Yup. It doesn't matter how you do it, you just have to win the battle.

I'm not sure if it counts as a win if Cloud (or Cid) and the party have to go outside and fight the boss. If it doesn't then you probably lose the huge materia, but again I'm not sure.

hmm... well i plan on using this tactic but... what is the rare item for fighting "the thing" haha ,and what is that thing?

Care to help me? I didn't buy any units, instead I waited for the monsters, and I met a CMD Grand Horn, killed it, but now nothing comes anymore.

If I'm not mistaken, letting the monsters attack the shed counts as a loss and more losses mean less battles. After so many losses, you can't participate in the Fort Condor battles anymore.

On the other hand, some of these "losses" actually give you some good items. Find a guide and pick and choose which battles to lose.

Also, you can't participate in Fort Condor battles one-after-another. You gotta wait awhile before the next battle will be available. Pass some major event, then go back.
