the room you have, and time you have to spend with them. It takes a few months to a year to tame a WD, and taming an iguana requires years spent with a captive bred juvenile. Also, water dragons remain sweet through the breeding season but require live food.
Nice video, well done. Looks like a great habitat too. If you like watching water dragons eat check out my videos of Charlie eating a variety of stuff including another lizard!
Water dragons can get pretty big, between 2-3 feet. Well, their bodies get about a foot, the tails are the really long part, about twice the length of the body. Mine's only a few months old, and he's already a foot long, tail included.
Water dragons are definately my favourite kind of lizard, They live long, up to 20 years, are pretty friendly, and are sooo cute when they eat. They lick their lips. Isn't it adorable?
water dragons are very unlikely to bite you they are just very skitish when you pick it up hold it for a few second then it should calm down the get more doseile the older they get
yyaaay i love water dragons, ima put a vid of my beardy eatin n stuff soon and btw, to hone his hunting skills try clipping one fin on the fish n put him in the water, the fish will swim in a circle and your dragon will catch it. eventually u might not even have to clip a fin(just a suggestion and sum ppl think its cruel 4 the fish so..)
hi im kind of scared to touch my own lizard you know because it wont settle down! i only got him last week but he keeps trying to escape he wont hardly let me touch him and it hardly eats and now im getting pissed off.... i dont know what to do
You need to be patient. These animals have very small brains and it takes him a long time to learn his new home, surroundings and your face. I don't think you're doing anything wrong, you just can't expect results that quickly :)
if i wanto touch my lizard while its shedding its skin what do i have to do because im getting impatient because its so cute and i wanto stroke it but ive been told while they are shedding skin you cant
Hey the more you handle him or her it will eventually calm down. There is no reason to be scared, it cant hurt you especially if it is a small one. My larger Water Dragon is that way when I havent held him in a while, he gets all squirmy and tries to jump off but eventually he gets it...he isnt going anywhere!
miy water dragon jumps for engaland when i touch him but he eats well and he tries to escape aswell its coz the dond realise they cant get to wot they see on the oth side of the glass so they try and try to get at it.

mGoLos 3 years ago
Oh yeah, also, what makes some reptiles better and easier pets than others besides temper/taming/handling and the variety of foods and equipment?
AntelopeDaCantaloupe 3 years ago
It's mostly a of question of which margin of error they individually allow. Water Dragons are not very forgiving if you've made any mistakes. A green Iguana is esier because you can move it (and the UV lamp + heating) to another room without difficulty. This gives room for equipment adjustments etc. Also, water dragons like living and varied food and they enjoy swimming, but in good water requiring good pumps and filters. Expensive and impractical. A great deal of maintenance is needed.
mGoLos 3 years ago
So water dragons absolutely love water and are in a way, like turtles? If you move a water dragon to a new room, it will be mad? Thanks btw :)
AntelopeDaCantaloupe 3 years ago
Yes, they can hunt in water as well. Movingday is not their favorite thing in the world, but they adjust well, the trick is to leave them alone as much as possible until they start enjoying their new surroundings (swimming, eating, even jumping and climbing)
mGoLos 3 years ago
Isn't that what you're supposed to do with almost every lizard so they can get used to their surroundings so they won't have stress
AntelopeDaCantaloupe 3 years ago
Yes. You could call it a rule of thumb with any animal that doesn't domesticate very easily or not at all. Patience is the key.
mGoLos 3 years ago
I heard iguanas usually take months to tame down and leopard geckos are often calm as adults. Patience probably is very important :) Thanks, I might get a crested gecko
