  • I think that little red box might have been a gateway to Narnia.

  • Apparently this model of Fairmont has an infinite fuel tank capacity. Notice how he never refuelled once.

  • 6:43 Anyone else notice that they used a CV GP9 instead of a CN one?

  • 6:00 CN MLW S4

  • Doctor Who has the TARDIS. Buster Keaton has his little Fairmont's center console.

4:20 That would be an FA2.

  • This brought me pleasure.

I haven't seen this since I was 6, it's one of my earliest memories of seeing something on the television.

  • @Bakomix4 the top of your head.

  • @Bakomix4 Fun.

  • What a wake up call, FP7 and passenger train.

  • Silent movies is an art in and by itself.

They really should make more movies like this.

  • Keaton is so smooth, I try to use his moving the train car with his hand bit every chance I get

  • AT this time, Buster was honored & appreciated AND was making more money than during his silent days....happy ending for someone who deserves accolades.....plus a great wife!

  • Grazie!!!

  • Clasic Keaton. Classic CN The BEST!

  • A classic I will never grow tired ot!

  • Clearly an influence on "Mr. Bean".

  • I used to watch this with my grandad. i must of been.. 4 or 5, i asked him to bring out this and his other silent comedy stuff over and over. man.. still giggling even now.

  • It's so great to see this classic on YouTube! It was almost impossible to see anywhere for decades!

  • It realy looks like poor old Keaton was trying to make some needly bucks at the end of his career.

  • @ProdIntergalactique

he wasn't doing too badly by this time. it was the 30s-40s that were a real shit time for him.

  • I would'nt mine a trip across Canada as long the Red Box had everything i required.

  • I use to see this on a Friday afternoon in School No work assignments figured it was the Teacher did'nt want to grade anypapers.

  • Why do we need the gubment making movies when the private sector gives us "Jackass"?

  • Words can't describe what I feel when watchig this. I want to zoom back to the 60s and be right there by Buster's side, a long trek cross-country, reading the paper together

  • Can you imagine? "Oh, look! There goes.....Buster Keaton?!?!?!" Hilarious!!

  • Some day, I'll see Canada by rail. Some day.

  • @FSMLosst Nice.....Best way to see it.....

  • @FSMLosst Ummmm... not as great a trip as you might think. Unless you get a sleeper, it's very uncomfortable (the seats don't recline for one). And you can't get a sleeper for most of the way - they don't put on sleeper cars through the rural and wilderness sections of the run. Plus, the conductors are very unsympathetic.

  • This is so cool! My grandfather had a Fairmont just like that one on the Missouri Pacific Lines, but his was painted orange.

  • @sakuraknight9274 Right on!

  • i watch this film every time i go on my computer its so funny fair play to him for still making comedy films so late in life.

  • 9:25-9:34 I can't stop laughing!!!!!

  • One of the greatest films by our wonderful NFB.... too bad it had it's legs kicked out from under it, by the Mulrooney Tories

  • Genius. =)

  • Canada, railroads and a banjo... it doesn't get any better than this!

  • I love this, especially cause all the depots, switchlamps and semaphores are intact

  • been over lionsgate bridge many times

  • Truly amazing film

  • Thats box has just about EVERYTHING in it dont it?

  • @Searsnut11 it should be nicknamed jesus!

  • Whenever I watch Buster in this, I feel like I am spending time with an old friend I haven't seen in a long, long time.

  • Whenever I watch Buster in this, I feel like I'm being an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time.

  • Thank you very much NFB from the UK, for putting this lovely film for everyone to see.

  • Brilliant! One of the best short films ever made!

  • I liked it, but was it supposed to be a comedy? Well, the buffalo-tea time made me snort, but the rest were just nice to watch...

  • Wonderful.

  • I didn't know he was still making movies so late in life..

  • It's strange to see this in such good quality. I was so used to the beaten up, pink and scratchy 16mm prints we were shown in school.

  • THANK YOU, NFB, for not blocking this from U.S. viewers.

  • @fegolem NO THANKYOU FOX FOR BLOCKING CANADIAN VIEWERS ON THEIR SITE!

  • I enjoyed this a lot.

Buster should have kept walking west to visit Japan or China and beyond.
